I mean he's an addict and alcoholic among other problems so maybe his displays of bluffing are more due to the mad, pathological deception skillz that addicts tend to develop.
I always figured it was a combination of his ability to simply get through everything, and that his addict/alcoholic nature is simply a nod to his Complications - another thing I forgot to note, given that the guy seems to be a near compulsive chain smoker and at many points an alcoholic, he should probably have an Addiction complication somewhere. You don't have to have a lower will save to have an addiction complication. But I'd personally have pegged him at a 12 or a 13 Will.

In my opinion the best way to simulate Constantine would be to give him the ability to repeat Svaing Throws a couple of times, rather than giving him high saves. If he can pull it out with a bit of luck, good for him, otherwise he should be in deep yogurt.
Aye, but he's typically able to keep his head in situations when most would normally be screamin' for their mums and while he has mad skillz when it comes to cheating anyone and everything, he's also shown the ability to act under pressure and maintain a strong resolve - only exceptions seem to be when he's hit by his Complications (Guilt, Addictions, Relationships, etc). But when he's under-fire, he tends to still win the day by being stubborn as frak in his beliefs that he can win the impossible day if he cheats.

    • Re: J-Mart: Doctor Strange, Doctor Fate, Constantine

Well, Kenma, Constantine also loses alot. It's important to his character that he fails. He has failed (and gotten killed) nearly every woman he's had a relationship with. Zatanna is the most famous exception to that, but people who read Constantine tend to be much like Wolverine's shippers in that they forget all the times he gets his ass handed to him.

John has a great track record for victories, but he also has a horrible string of defeats to go with. Now personally, I've never been that fond of the character, going back to his first appearances in Swamp Thing. He's a pretty good foil for more serious mystic types, like Phantom Stranger because he can ground an otherwise unreasonably outre' plotline or circumstance by playing the snarky everyman, but careless use of him can torpedo a plotline just as easily by devaluing a threat. Remember a good many of his early wins come from finding the person/people who can stand in opposition to a particular threat and pointing them in the right direction, not by defeating the threats himself.

      • Re: J-Mart: Doctor Strange, Doctor Fate, Constantine

OK, boys, I made some minor tweaks to Constantine. Upped his Will to +10 but that's as high as I'm going. As I have stated before, giving people crazy high Will saves almost completely eliminates mental afflictions/powers as it's hard to get a 3rd degree failure. If Professor X wants to read John's mind, he will, but John will have a better chance against control effects and such.

Ah, yes. After I get through with this big mystic/fantasy run I have coming, I will drop a few more TMNT builds including those two charter members of my JOB SQUAD line.

Responsibility: Champion of Shazam, defender of the magic world.
Secret Identity: Billy Batson. In his normal identity, Billy has STR 0, STA 1, FGT 2, and AWE 2 with corresponding adjustments to his skill ranks and defenses.

          Abilities 96 + Skills 13 (26 ranks) + Advantages 3 + Powers 138 + Defenses 7 = 257 / 257

Build Comments: The Big Red Cheese for my setting. I did make him a PL below my Superman, BUT he's just as strong and tough, just not as accurate as befits his inexperience in my timeline. If I ever get around to a Kingdom Come type future Thorpocaverse, they'll be the same.

Secret Origins: When young William Joseph (Billy) Batson's parents were killed by their treacherous assistant Theo Adam, he was separated from his sister Mary and sent to live with their Uncle Ebenezer Batson. Unfortunately, his uncle soon kicked Billy out and stole his inheritance. After bouncing from foster home to foster home, he was taken in by his father’s friend, “Uncle” Dudley. One day a strange cloaked man lead him to a part of the subway he'd never seen before. A marvelous train awaited them, covered in hieroglyphs and runes.

Billy and the stranger boarded and rode the train deep into the bowels of the Earth eventually stopping in a long cavern which housed statues of the Seven Deadly Enemies of Man. Billy wanders the halls in awe, looking at the magical sights and touching everything. As he flicked on illusions of the Seven deadly Enemies of Man, a voice calls him down a dark hallway to the throne-room of the ancient wizard Shazam who had protected mankind from the Seven Deadly Enemies for thousands of years.

The aging Wizard claims to be the last of his brethren, the others murdered by his prior champion Black Adam, and explains to Billy that he needs a new champion, one of pure good, to defend the realm of magic. Shazam had observed Billy as he dealt with and endured the trials and hardships of his young life. Shazam was impressed with Billy's irrepressible altruism and optimism. He determined Billy was the worthy and proper recipient of the power of the Elders, and it was thus that Billy was chosen to become Shazam's latest champion and granted the powers the Elders; Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles and Mercury. The Wizard demanded Billy speak the word "SHAZAM!", but must do so with purpose and belief, with good intentions, and he shall transform into his greatest potential. Billy uttered the word and is magically transformed into the magical muscle-bound champion of the lightning, Captain Marvel, and as he does so the Wizard dissolved, telling him he is all that remains between the world and magical threats.

