    [Perpendicular-3]The universe of the Skyengines!

    [Perpendicular-3]The universe of the Skyengines!
    forgeshamans:
Half insane from their experimentations into Demimachinery, forgeshamans are Welrulites who try to reverse-engineer Demimachine-level technology. As this is insanely dangerous, those who succeed are viewed as holy men. (Despite this, most forgeshamans do not view themselves in such a manner...!)

    godrobots:
The unbelievably huge, hypersentient godrobots are towering in height, and frightening to behold, but it is they who maintenance the seven Skyengines! Built a million years ago by the ur-Monoliths, people through the solar system of Welrul worship the ever-silent godrobots as living deities.

    Gunners:
Humans who possess a Weaponized Icon; a form of Welrulite superhumans. Gunners cannot be bonded to a Tu-template!

    Holding:
The process via which a mortal corpse may be 'hollowed out' and worn as disguises by various ur-Monoliths.

    humans:
The dominant species of Welrul. Us!

    the Instrumentality:
Home of the ur-Monoliths, the Instrumentality is a galaxy-sized Demimachine 'cradle' holding Welrul as its most precious of cargoes!

    the seven planets of Welrul:
    Ae, Planet of Raw Madness::
Named after Ae (PL9/200pp), an ur-Monolith forgeshaman who long ago went mad, Ae (the planet) is a technophobic nightmare, where ikonswarms hunt down human infocrats laired up in impenetrable data-fortresses. The people live in grinding industrialized despair and polluted gloom. Placeholder.

Bes Ba Burutuuk, Planet of Antiquity and Barbarity:
Named after Bes Ba Burutuuk (PL11/200pp), an ur-Monolith psychic obsessed with Holding a human body, Bes Ba Burutuuk is a world-city that's fallen into barbarism. Petty tribes rule various neighborhoods, while the Ironbull Society performs horrifying human sacrifices to 'appease' the godrobots.

Meanwhile, animal-skull-helmed humanoids known as iksi raid human habitations from their lairs in the Shadowsblight, a region of Bes Ba Burutuuk given over to nature gone toxic. Placeholder.

    Heglelekiggi, Planet of Rivalry:
Named after Heglelekiggi (PL16/200pp), a two-headed ur-Monolith brick at war with itself, Heglelekiggi (the planet) is bitterly divided by two highly distinct nations---the blue-skinned moiwutuk of the Invincible and Ever-Victorious People's Democratic Republic of Isinli; and the purple-skinned unyuuu of the People's Freely Chosen Republic of Nfinti. Propaganda of the most extremely nationalistic kind flows freely on Heglelekiggi.

War-robots make up a substantial portion of Heglelekiggi's population, and're treated as full citizens with rights equal to any biological beings. Placeholder.

    Khaea, Planet of Golems:
Named after Khaea (PL12/200pp), a surgical genius ur-Monolith obsessed with 'improving' the human physiology, Khaea (the planet) is a 'peaceful' dominion fascinated with medical science---in all its aspects NOT just the normal 'benevolent' uses.

The primary expression of this medical obsession are the iksi, the very same savage humanoids who menace the planet of Bes Ba Burutuuk. Created in Khaea in vast cloning facilities, iksi are primitive cybernetic organism given over to extreme hyper aggression. Part of a MASSIVE study into aggression, hatred and the homicidal impulse, the iksi are grown on Khaea, then taken by bloat argue to Bes Ba Burutuuk where they're left to cause havoc, whilst their creators observe from afar!

    Meson, Planet of Energy:
Named after Meson (PL15/200pp), a cosmic-energy-channeling ur-Monolith devoted to the study of the most incomprehensible of Demimachines. Cause and effect break down here, and time...stutters...every so often, causing the same event to play out in successively different outcomes.

More resembling an insect hive than a 'normal' planet, Meson is biotissues coagulated around the massive Demimachine cores that connect Meson to its specific Skyengine 'cradle'. Placeholder.

