    Low Battery [Power Loss]
Cloudbreaker requires a regular recharge of electricity in order to maintain her power.

    Aesir Reborn[Secret]
Cloudbreaker is the reincarnation of Thor and even though she is not yet aware of her origins, there are those looking for the thunder god...

    That Stupid Dragon! [Rivalry]
On her first day at St Ambrose Cloudbreaker was beaten in an arm wrestling contest by fellow student Metakirb Setesh, he they went on to fight her one on one and beat in front of the whole school. Since then she's held a (largely one-sided) rivalry with the young dragon and she's going to punch him right in his stupid handsome face if it's the last thing she does!

    Headstrong [Quirk]
Cloudbreaker believes there is no challenge she can't overcome through the immediate application of overwhelming physical force.

    Total: Abilities:40/Skills:6/Advantages:3/Powers:53/Defenses:18

    Background

Always a health baby, Samantha Dorner lived a normal life until an encounter with a less than friendly dog at her local park as a young girl ended with the dog shattering it's teeth on her unbreakable skin, taken for a battery of tests shortly afterwards by her parents revealed that she possessed not only invulnerability but strength, flight and a rudimentary form of electrical channeling.

From there she grew up as more or less the strongest superhuman in her little town, she even got to play hero a couple of times, life was good...even if she did have these recurring dreams of frozen battlefields and strange monsters...

One of the first NPCs that appeared in my old Hero High campaign, she quickly got promoted to recurring NPC and would have eventually become a love interest for one of the player characters had the game continued. Also I wanna give a shout out to one of the OGs of character building, this isn't actually the original build I use for her and she went through a number of redesigns that I was never particularly happy with until I saw Kreuzritter's Power Gwen build which I was able to use as a chassis to make this one.

    Complications:

"I am the rightful leader of the St Ambrose Martial Arts Society!" [Motivation/Rivalry]
Blue Thunder carries a (entirely one-sided) grudge against fellow student Metakirb Setesh after he ousted him (entirely at his own instigation) as leader of the St Ambrose Martial Arts Society.

    Self-absorbed idiot [Reputation]
He might think he carries himself as some kind of romantic samurai but most people tend to think of him as a self absorbed buffoon.

    O~Hohoho [Rivalry]
Kevin despises his haughty sister (herself a late-blooming metahuman) and the feeling is mutual.

    Background

Born to a pair of nouveau riche yuppies, Kevin Hampson spent most of his youth at an exclusive private boarding school. Whilst he was passable academically, where he truly thrived was at sport, kendo of all things (his parents didn't really understand his passion but they were just happy that they had trophies they could lord over their friends). This was until the day of a particularly heated final where his metagene activated, granting him the power of superspeed.

Not only was he disqualified from the tournament there and then but he was bared from even competing in future events. Whilst he was crestfallen his parents were secretly overjoyed, their son's new powers meant that they finally had an excuse to enroll him at the St Ambrose School for the Extraordinary after all their was nowhere more exclusive than that. Settling in at his new school the newly dubbed Blue Thunder sought to set up the 'St Ambrose Martial Arts Society' and managed to find enough students who shared his passion to make it a reality, boldly he claimed that he would cede leadership to anyone who could best him in single combat, the rest of the group just rolled their eyes. This policy would come back to bite him when he challenged another student who had been making waves and was soundly defeated, the last anyone saw of him he was heading in to the forests behind the school with an armful of watermelons and muttering about vengeance.

Continuing the theme of characters that randomly wanted to beat up the PCs here's Blue Thunder. The PC in question was played pretty much as a dragonic expy of Ranma Saotome so of course I needed to provide him with a Kuno. And like a good little Kuno expy he showed up once, spouted off and was knocked out in a single punch. Sadly the game folded before he could come back for round two.

