    Kaulu's M&M 3e Characters

I've gotten addicted to just creating M&M characters for fun, so I thought I'd start posting them here. I'll have a record of them and maybe other people will even comment and offer improvements from time to time.

I had thought to continue this thread next by making low-PL M&M characters for the TV show Leverage, but ... I'm not sure they're well-suited to this game, since 4/5 of them aren't focused at all on combat.

What have you done with non-combatant characters to make them into interesting M&M characters in the past?

I'd like to see this. Although really it's 5/6 of them since you shouldn't forget Tara Cole. Then again, you probably ought to include Jim Sterling. And Chaos. And Maggie Collins.

Yes, Elliot would be the only one with any signifcant combat skills, but Hardison's gear (the EMP gun; Lucille; etc.) is important, too. But really interesting would be representing some of their non-combat talents: Sophie's high Deception, but it not working whilst she's on stage; Parker's super-stealth; Elliot's ability to identify merc types' backgrounds by innocuous things "It's a very distinctive _____________."

I think Nate might be the hardest. But then again, he's probably the one with most complications, and the one most likely to use them on things like "altering the scene".

With lower-level characters, it's more important what stats you put where, especially in the Skills & attack bonuses. Advantages are great for "character bits". For a more comedy-themed thing, you can actually use Powers for minor boosts. The less points you use, the more important it is how you place them.

I think you might know the series better than myself -- although my recently-launched rewatch will help with that.

Lucille, being a vehicle, is quite cheap in power points -- really mostly a van with a top-notch computer system. On the other hand, something should be done to make it clear how superior Hardison's earpieces are to standard commlinks -- and they should correspondingly be Devices rather than Equipment.

Sophie's trouble with performing on actual stages is probably just a Complication. What is better about Parker's super-stealth than just a high Stealth skill and Stealth Mastery? And yeah, I wasn't sure how to do Eliot's "very distinctive" schtick. Maybe a Limited Well-Informed or something?

Nate is the hardest, but I have the idea that he might have Affects Others Area (Perception) Advantages, such as giving the whole party Beginner's Luck as long as he's in communication with them.

If you want, you're welcome to hijack parts of my thread to get a start on stat blocks for these characters, and I'll contribute any suggestions I have.

Are you implying that maybe different members of the party should be different power levels? That ... could actually help a lot with portraying them the way they are on the show (with most much weaker in combat than the one combat powerhouse), but is it kind of inelegant?

Um, no. Not unless portraying the justice League as wildly varying in PL is "inelegant"

For what it's worth, the shows creator described the team as PL 6.