    Wawkirri, Planet of Artifice:
Named after Wawkirri (PL5/200pp), the inventor among the ur-Monolith 'race'. Here, non-Demimachine technology is researched...and ethics in research don't apply: Wawkirri is ruled by a fractious 'council' of 9 superpowered cyborgs/precognitives known as the Ironseers. Each Ironseer is devoted to pushing mortal technology to its uttermost limits, with Demimachinery being considered impure/'blasphemous'. Placeholder.

    Za, Planet of Meditation:
Named after Za (PL5/200pp), a precognitive/postcognitive ur-Monolith with only a handful of prophetic peers scattered throughout the entirety of the Forever Tree! The Great Aye, he who permits the flow of time in Welrul (as a universe), is worshipped as a god by the people of Za; they obsessively follow the Great Aye's every action for some small clue to prophecy... Placeholder.

    Skyengines:
The greatest creations of the ur-Towers are, without a doubt, the seven Skyengines that keep Welrul's planets from colliding in a pinball-like Armageddon of cosmic proportions!

    Sungod operatives:
Obviously, the Sungods have a team member from Perpendicular-3. Placeholder.

    Tu-templates:
Energetic, immaterial psionic alien lifeforms, Tu-templates are utterly passive, requiring the unique neural energy of humans to survive. So, Tu-templates will find a resonating human host and overlay themselves into that person's quantum perception of themselves---granting their hosts superpowers, in the process! However, those with Tu-templates cannot integrate with Weaponized Icons!
    Tu-ahkhi:
Humans bonded with Tu-templates allowing for telepathic illusions.

    Tu-mala:
Humans bonded with Tu-templates that allow them to channel and control gravimetric force.

    Tu-narthu:
Humans bonded with Tu-templates that allow them to generate 'force-construct' extra limbs and sensory 'organs'.

    ur-Monoliths:
Created by the dying ur-Tower species to inherit Welrul, ur-Monoliths are few in number---only 331 exist!---but it is they who rule supreme. Ur-Monoliths build the 109 godrobots to assist the ur-Monoliths in their never-ending battle to upkeep the beyond massive Skyengines! Placeholder.

    ur-Towers:
A godlike alien species, ur-Towers created both the ur-Monolith race AND the entirety of Welrul's Skyengines---they were later driven extinct after a massive war with the Sunsphinx space gods!

    Weaponized Icons:
Demimachines, each Weaponized Icon is a unique Device that grants highly powerful and destructive superpowers to those who hold them. Holders of Weaponized Icons are known as Gunners. To hold a Weaponized Icon is to forever deny yourself access to a Tu-template!

    Welrul:
The solar system holding the Skyengines and their seven captive planets. Beyond Welrul lies the Instrumentality; beyond that, Useful Oblivion.

The Beyond! [Part 1 of 2]

The Beyond! [Part 1 of 2]
    What's the Beyond?
Put simply, 'the Beyond' is everytHing thAt exIsts, weLl, beyond the OuTer SHEll that serves as the Forever Tree's dimensional 'skin'.

The Beyond is a place of raw potentiality, a slowly-churning stew of 'What if?' and 'Maybe?' It's diMensionAlly very uNstable, and the BeYond has a highly-corrosive efFect on 'stAble realities' suCh as thE Forever Tree.

One Thing thE Beyond isn'T, howEver, is chaos. The BeyonD may be raw possibility in the form of mutable space/time, but it's shifting cosmic tides are predictable, reliable and even deal able with. As events in the Forever Tree unfold, 'echoes' of those events ripple out past the Outer Shell, taking on new permutations, before washing away to oblivion.

    What dwells in the Beyond?
A GrEt many horrifying things, actually, from the Cthulhu Mythos to Earth-Z's earthhaunts! The most terrifying, however, are the Vast-hulks, a species of ten-million-miles-long cosmic 'jellyfish'. Vast-hulks are ceaselessly hungry for entire multiverses to consume. Even for them, however, eating an entire multiverse cannot be accomplished alone, so Vast-hulks travel---usually!---in 'pods' of about a dozen meMbers. Placeholder.

