Firstly I'm not sure if I'm posting in the appropriate place. I've based my homebrew system on the AGE system using the Dragon Age rulebooks as my reference, but it's so changed it's almost unrecognisable from the source and completely unrelated in theme. I figured since my understanding of Fantasy AGE is that it's basically made for homebrewing, I thought I'd try here.
My system I've titled "Certatus - Gladiatorial RPG", and I've pretty much drafted all the mechanics except for the character backgrounds and all the lore out in a google doc. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...it?usp=sharing
I had the idea based on an old PS2 game I loved called "Gladius". Gladiatorial schools travelling to different nations trying to win the championship, with a world-ending plot threading around and through it all. Many of the system tweaks I've made and the lore I have in mind are intended to recreate the feel of that game.
Major changes I've made are simplified abilities, more classes, "grandmaster" level talents instead of specialisations, and an overhaul to magic and mana use. I'm also toying with the idea of giving each background a special ability to further distinguish them.
Things I'm unsure of the most are class balance (I think the Medium class may be too strong, or at least the Heavy not strong enough to match) and spell balance. I very rarely play magic classes in any system so I have less frame of reference.
This is my first attempt at homebrewing anything, let alone modifying an entire system, so I recognise it could be seriously flawed. I don't have the experience to spot what could potentially go wrong, which is why I'm seeking feedback. Please be as harsh a critic as you like, I want to learn and make it better!
