As the birdmen drop their satchels, Sanzo is already a step ahead, moving quickly out of the way of the gas cloud. He navigated the terrain quickly to get a vantage point, leaping up to get two or more birdmen in a line. Almost as if suspended in mid air by a cable in an old chinese movie, Sanzo charged up his ki in his fist, and released a powerful blow forward, creating a current of compressed air to strike down the flying menaces.

    Initial Dodge: 29
DC should be 15 I guess: Dodge: 15
    Should be good.
Moving/leaping up to get two birdmen in a line, and shooting them down with Hooken, Line area attack, dodge dc 20 for half effect or toughness DC 25 before falling down again (thanks to move-by attack). Thats quite Dragon Ball-y!

    Gamemaster

The young man covers his mouth and nose with the sleeve of his shirt, coughs one last time, then smiles brightly up at Pratfall. "Thanks, man!" he exclaims before taking careful sips of the seltzer.

As the bird-men who had attacked Sanzo beat their wings and rise into the air again, Sanzo hurtles up past them and fires an invisible blast of air straight down their line. The bird-warriors twist away deftly but are unable to resist the raw force of the attack, falling limp and spiraling down to the forest floor below.

Another squadron of avian warriors follows Eight Ball into the trees. One immediately becomes stuck on a branch and barely shakes itself free, a second fouls his wings and collides with a trunk, but the remaining two split to either side of Eight Ball and begin weaving a cage of thrusts of their obsidian-tipped spears, flying low under the branches of the trees.

The last four bird-men swoop at The Cast only to find The Cast charging back up at them. Half of the avians manage to shake free but their chances to attack are wasted as they struggle out of The Cast's fists.

The Hekawi mystic who isn't having a coughing fit bellows a few words of power at the portal before leaping through, and the shimmering black of the portal flickers briefly as it begins to shrink. At the same time, sounds begin to echo from the portal. The howl of wolves. The crash of metal on metal. The crackle of fire. Panicked cries in what sounds like but is distinctly not Spanish.

    OOC:
Pratfall gains a Hero Point for spending his turn being a Hero.
The avians line up for Sanzo and dodge well but four go down anyway.
Four avians fall for it and team attack Eight Ball. Two hit, two miss and one manages to lose to a tree. Eight Ball needs to make a TOU save against Damage 5+2, DC 22.
The last four attack The Cast, who attacks back. One fails the save for half, then two fail the TOU. The remainder team attack The Cast, and miss
The mystic grabs his buddy and leaves. The portal is shrinking, and is only 15ft large now.

Four avians remain: Two near Eight Ball, two above The Cast.

    Eight Ball
    HP: 2
    Luck: 4->3
    CND: Fatigued next round

Just like he was relaxing, he let the blows from the birds go by him. "Thanks, I was getting hot.", was all his response was. "Let me return the favor. It must be tiring to fly and make you sweat a lot.", said Eight Ball as he swung his staff around at them.

Not one to leave a portal unused though, he eyed it like a kid at a candy store. It could be anything on the other side. A less lucky guy would take a measured approached and wait for his teammates. Eight Ball was lucky, things worked out for him. "Its been fun bird guys, but there is a portal asking to be jumped into. If you are still here we can hang out more.", he says as he takes off in worse shape than he thought he was in apparently. It actually made him a little tired. That was nothing digging deep couldn't fix though. "See you on the other side! Geronimo!", exclaims Eight Ball before jumping in.

    THE CAST
HP: 1, Status: Normal, Location: Angel Island, near mystic portal

Over a dozen mouths emitted an expletive in unison as they noticed the shrinking portal. Still... the flying warriors had to be stopped. Maybe...

One of Tim uninstantiated, then the two closest to the portal immediately ran and jumped through. So far, so good; it seemed that as long as it was open, he could be in both worlds at once.

The rest of him turned their eyes skyward again and once more prepared to take down their targets.

OOC: Switching from Decoys to Barrier Crossing; Tim can now effectively see the other side of the portal. As this is Simultaneous, please apply any modifiers this round as appropriate.

Also once again Readying the same action: As soon as any avian swings his way, using Instant Mobs to attack for damage.

Instant Mobs: DC 16 Parry Save to take half damage; DC 18 or 21 Toughness Save afterwards.
My builds can be found in the Roll Call forum here. And, here's the latest version of The Cast.
Currently playing in: Xenoforce: Earth's Strangest Heroes, Ghost Town: Familiar Haunts and Pirates of the Terminus: A Simple Grab.

    Gamemaster

Eight Ball ducks one thrust before blocking another, the tip of his staff catching the shaft of one avian's spear while the opposite end digs deep into the other bird's gut. In a flurry of feathers, the bird-man behind Eight Ball collapses as he dashes away to the portal.

Meanwhile, the two bird-men circling above The Cast once more grow too close and are set upon. The first is caught mid-swoop but manages to use its momentum to escape while the other, higher cryptid is dragged down and knocked out.

    OOC:
For courageously charging in, Eight Ball receives a Hero Point.
Eight Ball's 15 misses, but the 30 is a critical and the minion receives no save.
For the sake of expediency, the birdmen near The Cast are already within Instant Mobs range: One passes the Parry save, but then fails the TOU save

Pratfall and Sanzo have turns available, one avian is left in the forest and one left near The Cast.

    Pratfall
    HP: 3

Pratfall sprinted back towards the melee. Along the way, he saw an Avian hovering by a surprisingly vicious looking branch, which held another Avian warrior impaled upon it. Pratfall leapt up and swung his hammer.
"Good night sweet prince: And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!" he said as he sailed by, headed for the portal.

    OOC
Doing a PA 3 (attack of 17 on a routine attack) for a DC of 28 on Toughness. Without Move-By action, he will fall short of the portal this turn.