What is the 'geography' of the Beyond?
    the Outer Shell:
This is the outermost limit of the Forever Tree, actually being the membrane that dimensionally separates the stable multiverse from the chaos-infused Beyond. Antimatterbodies rule the Outer Shell utterly. These odd sentinels dissuade would-be explorers with horrific acts of uncompromising hyperviolence.

    the Echoing Lands:
Pale, transitory and flimsy, the Echoing Lands are clinging to the Outer Shell on the Beyond side of the fence. The Echoing Lands are temporary "What if" timelines, possible ways events in the Forever Tree could have gone. Earth-K's Manifold Giants Wish their Mirrors up from the Echoing Land.

    the Faded Lands:
Here, 'What if?'-style timelines grow more outlandish and change themselves out much quicker. Placeholder.

    the Drift:
Here, change is slow and predictable and as inevitable as an earthquake. On a VERY localized level, TINY changes occur constantly. THIS is where the Majestoi dwell in silent contemplation... Placeholder.

    the Tempest:
Causal reality breaks down in the Tempest, with everything happening at once, omnitemporally. Time-travel, in fact, functions by briefly 'diving' into the Tempest and 'regurgitating' oneself back into the Forever Tree, taking advantage of the Tempest's 'all-Time' qualities. Placeholder.

    the Alien Shores:
These are other stable multiverses, and're nearly impossible to reach. The Beyonder herself only knows of one such alien shore---the Multi-Faceted Gem!---but others SURELY exist! Placeholder.

    the Ends of Infinity:
Here, at the very outermost limits of the Beyond, sit multiverses with genuine magic, such as the high fantasy Architecturae and the Four Worlds of Ambideus.

Does the Star Corps have any interest in the Beyond?
    Aum watches it, certainly;

Do the Sungods have any operatives in the Beyond?
    No. None.

    Well what about Sunsphinx, then?
    Placeholder.

Is there anything, pardon the pun, 'beyond the Beyond'?
Quite a bit, actually. Countless universes and multiverses float in the Beyond, so far away from the Forever Tree as to be essentially unreachable. However, superheroes specialize in 'the impossible', and the following Alien Shores are known to a VERY select few:

The Architecturae is found within the Ends of Infinity, and is a multiverse where genuine magics are practiced. Focusing on a single planet and its habitable/inhabited moon, the Architecturae is home to humans, elves, dwarves and more! (The Qimrri dwell here in huge numbers.)
    The Architecturae is MY creation!

Ha-Ayyutt is the alien, non-Euclidean realm of the Qimrri. Ha-Ayyutt is well within the Edges of Infinity.
    Ha-Ayyutt is my own creation...

The Multi-Faceted Gem is another superhero multiverse. The Multi-Faceted Gem is found in the Alien Shores. Other than the fact that it's considerably larger than the Forever Tree, not much is known of the Multi-Faceted Gem.
The Multi-Faceted Gem is own my own creation.

The Mythos Realms, which is the multiverse containing the universes of Call of Cthulhu, CthulhuTech and Void roleplaying games. The Mythos Realms are found in the Alien Shores.
Obviously, the Mythos Realms are not of my own creation, being the creations of a rather awesome RPG company I am a great fan of!

The Resurgence, which is the universe of the Eclipse Phase roleplaying game. The Resurgence is found in the Alien Shores. Placeholder.
Obviously, the Resurgence is not of my own design!

World-and-Maze, a dark fantasy universe, which is found here.
World-and-Maze is a setting of my own design!

The Beyond! [Part 2 of 2]

The Beyond! [Part 2 of 2]
What are the Matterbodies, and how do they relate to the Antimatterbodies?
The MatterbodiES are opposites to the Antimatterbodies, able to stabilize the Beyond by 'eating' portions of the EChoing LAnds clearing the way for NEW PossibilitiEs!

Matterbodies are either Purple, Red, Teal or Yellow. Placeholder.