The Story so Far: After battling the Wizard Shazam’s former champion, Black Adam, and having several other adventures, Billy eventually became a member of the revived Justice Society of America and was featured prominently in that group alongside his nemesis Black Adam. Captain Marvel had originally joined the team to keep an eye on Adam, who had joined the JSA claiming to have reformed. Black Adam eventually left the JSA to instigate a takeover of his home country of Kahndaq, and wished to see the totalitarian regime done away with, in what he saw as justice. Shazam remained with the team.

Currently, he is trying to spend more time as Billy Batson, internet blogging legend and floundering middle school student, living with his Uncle Dudley and saving the world when he has to. He is a reserve member of the Justice League and assists the Justice Society Initiative whenever he has time, which isn’t often.

Characterization: Billy Batson is a bright young man with a warm and light-hearted personality. He is kind, optimistic, courageous and altruistic. Although he will usually try to avoid physical confrontation, he will always stand up for what is right no matter the personal risks or cost. Billy idolizes Superman and, despite their clashes, has tried to follow the Man of Steel's heroic example. Billy is quite protective of his twin sister Mary, both before and after he shared his power of the elders with her and became Mary Marvel. Billy's altruistic and protective side was also evident when he defended Freddy Freeman against Captain Nazi and giving the injured/crippled Freddy a share of the elders' power, transforming him into Captain Marvel Jr. In this new super-powered identity, Freddy used his powers to fight crime, injustice and evil as a member of the Shazam Family.

Throughout the super-human community Billy is generally perceived as Boy Scout, even more so than his idol Superman. Captain Marvel's pure heart, good nature and irrepressible good nature have made him extremely hard to dislike, thus, appropriately, he gets along with the vast majority of people he meets.

Friends and Foes: Captain Marvel often fights evil as a member of a superhero team known as the Marvel Family, made up of himself his sister Mary and his best friend Freddy. He is also close to his mentor, "Uncle" Dudley, Dudley's niece Freckles Marvel, and the mutate talking tiger, Tawky Tawny.

Through his adventures, Captain Marvel gained an extensive rogues gallery, the most notable of whom include the evil mad scientist Doctor Sivana (and, pre-Crisis, the Sivana Family); Shazam's corrupted previous champion Black Adam, who has powers from Egyptian Gods; Adolf Hitler's champion Captain Nazi; and the mind-controlling worm, Mister Mind, and his Monster Society of Evil. Other Marvel Family foes include the evil robot Mister Atom; the "World's Mightiest Immortal" Oggar, a god with magic powers and former pupil of Shazam with cloven hooves and member of the Pantheon, who was banished for an attempted rebellion; and Ibac and Sabbac, demon-powered supervillains who transform by saying magic words made up of beings who give them power similar to how Captain Marvel and Black Adam do.

            Abilities 110 + Skills 16 (32 ranks) + Advantages 7 + Powers 136 + Defenses 19 = 288 / 288

Build Comments: Loves me some Black Adam.

Secret Origins: Adam was born to the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses II in the neighboring land of Kahndaq. While there are contradictory accounts of the circumstances of Black Adam’s early history, certain elements are consistent:

While serving as high priest to Ramses II, the wizard Shazam sought a successor to his godly powers. Impressed with his virtue and martial heroism, he chose Adam. Having determined to make Adam his successor, Shazam’s intentions were altered by the intervention of his half-demonic daughter Blaze. Blaze struck a bargain with the god Set so that when Adam speaks the word “Shazam,” instead of becoming the avatar of the wizard’s deific patrons, he becomes the avatar of the Egyptian gods Shu, Heru, Amon, Zehuti, Aton and Mehen.

The Story so Far: "Teth-Adam" (Mighty Adam) then served the Egyptian pharaoh as his champion for hundreds of years thereafter. However, Teth-Adam eventually fell from the good graces of Shazam. This happened either because Adam became dictatorial towards Kahndaq, he became corrupted and homicidal by his powers, or the wizard believed he was plotting conquest with Blaze. Henceforth, the wizard referred to him as "Khem" (or "Black") Adam. In any event, Shazam, unable to take his powers away, banishes him to the most distant star in the universe. Made cautious by this failure, Shazam does not empower another champion until modern times when Billy Batson was made into Shazam.

