  • City of Aldis - New book?

I recently noticed there are links on Amazon and other sites indicating a new setting book for the City of Aldis is allegedly coming out this month. Doubtful it will be so soon, but has GR said anything about it? Couldn't find anything on their website.

Re: City of Aldis - New book?

              Hello there!

Yes, we are in the final stages of work on the City of Aldis sourcebook, likely releasing in Q3 or Q4 of this year. It's a great book, full of characters and locations for the capital of Aldis. I'll give a quick summary of its contents here:
              Introduction, introducing the city
Life in Aldis, looking at what life in the city is like, including things like healthcare, public works, and education.
History, detailing the history of the city, from its founding through the era of the Sorcerer Kings, to the founding of the Kingdom.
High Ward, detailing the High Ward of the city, including characters, locations, and tons of story seeds.
              Lake Ward, as above
              Middle Ward, as above
              Lower Ward, as above
              Outer Ward, as above
Lands Around Aldis, describing the lands for a day or two's ride around the city, including important locations and characters
People of Aldis, where we compile all the major NPC stat blocks, plus present some useful "stock" NPC stat blocks
Character Options, with some new Talents, Specialties, Arcana (and Arcana Knacks), as well as introducing the rhy-rat for play
Narrating, talking about how to run city-focused campaigns, and how they differ from more standard fantasy "trekking" stories
The Case of the Rhydan Swine, an adventure set in the city of Aldis
              • And a set of Appendices, including a "sights around Aldis" set that uses the Royal Road, a multiple page list of names, divided among Aldin/Kernish, Jarzoni, and Roamer names, plus a system for quickly generating NPCs using the Royal Road!

Excited! I'm going to have to figure out how to delay my group from going into Aldis.

I look forward to the character options, and page list of names especially.

                I hope for no delays.

Carriker, just out of curiosity, being one of the Heroes of Aldis backer: Does the book make references to our submitted characters who have their base in Aldis? (Not that I really expect it but it would be kinda neat...)

It does not, unfortunately. We crammed as much new content into this book as we could, adding to the material that is in the core rulebook rather than duplicating it. Still, I promise it'll be a great setting for those characters that we've already met, and provide a whole slew of new ones besides!

                        Hiyas!

I really do hope we get a description of Aldian pastimes, like sports and games. Wonder what do the Seafolk play...

Book and PDF are available for pre-order.

I've only skimmed the talents, specializations, and new arcanum, and knacks and I got to say.... thank you so much for adding Gift of the Hart style! I showed this to one of my players and she is so happy especially since we just reached Lv5 - the soonest she is able to take the talent.

You're definitely welcome! Here's hoping it adds plenty to your games.

Honestly, I am over the moon because I made up the "Prancing Hart" spirit dancing style specifically for one of my players (inspired by the Antlered Staff from the older books). Now I find this talent which fits her character perfectly - keying in on her character's strong stats, and play style. It was like the talent was made specifically for her.

As I am skimming more of the book, I am getting more excited - the Exchequer Stone is an interesting way to handle Rhydan and money, and Fourash Tallore and Sinrus would be very interesting to throw in my campaign. I like that a lot of the talents and specializations are mostly different than of FAGE Companion (one thing I was afraid of).

I was hoping for a Psychic specialization too, but I guess that means I'll leave my homebrewed one in the back burner - incase a player decides to go that route.

I was also hoping for more new arcana and at least some more knacks but I think the book provides just enough to create my own or at least gives me a template on how I can import FAGE spells.
