-Bighorn Sheep are a pretty classic mountain-going herbivores, famous for their climbing abilities, and living where nothing else wants to go. Their horns hit hard (they also have Power Attack), they're big and tough, but they're PL 4 just like the Deer & Elk of the world. Other mountain-going animals like the Ibex can also suit this build.

-Mountain Goats are among the greatest climbers in existence- with their tiny feet and incredible stability, they can stand perfectly-fine on a rock the size of an outstretched hand! In that picture up there, there are DOZENS of them standing on the side of a damn near VERTICAL rock wall! And they're not even stressed out! They're just sittin' there like "oh, hey".

    Antelopes

    ANTELOPES:
-Generally, these poor bastards are pretty much like Deer. They're sometimes small (the Dik-Dik, real animal and not a made-up vulgar kids' name), weighs less than 20 lbs. in some instances), sometimes very large (the Eland is as large as any cow breed in the world), but generally are a "Prey" species, and the most we usually see of them is some poor schmuck being chased down by Lions or Wild Dogs, or being surprised by a Crocodile. They're basically the "Washington Generals" of the Animal Kingdom. They differ from Deer both in habitat (they're almost exclusively African creatures), and the nature of their horns, which are not seasonal, and are keratin-sheathed bone, not to mention incredibly different in size and scope, with little pegs sometimes, giant spirals in others, but they're never branched.

-Checking out the master list I have (a Smithsonian Institution book called Animal), I see six distinct sizes:

    Tiny (less than 100 lbs.): The Chousinga (46 lbs.), Duiker (55), Steenbok (35), Dik-Dik (15), Blackbuck (95), Klipspringer (40), Oribi (46), Thomson's Gazelle (66)
    Small (100-210 lbs.): Bushbuck (190), Lechwe (230), Puku (170), Reedbuck (210), Impala (145), Gerenuk (115), Springbok (105), Saiga (150), Chamois (110)
Medium Size (210-400 lbs.): Sitatunga (280), Nyala, Addax, Topi (340), Bontebok (340)
    Large (400-500 lbs.): Oryx (460), Gemsbok (460), Hartebeest (500)
Extremely Large (500-900 lbs.): Wildebeest (610), Kudu (690), Nilgai, Waterbuck (660), Kob, Roan & Sable Antelope (all around that size), Bongo (890)
    Huge (900+): Eland (2210)

    Total: Abilities: -14 / Skills: 12--6 / Advantages: 2 / Powers: 16 / Defenses: 2 (12)

    Range: Savannah of Africa
    Stereotypes: Exciteable & nervous.
    Colouring: Brown & white
Size: Up to 3 feet long (20-40 lbs.)
    Encounter Groups: Breeding pairs.
    Diet: Grass & vegetation
Tactics: Flee using speed or attack all-out with powerful antlers.

-The tiniest of Antelopes are easily-lifted by even the smallest people, and the neatest name belongs to the Klipspringer (Afrikaans for "rock jumper"), a 40-lb. quick-moving one. There's also the Oribi, Thomson's Gazelle, Duiker and Chousinga (a curiosity know for having TWO pairs of antlers!) around the same size, while the Blackbuck is about 95 lbs., and the hilariously-named Dik-Dik is a mere 15! Most of these differ from other Antelopes in that they form breeding pairs rather than herds, and maintain close, monogamous relationships throughout most of their lives.

    Diet: Grass & vegetation
Tactics: Flee using speed or attack all-out with powerful antlers.

-Impala are extremely fast, and usually paired up against Cheetah (one of the only predators that can outrun them- Impala still usually get away due to Endurance, though). They're very weak on their own, and pretty bad at fighting, so they're no dominant animal- anything can beat them up. At 145 lbs., many smaller Antelope species match them. Similar animals include the Bushbuck, Lechwe, Puku, Chamois, Reedbuck, Springbok and Gerenuk (a skinny antelope notable for standing on its hind legs to reach high branches), all fairly small, under-200 lb. animals that are faster than they are tough & strong. Also similar is the Saiga, which is curious mainly for its trunklike snout.

Tactics: Flee using speed or attack all-out with powerful antlers.

-Oryx are probably the coolest-looking of the mid-sized Antelopes, being 460-lb. heavy-duty Antelopes designed (like many of this size) for desert conditions. Their long, spiraled horns are one of many possible origins for the Unicorn myth. Naturally, these amazing horns are the reason why the animal was damn near hunted to exinction- there are currently none in the wild. Other breeds of Oryx are still out there, but similarly-rare.

-Similar creatures are the Mid-Sized Sitatunga, Nyala, Addax, Topi & Bontebok (under 400 lbs.), and the heavier Oryx species, Gemsbok, and the Hartebeest (460-500 lbs.). The Bontebok is highly-endangered and quite slow, making it easy prey for Lions & Hyenas. Desert specialists, most of these animals can survive temperatures that would kill most mammals, and are specially-adapted in other ways (absorbing water from their diet, and having super-efficient kidneys).

