  • Reverse-engineering NPCs from The World of Aldea

    Hi!

    I'm going to GM a Blue Rose game at local roleplaying convention, and currently I'm studying the system. In order to get more firm grasp on the rules I decided to reverse-engineer several NPCs from The World of Aldea, but ran into some problems.

    PALLAK JOSSON (The World of Aldea, p. 54)
    10th-level Jarzoni warrior; Initiative +4; Speed 30 ft.;
    Defense 19 (+1 role, +8 masterwork full plate armor);
    Attack +15 melee (+9 damage, masterwork greatsword),
    +14 melee (+6 damage, masterwork lance).

    Why does Pallak have only Defense 19?
    As I read it, it must be
    10 + 8 (armor) +1 (Dex) + 7 (role and level) = 26.

    Sorry for the late reply - I usually make a habit of checking this forum twice a week, but haven't for a few weeks. You're most definitely correct; Pallak should have a defense of 26 for the reasons you outlined. Looks like the creator of that particular NPC didn't figure in the +7 defense bonus.