What are the BrIngerS Forth by Day, and how do they relate to the Reapers?
As the Reapers collect the souls of the dead, the Bringers Forth by Day are Natives Of The Beyond who ferry Preborn sOulSSIBLE into the Forever Tree, whereupon they enter a baby WHILE STILL IN the womb. PlaCeHolder.

What are the MAjestOi, and how do they relate to the imperiex?
Majestoi are Shadows of the imperiex, a psychic reflection mirrored, in leSser form, in the shifting alteration and revision of the Beyond. Though clearly cosmic entities, Majestoi are NOT PLX and lack the ability to exist in stable coherent cosmology. Placeholder.

    [parallel-Earths] Crossovers!

    CROSSOVERS!
Sometimes, people traverse from parallel-Earth to parallel-Earth having very weird adventures! Placeholder.

    the Apkallu:
    Placeholder.

    interdimensional heredity and genetics:
It is inevitable that travelers of opposite genders will meet, fall in love and have families; it is equally so for travelers of different parallel-Earths.

Of course, superhumans from parallel-Earth to parallel-Earth often bear little correlation to each other, resulting in...strange...hybrid progeny!

    mutants:
Multiple Earths have mutants; these mutants are only superficially the same, in fact being very different from parallel-Earth to parallel-Earth.

    the Red Sons:
    Placeholder.

    the Star Corps:
    Here's an introduction!

    Placeholder.

    Starvampires/Tlolkku:
    An introduction to Starvampires!

Tlolkku and their sanguinary undead kinsmen are, sadly, everywhere. Placeholder.

    the Sungods:

    [Perpendiculars] Crossovers!

    CROSSOVERS!
Sometimes, people (or more eldritch beings) travel from Perpendicular to Perpendicular, having genuinely strange adventures! Placeholder.

    the Apkallu:
Obviously, the sinister Apkallu have interests in the Perpendiculars; it's just...the Perpendiculars' Apkallu are much more alien in their deviltry, as the civilizations in a Perpendicular always bear only the smallest resemblance to Earth (if even THAT).

Because of that, these Apkallu are often very different than their parallel-Earth kinsfolk.

_-\|_-The Apkallu of Perpendicular-1 are nigh-universally equipped with dieselpunk cyberlimbs and weaponry of great efficacy.

    _-\|_-The Apkallu of Perpendicular-2

Demon-Apkallu dwell in the Bowl of Uruku, and use their technology to blend in seamlessly as 'gods' and 'goddesses'.

Devil-Apkallu have infiltrated the World of Stone's all-powerful Totemic Priesthood, but must move cautiously, lest they be uncovered and purged.

Djinn-Apkallu scorn Linntuuu and do not come here in very great numbers.

    _-\|_-The Apkallu of Perpendicular-3

    _-\|_-The Apkallu of Perpendicular-4

_-\|_-The Apkallu of Perpendicular-5 are slaves to the Great Old Ones, their paltry evil drowned out by the ocean of madness that is the Cthulhu Mythos. These Apkallu are violently xenophobic and have willingly declared war on their non-Mythos-worshipping kinsmen elsewhere in the multiverse!

Demon-Apkallu call themselves the Spawn of Ublo-Satha.

Devil-Apkallu call themselves the Sons and Daughters of Nyarlathotep.

Djinn-Apkallu call themselves the Church of Yog-Sothoth.

_-\|_-The Apkallu of Perpendicular-6 are a spit-upon minority, treated with contempt by the Sunsphinx majority. Aeion's Apkallu were defeated by the Sunsphinx two decades ago in the Heavenlywar, and have been reduced to second class citizenry after unconditionally surrendering at the war's conclusion. Placeholder.

    the Black Coven:
    Here is an introduction!

    'divinities':
Many Beings in the various Perpendiculars either believe they are divine or want others to believe they are divine---foremost amongst them, Perpendicular-6's Sunsphinx race of Space Gods.

    higher-order intelligences:
    Placeholder.

