Eh, the DCA builds aren't exactly highly efficient... Plus, Kryptonians are canonically known for using all their powers simultaneously. Daredevil rather frequently spends a couple panels self-narrating about shutting out certain stimulus to extend any one of his senses a bit.

So give him a baseline with four of his senses all at Extended (x10) or (x100), but have him dip into a Dynamic Array to go beyond that.

Also, the Kryptonians and Near-Kryptonians don't really have Senses on Daredevil's level: Superman 15pp, Supergirl 16pp, Superboy 7pp, Mon El 14pp, Ultra-Boy 12pp (waaay inefficient), Bizaro 13pp...

    Re: Jab's Builds!

A dynamic array really wouldn't save a lot of points- 2 powers are 1 point each, so there's only 3 powers in the array, which saves 6 points. Also, I'm aiming more for accuracy than efficiency.

And yes, nagirondart, I was quoting His Holiness, Casey Jones. I always use that quote when punky-looking characters show up .

    Insight 2 (+4)

    Advantages:
    Ultimate Law Skill

    Offense:

    Initiative +0

    Defenses:
    Dodge +0 (DC 10), Parry +0 (DC 10), Toughness +1, Fortitude +1, Will +5

    Complications:
Relationship (Matt Murdock)- The two are old and loyal friends.
Relationship (Debbie Harris)- After a situation where she seduced him for her evil boyfriend, she went straight and eventually married Foggy. They divorced after his social-climbing wife cheated on him.
Relationship (Rozalind Sharpe)- Foggy's birth-mother abandoned him as a child to pursue her own law career- he still followed her into law.

    Total: Abilities: 16 / Skills: 16--8 / Advantages: 1 / Powers: 0 / Defenses: 3 (28)

-Foggy Nelson was at first a bit of a tortured guy, torn between his love for Karen Page and his loyalty to Karen's beau, his best pal. However, he eventually turned into more of an "Everyman" pal to Matt, with his obesity and slothful behavior being played up over time. Generally, he gets caught up a lot in Matt's double life, and spent a long time in the dark about Matt being Daredevil- when he finally figured it out, he became a co-conspirator and the two became even better friends. He met his distant mother, got disbarred once, is constantly assaulted by Matt's enemies, has split angrily with Matt two or three times, has built a new Law Firm from the ashes about FIVE times, and more- a perfectly-acceptable Supporting Cast Character.

-Despite having been assaulted by villains on a constant basis, Foggy has nothing in the way of Defenses. Despite that, he's a very good lawyer- close to Matt's equal, despite Matt's greater intelligence. And since Foggy ISN'T known to the public as a crimson-clad vigilante, he tends to carry a bit more authority in court.

    Complications:
Relationship (Matt Murdock- Daredevil)- Karen's first real life was the shy, taciturn lawyer.
Relationship (Mike Murdock)- Matt, in order to conceal his identity as Daredevil, created a fictional twin brother- Mike. The fun-loving guy ALSO became an obsession of Karen's.
Relationship (Dr. Paxton Page- Father)- Karen's father assumed the guise of Death's Head (not the Cyborg Freelance Peace Officer, yes?).
Addiction (Heroin)- Karen somehow gets hooked on heroin at some point, and becomes a junkie, appearing in pornographic films to pay for her habit.
Quirk (Unlucky)- Karen has been cheated on, addicted to heroin, made to believe that she had AIDS, and then killed by Bullseye. All because Daredevil has the same Sexually-Transmitted Horrible-Fate problem that Namor has.

    Total: Abilities: 12 / Skills: 8--4 / Advantages: 1 / Powers: 0 / Defenses: 3 (20)

-Of all the 1960s Love Interests, the one with the worst luck is Karen Page. And when you consider that lists includes Gwen Stacy & Jean Loring, that's saying something. Poor Karen started out as your standard Marvel Love Interest, as Stan Lee populated his books with high-haired, curvaceous, pretty girls who generally acted with a combination of subserviance and mercurial temper (a contemporary says that Stan just wrote his "ideal woman"- his own wife). When Matt finally did the deed and revealed his secret identity to her, their relationship fell apart and she ended up leaving his firm to become an actress. She left the book for a long time, even joining Johnny Blaze's supporting cast as a performer in a film with Ghost Rider himself.

-Then, in one of the darkest turns for a 1960s character, Karen reappears in Matt's life, addicted to heroin and selling Daredevil's SECRET IDENTITY to a drug dealer, which he immediately sells to The Kingpin. She beats the habit and reunites with a fairly forgiving Matt, but he soon cheats on her with Typhoid Mary. She runs away and becomes an Anti-Pornography activist (BOOOOOO!!), leaving Matt after another attempted reuniting. She appears years later in Kevin Smith's Daredevil run, believing that she's infected with AIDS, and she is soon killed by Bullseye right in front of Daredevil himself.

-Karen, as a Female Love Interest in THE grittiest of all comic books (one bearing FRANK MILLER'S touch, no less), was not gonna have a lot of luck. But WOW- that is some rough stuff. Heroin, porn, AIDS and Death By Bullseye is a pretty bad combination. She makes what happened to Kyle Rayner's girlfriend look like the ending of Cinderella, to a point that I just feel is a bit over-the-top. It's a bad example of what can happen when one too many writers all come up with the same idea of "I know- let's have something bad happen to KAREN!" and just dogpile the stuff onto her- it's arguably for the BEST that Kevin Smith offed her, because otherwise she'd have probably shown up two or three more times, with OTHER horrible fates befalling her!