Black Adam spent the next 5,000 years flying back to Earth. By the time he made it back, Shazam had appointed a new champion to take his place: Billy Batson, who had taken the wizard’s mantle of Shazam. The two fought immediately with Shazam gaining the upper hand in their initial battle. The two have many battles over the years, at times being bitter enemies but at times working together when the need arose.

Adam has battled many heroes over the years, from the Avengers, the Justice League, Superman and Stormwatch. He has also reformed at times, being a member of Stormwatch and the Justice Society.

Adam is currently ruling Khandaq along with his wife resurrected wife, Isis. He is being "good" by Black Adam terms, refusing offers from Doom to assist him with a plan he’s working on. He continues to spurn Doom’s overtures, but you never know what could set him off and change that. Amanda Waller knows that, too, and she also knows that peace is not always a good thing people in her line of work...

Characterization: Adam has an old-fashioned and militant ideals of justice, and an officious and strongly opinionated attitude. His stubbornness is legendary and once he has decided on a course of action, there is no changing it.

Friends and Foes: While he and Shazam and his family have had numerous conflicts, they have at times worked together due to their shared magical connection to the wizard Shazam. Adam is closest to his wife, Isis, and her brother, Osiris.

We've got another J-Mart Favorite item hitting the Aisle 1 shelves as our additions to the Mystic Thorpocaverse continue!

I should've gone to Mexico with the boys on the demon-hunting job. I wouldn't be much help, but it beats doing nothing. Boredom and inactivity is what led to my fifty-year drunk in the first place. - Detective Chimp

              DETECTIVE CHIMP
              PL: 9 (144 pts) - OPL: 9 ; DPL: 8

Toughness +6 (+3 without Defensive Roll), Fortitude +6, Will +9

Addiction: Bobo drinks and smokes a lot and when denied of either (heaven forbid, BOTH) for too long, he can get reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally cranky…
Motivation: He loves a good mystery and also has a sense of responsibility towards protecting the world and his friends.
Sink Like a Stone: Detective Chimp, like all chimps, cannot swim.

              Abilities 64 + Skills 29 (58 ranks) + Advantages 11 + Powers 28 + Defenses 12 = 144 / 144

Build Comments: Loves me some Detective Chimp. Just because he’s awesome and it’s my world, I made him the equal of Batman for Investigation, making a strong case for him to be the World’s Greatest Detective, as one Mr. John Constantine believes he is.

Only tricky thing about DC was his strength. A normal chimp is crazy strong, but he sits around drinking and smoking, which has to limit that a bit. I went 3, but you could make a case that he could be a 4, like Jab’s or even a 2 since he rarely gets into fisticuffs that I’ve seen.

Secret Origins: Bobo was captured in Equatorial Africa in 1953 by Fred Thorpe, who sought to train him for his carnival act: "Bobo the Detective Chimp". For the act, the Detective Chimp was trained to answer some detective-related questions using a combination of signals and rewards, giving the illusion that he could "discover the deepest secrets of the public". Bobo formed a strong bond with Thorpe, because he took care of him, and gave him a simpler life than in the jungle. He then acted as a "helping mascot" for the local sheriff, after helping him to solve the murder of his chimpanzee trainer, Fred Thorpe. He could not speak, but being very intelligent he could understand humans, and make himself understood.

The Story so Far: During a trip in Florida, Rex, the Wonder Dog took him to the Fountain of Youth, where he gained the ability to speak to all living creatures, even humans, in their own language along with eternal youth and all together Bobo intelligence was raised to genius human intellect (This fountain would later be boiled away by the Spectre). He appeared briefly with Sam Simeon in Gorilla City during Crisis on Infinite Earths.

At some point after this, Bobo was employed by the Bureau of Amplified Animals Detective Chimp exhibits not only Brilliant detective skills and the genius of a true tactician. It is not known how he left, or if the Bureau still exists.

He began to work for himself by opening Chimpanzee Investigations. Initially he did quite well, as a chimp detective was seen as a novelty. During this successful period he was visited by another detective, John Jones (actually the Martian Manhunter), who thought Bobo's agency seemed to be doing better than his own. he had also a long-standing partnership with four other detectives, among them Ralph Dibny, as the Croatoan Society. But being an ape, without civil rights and being unable to stand as a juridical person, he couldn't enforce unpaid bills. When the public began to forget him, he became an alcoholic. He also has a smoking habit.

During the gap in time between the down fall of his business and The Day Of Vengeance event, he spent his time heavily drinking in the other dimensional tavern for magic users in the DC Universe the Oblivion Bar.