    Perpendicular-2's Ban on (Most) Demimachinery:
On Linntuuu for reasons still not entirely clear 99% of all Demimachinery simply ceases working on Linntuuu, proper (as in the planet, not the surrounding universe!). This is referred to by dimensional sojourners as 'the Ban'. Exactly what causes the Ban is still extremely uncertain (even as many theories float about suggesting possibilities)! Placeholder.

    the Star Corps:
    Here's an introduction!

    Starvampires/Tlolkku:
    An introduction to Starvampires!

Tlolkku and their sanguinary undead kinsmen are, sadly, everywhere. Placeholder.

    the Sungods and the Sunsphinx:
    Here's an introduction...

    ...and here's another!

    [Multiverse-Wide]Exotics!

    [Multiverse-Wide: Exotics!]
    What are Exotics?
Found in every single reality of the Forever Tree, albeit always in extremely small numbers, 'Exotics' are 'one-off' superhumans that fit into no neat little category.

What kind of superpowers do Exotics possess?
Theoretically anything, as long as it isn't magic or magic-related, and as long as it can be explained via the wonky technobabble of comic book 'superscience'.

    Do Exotics have Exemplars?
No. They do not possess Exemplars. By definition, unique entities cannot have 'perfect specimens'.

    [Perpendicular-6]An intercepted Sunsphinx codex

    [Perpendicular-6]An intercepted Sunsphinx codex.
A DETAILED ANALYSIS OF THE CURRENT TECHGNOSTIC WAVE, AND ITS IMPLICATIONS FOR FUTURE OPERATIONS THROUGHOUT THIS PORTION OF THE LOCAL DOMINION
    Ash the Starbuilder, Mighty-among-the-Mighty
To You Who are Most High,
I give salutations and greetings, along with deepest apologies for the excessive tardiness of this report. Trans-Dominion travel is, at least, an inexact science; at worst, it's mere guesswork. Furthermore, I encountered complications along the way that drastically lengthened the duration of my mission. These complications were unavoidable, even for such as I.
My travels through the Local Outer Dominion were, as you are well aware, prompted by a growing desire for and need of fresh Useful Oblivion. In recent epochs supplies have been running perilously low. Ergo, it was a logical decision to send out a scouting party, to wit, I and my cohorts in Retrieval GAMMA.
What we found is of direst concern to our resource-management time table: reserves of wild Useful Oblivion have catastrophically declined, resulting in the Local Outer Dominion growing minutely more stable. Redundant timelines have dropped by 0.1%, a gargantuan decline, considering the sheer scale we are speaking of.
Furthermore, mass migrations from the Local Outer Dominion to the Local Inner Dominion have experienced a similar 0.1% spike---which, again, is an enormous figure, when the sheer scale of it is taken into consideration.
Designate-K and Designate-L have experienced such migrations in recent history. Furthermore, our nascent kin on Designate-Z are suffering a catastrophic population-decline from a third migration, which is calamitous as Designate-Z has the first superhuman population to arrive to the edge of Sunsphinx apotheosis. Hopefully, you and your associates have these problems well in hand.
Local Inner Dominion dimensional integrity is coming under increasingly overt self-reliance, as Step 2 biomortal species start to take their cosmic fate into their own hands. We can only hope they choose wisely. May I remind you of the Necrophage Incident in the most recently eradicated Weavery-sheaf? That was a colossal disaster, and was ultimately resolved not by us, but rather, by resourceful Step 2 biomortals. That is a lesson we should all keep in mind.
The upcoming techgnostic wave is being prepared as I write this very report. Changes to the Local Inner Dominion should be, at worst, extremely minimal. My Retrieval GAMMA techgnosis expert assures me the chances of a collapse are so marginal as to not even genuinely exist. However, I have complied with Regulations and have set up leyline gardens on each Designate.
(As a note, the Designate-G leyline gardens have been observed by local biomortals, Steps 0-2. It shouldn't be a problem.)
Unfortunately, all is not entirely according to the time table. As I mentioned at the begining of my report, I and Retrieval GAMMA faced unexpected difficulties while prospecting for Useful Oblivion: namely, a techgnostic wave-formation that nearly crippled our ark. We were adrift in Local Outer Dominion R3 for several Aeion-standard months, during which time several possible timelines rippled forth with considerable slowness, compared to R3's normal 'stately' progression. While the narratives of each timeline varied somewhat, the overall message was quite clear: war in the Local Inner Dominion appears to be in the works.
Thus, while our dimensional integrity is most assuredly affirmed, domestic dimensional turmoil is inevitable. It is my recommendation we put the Sungods on L3 alert.
Thank you for your time in reading this report. As ever, Ave Deus.