    Range: Savannah of Africa
    Stereotypes: Permanent victims. Grunting hordes.
    Colouring: Browny/grey
Size: Up to 8 feet long (260-610 lbs.)
Encounter Groups: Wild herds of 3-200 creatures.
    Diet: Grass & vegetation

-Hah, Wildebeest are such jobbers. You've seen Animal Planet? Then you've probably seen a Lion kick this thing's ass. Or a Crocodile. Or a Leopard. Hell, they're just THAT common and THAT easy for most predators to kill. They're so lame that their only two pop culture moments I can think of are the GNU internet thingie, and that crappy Teen Titans arc with the "Wildebeest Society". Well, they're not SO useless. At 600 lbs., they'd kick YOUR ass, and I've seen a Cheetah get crippled by one (she was saved by park wardens after having her jaw broken), but to a major, large predator? Not even close. It's elite version is only PL 4, since most of what they do is run, but they're not a huge pushover- that's still equal to your average armed Minion, as well as most of the Deer Family. Especially because their herds are GIGANTIC, and traverse the African Savannah, resulting in a massive Trample (stats up as: Damage 10- Area- 120ft. Burst +3) effect. Curiously, in spite of their herd sizes, they are somewhat at-risk.

-Antelopes are a big range of species, but about half of them fall into this statline. Among the other animals in the 600-lb. class of Antelopes are the Sable Antelope, Waterbuck, Roan Antelope (all with shorter curved horns), Kob, Kudu, Nilgai & Tope (L-shaped horns), etc. The 890-lb. Bongo is probably Strength 5, Toughness 6, making PL 5. Is it obvious I'm just reading names & images off of a big spread in my Animal book yet?

    Cattle

    CATTLE:
-Cattle are among the most important animals in human history- their ease of domestication (you need a fence and a field, really), sheer size, calmness, etc. has made them the ultimate farm animal. The book Guns, Germs & Steel actually posits that proximity to the diseases these things created were what allowed Europeans to take control of the entire globe, alongside a few other factors (see, cattle produce smallpox, which Europeans developed immunities to... many other peoples were not so lucky). Of course, the males of the species are notoriously ornery and quick to react with violence, to the point where they can be used in matadorial contests. For this reason, most farmers only keep a few un-castrated males around to further the herd, and leave the rest to lesser fates. Being really huge (ie. full of enough meat to feed entire families for weeks) and really easily cowed (where do you think the expression comes from?) into going and doing what you want, they're the perfect farm animal.

-Most cattle species are huge- except for the Eland, no other Bovine species comes close to most of these. The Yak is a relatively little cow, and its well over 1,000 lbs. in weight. Species include the Yak (woolly Asian cow), Banteng (also Asian), African & Water Buffaloes (similar-looking heavy creatures, the former Africa's only cow), the Bison of America & Europe, the Gaur (massive Indian species) and Muskox (really fluffy Arctic species).

    MODERN BULL (Bos primigenius taurus)
    Role:
    Background Livestock, Angry Violent Creature

    Initiative +4

    Defenses:
    Dodge +3 (DC 13), Parry +5 (DC 15), Toughness +7, Fortitude +8, Will +3

    Complications:
Disabled (Animal)- Bulls cannot speak to humans, nor use their hooves to easily manipulate objects.
Temper- Bulls often fly into an uncontrollable rage when provoked, acting foolishly and recklessly.

    Total: Abilities: 12 / Skills: 12--6 / Advantages: 6 / Powers: 12 / Defenses: 10 (46)

    Era: Modern
Range: Plains of All the Civilized World
    Stereotypes: Stupid. Aggressive.
Colouring: Gray, white, brown, black, red, tan
Size: Up to 11 feet long (1000-2200 lbs.)
Encounter Groups: Domesticated herds of 3-25 creatures.
    Diet: Grass & vegetation
Tactics: Attack all-out with powerful horns, goring viciously.

-There's not a whole lot of room for most cattle in campaigns, as they make crappy mounts (unless they're dragging your cart around Oregon Trails before you die of dysentery), and are pretty generic animals, unless you go all-out with crazy stuff like The Red Bull. Some of it's wilder relatives are more commonly-seen, and more powerful. But still, a standard Bull is a fearsome opponent, doing horrific damage and packing a really bad attitude- they will run you down and smash you into the ground, and entire herds of them can attack at once. Sure, they're just livestock, but a really mean one is a frightening opponent. The cows are naturally much calmer and less-powerful, generally packing itty-bitty horns by comparison to the males. But don't underestimate them- cattle cause a TON of injuries to farmers across the world, owing to thousand-pound weight and a lot of strength.

-A Bull is PL 6.5, and extremely strong and tough. The only predators that could threaten one are the biggest of the big, as most anything smaller than 300 lbs. wouldn't even bother tackling something this big. The injured and sick, MAYBE. But even Lions typically won't go up against a full-grown male. Wise farmers will note that a gentle bull will more likely kill his owner than the vicious one, of course you'll let your guard down around him- bulls are responsible for 42% of all livestock-related fatalities in the United States.

Hell yeah those things are dangerous as hell. Their back legs are strong, and they have a nasty set of talons on them. they could easily disembowel a human or at minimum cause grievous injury.

yep. penguin uses one to try and kill batman (whom he'd had the foresight to poison beforehand) in the classic BTAS ep "Almost Got 'im"