When the Spectre tried to destroy all magic and began killing wizards during the events of "Day of Vengeance," Detective Chimp, while still mostly drunk, coerced a group of mystical characters in the Oblivion Bar, into battling the Spectre. This would be the beginning of the group Shadowpact.

After saving the magical the world from those forces, Bobo has remained with Shadowpact, and has fought alongside them during several adventures. In addition, he has restarted his agency after Jennifer Walters (She-Hulk), helped him gain full US Citizen status by proving that with chimp DNA being 96% the same as humans, he more than qualified, as several alien beings and constructs (Superman, Martian Manhunter, The Vision and Red Tornado, for example) with no human DNA are now US Citizens.

Characterization: Detective Chimp possesses no unusual physical abilities, save the level of agility and physical strength that comes with being a chimpanzee with human knowledge of movement and tools. He is capable of conversing with all animals, regardless of origin, in their own language, including all spoken and written human languages. He is also one of the most highly skilled investigators in the world, with detective skills rivaling those of Ralph Dibny or Batman. Bobo has an Intelligence Quotient estimated to be higher than 98 percent of the adult (human) population, as evidenced by his Mensa membership.

Because a chimpanzee's muscles are much denser than a human's, Detective Chimp is unable to swim.

Friends and Foes: Detective Chimp has various contacts in both the mystical and streetwise community and is particularly close to the members of Shadowpact and his fellow detectives, Ralph Dibny, Batman and Question.

Build Comments: I was really hoping for a 3rd Hellboy movie, but I’m losing hope that it’s going to happen, no matter how many times I hear rumors otherwise. I dig the Hellboy comics, but much like Iron Man, I like movie Hellboy better. Of course, I dig anything Ron Perlman does because, well, he’s Ron @#$# Perlman.

Hellboy is always hard for me to determine PL. He could probably go anywhere between 8 and 11 and be “right” but I’m sticking with the standard PL10.

Secret Origins: Hellboy is a creature, summoned in the final months of World War II by Grigori Rasputin on Tarmagant Island, off the coast of Scotland, having been commissioned by the Nazis to change the tide of war ("Project Ragna Rok"). As a direct result of this ritual, he appeared on Earth in a fireball in a ruined church in East Bromwich, England, on December 23, 1944. Proving not to be a devil, in the traditional sense, but a devil-like creature with red skin, horns, a tail, and a disproportionately large right hand made of red stone, he is dubbed "Hellboy" by Professor Trevor "Broom" Bruttenholm.

The Story so Far: Taken by the United States armed forces to an Air Force base in New Mexico, Hellboy is raised by the United States Army and by the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (BPRD), a private organization dedicated to combating occult threats. However, it is not until he eats his first human meal (a meal of pancakes) that he is forever bound to the mortal world.

As an adult, Hellboy becomes the primary agent for the BPRD, alongside other human and quasi-human agents. During a visit to Bromwich Church (the place of his "birth"), Hellboy learns he had been conceived 300 years ago by a witch, Sarah Hughes, and a demon Prince of Sheol. At this time, Hellboy had not existed as a baby in the "real" world; the prince's "favorite son" was considered to be "a power waiting to be born." Hellboy's "mother" also had children: a nun and a priest who would later haunt the church, dying in an attempt to stop the demon from claiming Hughes in her coffin. This origin indicates that Hellboy is, in fact, half-human.

A later, but possibly unreliable account gives the name of the demon as Azzael, and of the witch as Sarah Hughes. The spirit of Morgana le Fay claims that Hughes was her descendant; if this is true, it means that Hellboy is the last living heir to Arthur Pendragon and the rightful king of England. Hellboy has since drawn the sword Excalibur, claiming his position, albeit without much conviction.

Hellboy was granted "honorary human" status by the United Nations in 1952, and is known as the "world's greatest paranormal investigator". As such, he interacts regularly with humans, primarily law enforcement officials, the military, and various "scholars of the weird”.

Characterization: Hellboy ages very differently from humans. His rapid physical maturation is in contrast to his actual rate of aging however, which seems to be much slower than humans. Throughout the sixty-year span of the comics he does not age beyond the plateau of physical maturity. This mystical aging process is similar to the other demons and supernatural beings and seem to range from decades to many thousands of years.

Hellboy freely admits to being a lousy shot and often fights hand-to-hand, preferring to use short-ranged physical weapons like swords, spears, and his massive stone fist over firearms. Hellboy's lack of formal combat training and education is compensated for by his decades of experience as a paranormal investigator, though encounters with unfamiliar threats have often forced him to resort to improvisation and using his wits.