Just as an opinion: his Bokken could be a Damage 6 effect instead of an Enhanced Strenght limited to attacks. After all that's what damage is for (and you wouldn't need to do STR-Based damage 0, as well as make the whole thing removable). Just an opinion, I'm not an expert of the system.
Good builds anyways! I like their stories!

Ooo my first response! Glad you like them.

Yeah you're right, I could just add Damage 6 to his combat Array and bundle the whole thing on to the Bokken (and probably save a few points besides) but having it as Enhanced Strength (Limited to Combat) has a few fringe benefits. Namely that he gets to add it to attempts to resist things like disarms, trips and grabs and having his array separate means that he still has some combat options even if he's disarmed.

This one is, lets say, highly controversial: Making a Damage effect that's resisted by an Active Defense can be extremely unbalancing, since Dodge & Parry can be easily compromised (or fully negated), in stark contrast to Fortitude, Will or Toughness - if you manage to catch him off-guard (and that's quite easy), you can drop even the mightiest foe with a single blow. Also, it would be unduly effective vs objects & vehicles, enabling you to theoretically destroy tanks & even battleships with extreme ease.
The same counts for Afflictions targeting active defenses AND being able to cause tier 3 conditions (fight-enders). That's not a problem with the classic Snare (resisted by Dodge, overcome by Strength), since it's limited to tier 2 conditions (severely hampering but no instant defeat, and you always can try to break free).
Just because something is "RAW-legal", it doesn't mean that you SHOULD use it. Just my opinion.

Oh for sure it's one of the more powerful options in the game but I think there's enough workarounds on it that you don't need too much scrutiny. Youcan limit its impact by building a character without defensive trade-offs, you can hand out Uncanny Dodge like candy to avoid being caught off-guard and if you're supposed to be just that tough you can easily pay for immunity to defense resisted attacks. And you know it's one of the few things that penalizes Toughness shifts over Defense shifts and people that spam All-Out/Power Attack, heaven knows we need more those.

    Toughness:10
    Fortitude:8 [8]
    Will:8 [8]

    Total: Abilities:0/Skills:15/Advantages:11/Powers:78/Defenses:16

    Complications:

A Mind of its Own (Maybe?) [Quirk]
Whether Yui's hair is an entity unto itself or merely acting on her own repressed impulses it can act out on its own without her commands.

    FIRE BAD! [Phobia]
Related to the above, her hair is deathly afraid of fire and will do its best to avoid it if at all possible, up to and including removing itself (and Yui) from the vicinity.

    Eating for Two [Quirk]
The hair seems to have an almost bottomless hunger and if not saited Yui will start to feel its effects too. Needless to say she spends A LOT on food.

    Family Money [Relationship]
Yui's Wealth Benefit isn't actually hers but represents her family's money. Whilst they don't tend to scruitinise her spending too hard (especially as long as she continues to excel) an incredibly outlandish purchase could draw their attention.

    Noblesse Oblige [Responsibility]
Whether by the strength of her Quirk, her academic excellence or simply the station of her birth Yui believes that she is better than 'normal' people. This however carries with it a strong sense of obligation to be generous and to help them wherever she can.

    Parental Approval [Motivation]
Yui sees becoming a hero as just another way to get attention from her distant mother and father.

    The Idiot [Rivalry]
Yui has nothing but contempt for her fellow classmate Channing Jackson after being humiliated by him on the first day of school.

    Backstory:

The only child of wealthy business people Yui Oshiro was born in to a life of wealth and privilege but money isn't everything. Yui learned this at a young age when she was more familiar with her private tutors and her home's staff then she was with her own parents. Even the time they did spend together was more like her lessons than a proper parent/daughter relationship, they drilled her on social etiquette (petrified that she could cause them to lose face in front of their peers) and business practice (all the better to one day take the head of their business). In fact, the only time they showed her anything resembling affection was when she achieved, when she gave them something to brag about between business meetings, fortunately for her Yui excelled academically and she threw herself in to her schoolwork. She didn't really care that it alienated her from the rest of the students at the private academy she attended, all that mattered was that every time she won some award or accolade her mother and father would tear themselves away from board meetings and business trips to come and spend time with her, the only other time they'd done such a thing was the day that her Quirk had manifested...

