We succeed in barely referencing Star Wars for this episode, as we talk about the battlefield-controlling Force Mage! We push and pull some strategies and tips for utilizing this master of telekinetic power! We also take our time with some returning and new listener questions, particularly about why there are no REAL Templars in Tevinter!

Re: Wonders of Thedas Episode 40: Use the Force, Mage!

Thanks for the podcast, as ever. I'm going to have a go at modifying my Gurgut template to design some Varghests, giving them a unique stunt to provide some flavour and differentiation, as per your advice.

With regard to the Force mage specialisation, I must admit I didn't realise that only the Hawkes possibly use it in the computer games. The fact that it tends to be geographically limited to Kirkwall, and that it is very similar to the Rift mage specialisation in DA: Inquisition, makes me wonder - could this be due to the weakness of the Veil in Kirkwall, due to the mass exercise of blood magic?

Studying the specialisation on the Dragon Age wiki provoked a query, that can be my question for your next podcast: apparently the Force mage talents in the computer game did not have much effect moving non-bipedal creatures - ie, those with four or more legs. Do you think a house rule could be implemented that makes it more difficult to knock prone, by stunt or magic effect, creatures with four or more legs? My own thought is to make the stunt cost 1 SP more in combat, and to give four-legged creatures (including Varghests!) a +2 bonus to tests vs magic that attempt to topple or move them, and a +3 to something like Giant Spiders. What do you think?

    Keep up the good work!

Welcome back to the Wonders of Thedas! We’re having a special lecture on magic in a week, but we need a topic!

We’ve blasted dark spawn with Primal magic, and brought our foes down to our level with Entropy. We still have two magic schools to cover (save for Blood Magic, but that is for another show).

Which would you like to hear about?

    Creation

    Spirit