Hellboy possesses the Right Hand of Doom, formerly the right hand of Anum, one of the "greater spirits" that watched over the burgeoning Earth, and the hand the spirit used to create the dragon Ogdru Jahad. With that same hand, he bound the dragon, but then his fellow spirits turned upon him for his deeds, and destroyed him utterly – save for his right hand, which was kept and preserved by many races throughout history, including the first race of man. As the hand which created and bound the Ogdru Jahad, it is also the key which will "loose and command" them; in other words, it is a catalyst that will bring about Ragnarok. It has not been mentioned how the Right Hand of Doom would actually perform these tasks; it is only ever announced that this is the case and that someone or something intends to do it with or without Hellboy's consent. It is made clear that it is not necessary for the arm to be attached to Hellboy to perform its duties. It has been suggested that if Hellboy dies while the Hand is attached to him, it would become useless. He has therefore concluded that the only way to prevent its falling into the wrong hands is to keep and protect it.

Much like other superheroes such as Batman, Wolverine, Daredevil, and Spawn, Hellboy is constantly tormented by the knowledge of his past. He says of his past, "I like not knowing. I've gotten by for fifty-two years without knowing. I sleep good not knowing."

Friends and Foes: He has many allies within the BPRD and from his years of paranormal investigation that include Kate Corrigan, a professor of folklore at New York University; Abe Sapien, an amphibian humanoid; Liz Sherman, a young female pyrokinetic; Roger, an unusually large homunculus; Johann Kraus, the spirit of a German medium kept in a containment suit; and Captain Ben Daimio, a special operations soldier that became an Olmec were-jaguar among many others.

Build Comments: Good old Abe. The heart of the Big 3 of the BPRD. He's also a kick ass fighter and marksman when he has to be. I kind of did an amalgam of his comic incarnation and movies since I like both.

And sorry, I had to use the Manilow quote. He and Hellboy singing Barry Manilow while drunk in Hellboy II was hysterical.

Secret Origins/The Story so Far: Abe's real name was Everett Langdon Caul. He was a scientist and occult investigator, and member of a secret society known as the Oannes Society. Langdon found an creature that looked simillar to a jellyfish and he and other members of the Oannes Society performed a ritual on it which ended with Langdon becoming a different species labeled Icthyo Sapien. The society imprisoned Langdon in a large tube of water in Washington DC. However, the Civil War forced the society to leave the building he was imprisoned in. He wasn't found until much later by a group of workmen.

With no memory of who he was, Langdon took a new identity as Abe Sapien, from the last name of his species, and a piece of paper he recieved with the date of Abe Lincoln's assassination. Abe was taken to the B.P.R.D. where he was studied and almost dissected until he was saved by an empathetic Hellboy. After he was saved by Hellboy, Abe became a valuable field agent of the B.P.R.D. has been with them ever since, being involved and several paranormal adventures.

Characterization: Abe can breathe both air and water, but can only stay out of water for about a week; when travelling, he sleeps in hotel bathtubs to keep his skin from drying out. He is sensitive to the condition of water he swims in. When swimming in Venice, the water was so polluted that he had to stay in his tank for a long time afterwards to recover.

He is a talented marksman, as well as one of the most skilled agents in the B.P.R.D. (beside Hellboy and Liz), with decades of experience.

Friends and Foes: Abe is close to his teammates Liz Sherman and Hellboy and his mentor, Professor Bruttenholm. He is romantically involved with Princess Nuala.

                      Responsibility: To the BPRD.

                      Abilities 42 + Skills 15 (30 ranks) + Advantages 14 + Powers 44 + Defenses 14 = 129 / 129

Build Comments: Since I finally got around to Abe, I had to get Liz done to round out the Big 3 of the Thorpacoverse BPRD. I made Liz pretty capable because both in the movies and comics, she was starting to show far more control over her powers and is definitely the biggest hitter of the three, even though Red is the better fighter overall. In my setting, Hellboy is still with the BPRD and he Liz and Abe are still their main investigators.

[b]Secret Origins/The Story so Far:[b/] Liz Sherman was born in Kansas City, Kansas and was your typical average girl until her pyrokinetic abilities began to make themselves evident on her 11th birthday.

Raised in a strict Catholic family, Liz felt that the fires were a result of her sins, and for a short time managed to keep the fires under control by a combination of prayer and sheer force of will. However, at age eleven, she once again lost control. The resulting eruption destroyed an entire city block and, among the thirty-two fatalities, took the lives of her parents, brother, and pet dog.

This incident left Liz traumatized. After being juggled between extended family members following the death of her parents, Liz was taken in by the B.P.R.D. where she learned to control her pyrokinesis to some slight degree. She later became a full agent. She is often teamed with Hellboy and Abe Sapien. However, her childhood trauma continued replaying in her mind and left her bitter. She often leaves the B.P.R.D. to clear her head only to return soon afterwards.

