How's the 3rd party content in the Bundle of Holding?

The Bundle of Holding has a bunch of 3rd party Mutants and Masterminds 3rd edition content. I'm generally leery of 3rd party content and don't recognize the companies or the creators off the top of my head. Has anyone else read any of these? Any good?

Misfit Studios is one of the better providers of new third party rules with setups that are pretty balanced and create some interesting variations. Unfortunately, I already own somewhere around half of the items in the bundles, include A Better Mousetrap and Metahuman Martial Arts.

(accidentally deleted my message because my phone hates me)

    Anyhoo...

The Vigilance Press creative teams are all or nearly all made up of creators who worked on GR M&M content. James Dawsey, head of Vigilance, was recently hired as art director for the Sentinels of the Multiverse as well so that's evidence the books look good too.

So while I'm biased, I think the quality is pretty high.

Quality from all of the companies participating ranges from good to excellent. Own everything in there and whilst I don't use everything, there are certain books that I find indispensable. There are alternative rules and guides to campaign building in the Better Mousetrap, Meta martial arts, lists of villains and a D&D-equivalent monster manual (Super Powered Bestiary) stats for some of your favourite comic heroes (and villains) in a slightly different format for copyright reasons (Super Powered Legends) as well as some very original builds as well (Rogues, Rivals, & Renegades 2, Strange Attractors, SixGun)

Even if you don't like some of the material because you don't want alternative rules, skills or advantages (Better Mousetrap, Metahuman Martial Arts 3E) or you don't need more NPCs or villains (Rogues, Rivals, & Renegades 2, Super Powered Legends etc.) then there is almost certain to be something in this package you will enjoy.

If you don't own any of these books this is a definite good value package.

It's a mixed bag, but for 25 USD it's a good buy. That said, there's some really bad ideas and some really good ideas, so be very careful what you pick and choose if you're using the rules content.
I'd say it's worthwhile as just inspiration fodder and stealable character art at 25 USD though.

Mixed bag is a good summary. I haven't read all of them, but...

I didn't know anything about the Super Powered Legends kickstarter, so if you're like me, be warned that this is pretty much just a bunch of Marvel reskins. I was looking for original characters and found that very disappointing. The character art is nice though, and should be re-usable.

Rivals Renegades and Rogues is one i already owned, definitely one of the better NPC collections out there (especially since the Algernon Files no longer seem to be a going concern)

Better Mousetrap I'm only part way though. Lots of extra rules here, which might or might not be your thing. I do like some of the new power extras though, especially some of the duration-related ones (ESPECIALLY regarding duration of Affliction) that didn't make the transition from 2e to 3e and have (in my opinion) hamstrung the system since then. Some of these seem very cheap however (1 point flat for a duration bump?) and could probably break the game if not kept in check by a vigilant GM. Power brings responsibility and all that. I haven't gotten further into this one yet.

Super Powered Bestiary is a straight translation of the D&D MM into M&M (alliterative acronyms always!) If you want to run a fantasy M&M game, it's obviously invaluable. Couldn't see myself purchasing it at full price though, it seems pretty specialised, but it's on sale, right? There are a few sample characters in here, all of which are reprinted in Super Powered Legends.

Strange Attractors is some romance-related GMing advice and systems, plus a couple of sample characters (who i find pretty forgettable). The systems seem moderately solid, but what you get out of them will depend entirely on where your taste lies in this sort of thing - many people prefer to leave the dice on the table and just roleplay this stuff out. But if it's your thing, it's there.

I own the Better Mousetrap and Metahuman martial arts. Both excellent books. I can't speak for the pre made character books in the bundle, I don't tend to buy those. All I have to say Is I wish there was a magic book like metahuman martial arts.

I own about 80% of what's in there, and I'd call all of it good quality (just not what everyone wants; for example its true that the Legends book are pretty much entirely reskins; they're also pretty clever, well-done reskins). I got thoroughly sold on the Vigilance Press stuff by the two RRR books, and that's even when you consider I'm not actually all that thrilled with M&M any more in some ways--but they're all really clever characters, to the point I'd find them worth importing into other systems.

Basically, if you're at all interested in additional M&M material, you honestly can't go wrong for the price unless you already have most of it.

All the 3rd party material is from publishers/creators I'm familiar with, and like many here, I already own several of the products-the quality is good to excellent in all the books so far. Of course, not all the material will be equally useful to everyone. But it is a terrific buy for the price.

    All my best.