[Earth-F]A dissertation on local superhumanity: part 1 of 2!

[Earth-F]A dissertation on local superhumanity: part 1 of 2.
    MACHINE-DEITIES:
    What are 'Machine-Gods'?
Machine-Deities are humans from 1112 CE Europe and 1112 CE Asia, infused via radical picotechnology instasurgery into superpowered cyborgs. Male Machine-Deities are designed for heavy, sustained conflict; female Machine-Deities are rebuilt for stealth and reconnaissance. Placeholder.

Where did all this tech come from??!
Aliens. To be specific, a species known as the tzorareesph, a species in a losing war against the Tlolkku. Dying and running out of time, the tzorareesph unleashed the Deityplague on medieval Earth, intent on whipping up an army of superhuman soldiers. laceholder.

Why are Machine-Gods found ONLY in Europe and Asia?
Pure chance. The tzorareesph chose two major population-centers more-or-less at random. Factoring into the decision, however, was the European and Asian propensity for organized, large-scale conflicts, but, to be honest, the aliens could have just as easily chosen the Middle East and South America. Placeholder.

Well, then---why aren't the Machine-Gods being shipped off to some extrasolar battlefield? Why are they running free, ignorant to their superpowers' true origins?
The answer is quite simple, really: the Tlolkku wiped the remaining tzorareesph out in the hours immediately following the Deityplague, and then, not knowing---or caring!--what their slain enemies'd done, just turned around and left. Machine-Gods were created to fight in a war, but never had masters to answer to.

Indeed, Machine-Deities're utterly ignorant to their intended purpose, instead inventing their own beliefs as to why what has happened, happened!

What kind of superpowers do Machine-Deities possess?
In theory: why, any suite of superpowers're possible, including psionics, shapeshifting, even dimension-hopping and time-travel!

However, because their makers died so quickly, Machine-Deities were never equipped with additional weaponry, meaning the Device and Gadgets superpowers are not available.

However, all Machine-Deities receive the following powers at no cost during character generation:
A Head Above the Rest: Density 1 (Feats: Innate; Flaws: Permanent). (0pp.) Growth 1 (Feats: Innate; Flaws: Permanent). (0pp.) --- (0pp.)
    Built to Last: Features 1 (cast-ironstomach). (0pp.) Immunity 1 (aging). (0pp.) --- (0pp.)
    ---/>_-This is a completed universal Machine-Deity power-set build.

How many Machine-Gods and Machine-Goddesses are there?
Quite a few: nearly a half-million, roughly divided between Europe and Asia.

    Is there a Demimachine Exemplar?
Yes. A Tibetan Bon shaman, LIONSHAMAN (PL14/280pp), a four-armed, lion-headed paragon, is the Machine-God Exemplar. Possibly the most powerful of all Machine-Deities, LIONSHAMAN is an ally of the Second Sect, a 'brotherhood' of Starvampire-worshippers! (As you might imagine, LIONSHAMAN is a supervillain!) Placeholder.

    Are Machine-Deities Demimachines?
    Yes.

    What do Machine-Deities look like?
    Placeholder.

    Is the Earth-F imperiex a Machine-Deity?
No. The Overlord is a psychic utterly unrelated to the machineries of the tzorareeh. He is, in fact, an Exotic! (The Overlord is discussed elsewhere.)