Characterization: Liz is a very competent field agent but oftentimes her concern about controlling her powers and her childhood trauma can effect her performance and her ability to relate to others.

Friends and Foes: She is close to her frequent partners, Abe Sapien and Hellboy and Professor Bruttenholm, who is like a father to her.

Build Comments: OK, so in my Hellboy build, I mused about why I love Hellboy II. Well, a major reason is Luke Goss' portayal of Prince Nuada. I love villains like him, who really believe they are doing the right thing, even though they are committing less than acts to do so. And trying to bring back the Golden Army definitely qualifies as a less than good move in my book. Mainly their design, but that's another story...

Secret Origins: According to the beliefs of the magical realm, humans and the races of elves, goblins, ogres, fairies, trolls, and other creatures once lived in harmony. The greed of humanity, however, caused a great desire for conquest in them and they warred against the mystical woodland creatures. King Balor, who ruled the elves and the magical races (Prince Nuada's father), watched his people undergo slaughter at the hands of the humans. Nuada participated in the battles and bears many scars on his back and shoulders from battling for the protection of his kind.

One day, a master goblin blacksmith came to King Balor to offer the construction of a mechanical army -- the Golden Army. Nuada persuaded his father to accept the offer. The Golden Army then butchered the humans, not dividing innocent from warrior or male from female or adult from child. The destruction, Balor realized, surpassed what the humans had done to them. Horrified by this massacre, the King sealed the Golden Army away and declared a truce with humanity by dividing the magic crown controlling them into three pieces; keeping two for the elves and giving one to humanity.

Nuada was enraged by this act, believing not only that the humans could not be trusted, but that he could have commanded the army more efficiently. He went into self-imposed exile, swearing to return the day when his people would most need him. Alongside him was his companion, a one-eyed one tusked cave troll named Mr. Wink, as he prepared for the day when he would rise up once more.

The Story so Far: Nuada trod the earth pondering his own life and watching the lives of man and magical creature. The prince saw mankind slaughter one another in the name of greed and watched all the other magical races receded into obscurity or into the Nevernever. Resolved that he must end the silent destruction of the magical world and sensing that the planet was reaching a crossroads leading to destruction. He decided to reclaim the Golden Army and do what should have been done centuries before.

The prince tracked the crown until, centuries later, he followed it into an auction house to steal it. He then proceeded to kill the entire attendance of the auction by releasing a swarm of Tooth Fairies and leaving behind two markings that would symbolize to humanity that he had declared war. He went to his father's palace and revealed his intention to re-awaken the Golden Army and wage war on the human world. He pointed out the humans' commercialization, conquest, and 'rape' of the world. He knew that the magical races will fade and points out that they are already living in squalor and have nowhere else to go. Then the king, willing to resign themselves to such a fate years before relocating to the Americas, decided to have his son executed. Nuada, heartbroken (knowing that his father is also killing his innocent twin sister, Nuala) then killed all the guards in the room, before unintentionally taking his father's life. He wept momentarily and claimed his father's piece of the crown, then turned around, but his sister was gone along with the last crown piece.

While preparing an odd seed of life in a mechanical holder, Nuada heard from a two-headed creature that his servant Mr. Wink was defeated by Hellboy. Furious, Nuada came up to the surface to kill Hellboy and unleash the seed into a forest god that would purge the area of humans and their buildings. When Hellboy aims to destroy the 'forest god' or 'forest elemental', Nuada taunted him to either spare or kill the towering tree, for it was the last of its kind. He said Hellboy had more in common with the magical beings than the humans. The forest spirit was killed and Nuada disappeared as his sister, still bearing her own crown piece and determined to keep her brother from succeeding, followed along with Hellboy and the BPRD agents around him, specifically Abraham Sapien.

Nuada tracked his sister to BPRD headquarters. She attempted to burn the map leading to Bethmoora that would give him the secret location of the Golden Army. However, Nuada revealed that the real map was on the canister she obtained, not the paper map as she had presumed. Hellboy tried to fight the bellicose prince, but is thoroughly thrashed and mortally wounded by the cunning Nuada. He wounded the demon with a shard of his magical silver spear. He took his sister, demanding to Abe Sapien, with whom Nuala had become very fond of, to give him the last piece of the crown since it remained hidden in the BPRD library.

He vanished with Nuala and traveled to the resting place of the Golden Army. Fearing for Nuala's life, Abe and the others followed to Ireland where Hellboy was healed. To the dismay of the others, Abe had brought the last piece of the crown and gave it willingly to Nuada. Hellboy, a prince of sorts himself, challenged Nuada's right to the crown in a duel.