It had been a strange week at the Oshiro Manor, things had been going missing, just little things, certainly nothing of enough value that the house staff could be suspected theft and to top it all off Yui had been complaining of tiredness and hunger pains for days, not to mention the distress the effects on her studies was causing her. It was only after her third appointment to a private doctor (accompanied by one of the house staff of course) that the answer to both these mysteries present itself when Yui's hair snatched a banana off of the doctor's desk and devoured it whole, spitting the peel back a few minutes later. Having feared that their daughter was suffering from some kind of wasting illness her parents hurried home to be with her for every step of her Quirk diagnosis and afterwards made sure she had all that she could eat from her favourite restaurant, for Yui it was better than her birthday and firmly marked her Quirk, strange as it may be, as something 'good' in her mind.

It was several days later returning from a shopping trip that Yui decided that she would use her Quirk to become a superhero, her driver was stopped due to a road closure caused by several heroes attempting to bring a criminal to justice. It was there, with her head poked out of the window that she not only watched these colourfully dressed crime fighters protecting civilians and saving the day but heard the cheering, the praise and the adoration that the people around her heaped on to them. It was everything that she'd ever wanted and if she was going to become a super hero she was going to go to the country's top academy because she was Yui Oshiro and anything less would be a disgrace.

Moving away from my homebrew universe for a while here's a character that I got to play in a short live MHA AU game.

    -Kimura Family Training Regimen [16]

    -Heroic Second Wind [4]
Healing 3 (Restorative, Triggered:Staggered)(Limited:Triggered Only, Self Only)

    Offense:
    Initiative +8

    Defenses:

    Dodge:8 [8]
    Parry:8 [8]
    Toughness:8
    Fortitude:8 [4]
    Will:8 [8]

    Total: Abilities:8/Skills:18/Advantages:15/Powers:51/Defenses:28

    Complications

Don't Rain on My Parade [Power Loss]
Hina needs her hands to be dry in order to use her Quirk.

    So...Hungry...[Power Loss]
Similarly Hina's Quirk burns a whole lot of calories giving her a ravenous appetite.

    Heroine of Justice! [Motivation/Honor]
Hina has a rather stereotypical view of what a hero is an how they should act, rightly or wrongly she does her best to live up to these ideals.

    The Wild Tigers [Enemy]
A gang that makes Hina's neighbourhood their home, they haven't forgiven her for the beating she gave them after they tried to extort money from her family's dojo.

    Kimura Style Dojo [Responsibility]
Hina will one day inherit her father's dojo and she may be called on to take care of it from time to time.

    Book Dumb [Quirk]
Hina was never the brightest penny in the fountain, worse her Quirk made her overconfident, she has a tendency to blunder in to situations (combat and social) without taking the time to properly consider her actions.

    Background:

Hina here was what I was going to pitch before I settled on Yui, so she doesn't really have a backstory as such but I think her Complications give a pretty good outlook on who she. In practice I would have played her like some combination of Bang Shishigami, Kamina and of course Nisa.

    Re: Dodgson's Builds

    Next up, the Meta-Hoodlums!

Okay they may never have been called that 'on screen' but I still like the name. What we have here is the first metahuman threat my players ever faced as they attempted to kidnap one of the PCs. Suffice to say this didn't end well for them and one their number ended up disassembled on the street and threatened to take the rest of the block with them.

Luckily the situation was resolved by the best power stunt ever and the group was convinced to abandon their life of crime and enroll at St Ambrose (which would become something of a theme as the campaign progressed).

Heartbreaker - Projective Empath and team leader
Effigy - Way too in to it fire controller
    Vanguard - Amnesiac cyborg
Creep - Thing that goes bump in the night.