-Karen is your Standard Bystander, with a solid Fortitude Save owing to her surviving a drug addiction (heroin is a BITCH of a drug- my cop friend tells me stories about the "Oxycontin Kids" that got hooked once Oxy became unsnortable, and most of them end up dead within a few years), but a fairly poor Will Save, owing to... well, the drug thing. She had the Will to KICK IT, which is pretty rare (heroin withdrawal is one of the most horrible things imaginable- you feel like your body is on fire, you barf and crap constantly, and your muscles feel like death. For MONTHS. And all you need to fix it is a little puff), but she still had the lack of Insight to get hooked on it in the first place.

    Complications:
Relationship (Matt Murdock- Daredevil)- Urich uncovered Daredevil's real identity years ago, but has refused to announce it, seing the good that Matt did in his dual identity.
Relationship (Wife)- Ben was married for years, but his wife died (it wasn't revealed how) around Secret Invasion.

    Total: Abilities: 16 / Skills: 24--12 / Advantages: 0 / Powers: 0 / Defenses: 2 (30)

-Ben Urich was a neat little character in the Daredevil mythos- he not only added an extra name to the sometimes-slim Daily Bugle offices, but he was a classic GOOD REPORTER, in addition to fitting the blue-collar, grim world of Frank Miller's 1980s New York. In one of the better Twists in comic books, he uncovers the secret identity of Daredevil, and prepares to reveal it to the world (with a guaranteed Pulitzer)... only to refuse, because it would destroy Matt Murdock's life and career, and risk all of the good that Daredevil brings to the world. Instead, he becomes DD's close ally and confidant, sharing a part of Matt's life that few others can, while feeding him information. Ben later became a character in the Front Line books circa Civil War, but they're considered junk (that's where Sally Floyd had her infamous put-down of Captain America, decrying him as "irrelevant" because he didn't watch YouTube or Nascar).

-Urich is one HELL of a reporter and an even better investigator, having proven the illicit activities of both Wilson Fisk and Norman Osborn, in addition to figuring out Daredevil's secret identity. This is a rare attribute in comics, where even INTELLIGENT people are unable to recognize their closest friends if they wear domino masks, and super-villains can't figure out how DNA evidence or constant supervision allow them to uncover alter-egos.

    Total: Abilities: 84 / Skills: 66--33 / Advantages: 8 / Powers: 11 / Defenses: 11 (147)

-The Owl was a recurring Daredevil foe of the '60s who kept getting pushed back down, mainly because he was kind of goofy (vaguely Owl-like, but also a crimelord!). He was arguably DD's biggest recurring villain in the early days, in fact! A near-happening in the '80s was HIM being revealed as the guy behind X-Factor's woes- a role that eventually want to APOCALYPSE. Yeah, THIS guy as Apocalypse... think about how different the X-Books might've been.

-Anyways, The Owl was a financial wizard who was actually corrupt (and this was his origin BEFORE the 1980s Wall Street era of crooks became a thing!), and did some super-drugs to gain powers. Once Frank Miller took over, The Owl was kind of passe, and didn't show up much- becoming kind of a Mercenary Villain, bouncing around more minor characters like The Cat. It took until the year 2000 or so for him to get ANY kind of legitimacy, as DD had The Kingpin (on loan from Spider-Man going on 20 years), Bullseye & Elektra in his Rogues Gallery by that point, and didn't need Kingpin-Lite. He shows up from time to time nowadays (repeatedly being crippled then cured in a kind of sick trend), but has been sidetracked by both Fisk AND The Hood now- he's pretty much just "the guy who isn't the Kingpin but does Kingpin-like things"- a particularly-strong case of Mongul Syndrome. Humorously, he once screwed The Kingpin over once, but was then hired by Fisk, who either has selective amnesia or just thinks money is more important than silly things like vendettas.

-Basically a really expensive, smart, streetwise PL 9, The Owl is essentially Kingpin-Lite in almost every way, being just a notch below him in everything but raw power, and he's not quite as good a fighter, preferring to do things behind-the-scenes. Nonetheless, he's not to be trifled with, and is strong enough to put a major dent in Daredevil's activities, even though he's a PL lower. And apparently he's not a mutant, despite some reports that he was. Not sure why it matters.

I think Gotham City is proof that you can have multiple mafia-esque super villains in one city. I think Earth-616's New York City would benefit, from a narrative standpoint, if it's underworld was given a more layered structure.

Wilson Fisk as the undisputed Kingpin; The Hood, the Owl, and Tombstone as capo regime; associated jobbers as button men... Maybe repurpose some long underused guy, like the Rose, as a consigliere-type advisor.

They actually use to have that back in the day. Roughly the same time as Spiderman went through the Identity Crisis story there were a half dozen crime lords including The Rose & Tarantula among others who were controlling different aspects of crime in New York.... And they all had jobbers, two of whom were reoccurring lame villains who always worked together, but I've forgotten there names; a "blade era" vampire & a asgardian power house.

But over time the idea ran its course & marvel dropped it.

Now Marvels got to much canon in NYC, I'd prefer they move it & moon knight to L.A.... That or bring back Avengers West Coast.

Note to self: Add West Coast Avengers to trade pull list.

I sometimes wonder if Aunt May and J. Jonah Jameson are the only people in NYC-616 without costumed alter egos.