After a fierce fight, Hellboy claimed victory without claiming Nuada's life, having Liz destroy the crown and imprisoning Nuada. However, Nuada escaped a few months ago and has gone underground again.

Characterization: Nuada differed greatly from the majority of his own kind in his appreciation for the other magical races. He seemed to enjoy time among trolls, goblins, ogres, and other breeds of fairy. He also bears a distinct fascination with goblin-mechanics. It is believed that he created the mechanical hand for his man at arms, Wink.

Nuada was trained as a warrior and dignitary from birth, as was customary for royalty of the old world. He lived in the palace and served in the war against humanity both in the battles and in the strategizing. Nuada seems unused to the idea of forest-life which is the antithesis of what he pursues.

Nuada bears the trademark 'royal scar' that all of the ruling class of elves show but also bears distinguishing differences between himself and the rest of his kind. Nuada is heir to the throne, but does not raise any other claims to power past wanting to purge the earth and reclaim his people's peace and birthright.

Friends and Foes: Nuala is his only sibling (a twin and polar opposite) and seems to at one time have been his closest friend. The two share a preternatural link that binds them spirit, mind, and body. The link can either help to 'bear one another's burdens' or to help the one locate the other and know that they are in danger, safe, or acting out of sorts. The link seems to be strongest when they are in close proximity to one another.

After their battles, he has a fierce rivalry with Hellboy but seems to approve of his sister’s relationship with Abe, even though they are on different sides of what’s best for the supernatural world.

Build Comments: The calming Yin to Nuada’s raging Yang, and Abe's girly girl thang, Princess Nuala. And continuing in my Hellboy II love fest, is there a funnier thing than Abe and Red drunk and singing Barry Manilow's "I Can't Smile Without You?"

But of course, I can't blame Abe for falling for her. I do think she's creepy hot, even with those big yellow contact lenses...

Secret Origins/The Story so Far: See Prince Nuada’s post for details.

Characterization: Princess Nuala is the twin sister of antagonist, Prince Nuada. She seems light and fragil where the prince is sinister and unyielding. She was present at the creation of the Golden Army, but did not appear to agree with the decision, nor did she appear to oppose it. Nuala seems more silent and inactive compared to her father and brother which may stem from being raised in a society not offering females the same voice as males. Her brother has a great deal of respect for her and seems to value her opinions and feelings as much as his own while not changing them.

It is unclear whether or not Nuala is older or younger than Nuada (by a few moments at best) and she does not seem to have any significant claim to the throne. She appears to be a pacifist and, at the bequest of her father, would rather fade away into obscurity and nothingness rather than stand and fight against the evils of man. Her view toward her brother's insistence on this is one of pity and shame, but she seems to have a great deal of respect for his courage.

Nuala differs from her brother in practicing what could be described using the Hindu principle of 'Ahimsa' or 'no hurt'. This is a path to enlightenment and longevity while embracing peace, tranquility, and harming nothing (or in some instances of Ahimsa, doing as little harm as possible). Nuala not only seems to embrace the survival of humanity, but she is also driven to protect the BPRD agents as well, leading to the idea that she is not necessarily a complete pacifist.

Nuala bears the royal scar seen extending from the topmost ridge of one cheek to the other and crossing the bridge of the nose. It is a straight line with several perpendicular lines etched along it as well. Some speculation exists that the scar is given to royal men as a rite of passage and that Nuala bears it because of the link to her brother. It would therefore serve as a testimony to not only the connectivity of the pair, but also in showing Nuala's strength and potential to do as great a good for her people as either her father or brother. Other evidence suggests that the scar is innate and that all those of royal blood bear the mark from birth up. Either way, it remains clear that Nuala is, by birth and endurance, as strong as her twin.

Friends and Foes: Both Princess Nuala and Agent Abraham Sapien share a telepathic ability that incorporates mind-reading, empathy, and clairsentience, a common trait that brought the two together quickly. While Princess Nuala and Abraham seem drawn to each other, their link almost bears two ends of an extremely long relationship. They have the mannerisms of two shy school-children 'twitterpated' one with the other while they also share a higher understanding and satisfaction in simply being near one another.

Because of her empathic link with her brother, Nuala is very close to her brother, with some suggesting an undertone of incest on the prince's part. However, this may be misinterpreted due a misunderstanding of their mental link and Nuada’s intensity in all things.

                          • Re: J-Mart: Shazam, Black Adam, Detective Chimp, Hellboy, Abe, Liz, Nuada, Nuala

Next up, I'm going to repost more stuff from my fantasy setting, the world of Gloriant. I have posted a number of fantasy builds already, but since I've been playing a lot of D&D 5E (I'm actually getting to go run a session at our local con in an hour or so), I've been itching to build more things in that realm as of late. I have about 50 reposts from the old ATT that I've updated, but I'm planning on adding several others, since I never got to Golems, the Beholder, several races and I'd like to add more PCs and NPCs and more archetypes, like the fantasy realm thugs, brigands, etc. I will take a minor diversion for Build 500 then I'm hoping this run will push me close to 600 before I get back into superhero stuff.

                            So without further ado...

                            • The History of Gloriant

                              GLORIANT HISTORY OVERVIEW

As recorded by Elder Emberwell the Alduvian, 9th Lorekeeper of Szaride

Hear now, mortals, this story of time before time, of darkness before light and of torment before salvation. Heed this tale of gods and men, war and peace, love and sacrifice. This lore has been handed down from generation to generation of Alduvians and must now be shared with all creatures of the Gilthorian lands in order to preserve that which is known. I have taken it upon myself to tell this tale to all who will listen.

                              THE CREATION

While there are many theories on the creation of this planet of Jaerth, each depending on what religion one follows, or which wizard, Lorekeeper or elder of a race that you choose to believe. What we Alduvians know is this:

In the beginning, there was the void. And into that void, The Creator was born. It was He who set the stars in motion and who crafted the furnace of our Sun so that the void would not be filled with darkness. He created an infinite number of stars, worlds and dimensions layered upon dimensions with their variety as unlimited as His limitless power. And He loved all His creations equally and boundlessly.

It was during this period of creation that our world was born. The Creator formed the great oceans, our two moons, the majestic mountains, the myriad of plants and trees and the great lands, with the most glorious being our land of Gloriant.

But the world was without any creature or life of any kind. It was with His infinite wisdom that The Creator realized that the life on our world, and all worlds and dimensions, should be as varied and wondrous as the worlds He created. He also believed that all creatures of the world should be given a free will, so that they could each define their own reality and experience His glorious creations in their own individual way.

He also knew that they would need guidance and that His joy in creation was a joy that he wished to share. So He decided not to breathe life into the world Himself. For that, he created his five children, four sons, and a daughter. They would be the first gods, and they would be charged with creating and guiding the creatures and races of the world.

The first son was Anvaelar, who was carefree and proud. He loved song and the glory of gold, and to him his father gave a scepter made of engraved gold and decorated with wondrous gems.

The second son was Azzagrath, who was wise and humble. He loved strength of stone and strength of spirit and to him his father gave a scepter made of marble and Askharil, the “steel of souls”.

The third son was Aer, who was strong and bold, but quick to temper. He enjoyed the flame of emotion and the heat of battle and to him his father gave a scepter made of brass and living flame.

The fourth son was Azkarael, who was the smartest of the children, but was also boastful, prideful and covetous. His father gave him a scepter made of sterling silver and decorated with black diamonds.

The only daughter of The Creator was Anilaya, who was beautiful, clever and curious. She loved sorcery and sunshine, and to her the Creator gave the most special scepter; one made from pure light and magic.

Before the Five Children of The Creator created life in the world, they each had a number of children, and those children: Elhonna, Chronus, Bor, Pelor, Anubis, Gruumsh, and others; and their children and children’s children, became the pantheon of deities that we know today; Each of them carried traits and powers of their parents, but each of them was unique and each had their own philosophy on how life should be created and guided. There was much arguing and many fights between the deities over how the creatures of the world could be created and how they should be governed. In order to be fair, The Five Children of The Creator charged them each with creating a number of creatures as they saw fit, but none in the image of The Five Children and The Creator, as they were not deemed worthy to perform such a feat.

So the deities created all manner of animal, from the smallest bug to the mighty Tarrasque, with all varities in between. And The Five Children were most pleased, as was The Creator, who loved all the creations equally and boundlessly.

Then it was time for The Five Children to create life in their image. And so the races of our world were born.

First, Anvaelar made the elves that were as proud and carefree as he. He granted them long life, love of song and freedom and transcendent grace.
Second, Azzagrath made the mountain folk, who loved the earth and its rich treasures. Short and strong, they too were gifted with long life, but their love was for stone, steel, gems and hard work.
Third, Aer made the humans, who were strong and warlike. He did not grant them long life, as he wanted them to live fully in a shorter time. They were granted with a great sense of adaptability to their world, and were made to be prosperous and fertile.
Lastly, Anilaya made the gnomes and the little folk, who shared her love for magic, beauty and the wilderness. They were gifted with long life, and to have a greater kinship with nature and animals.

Azkarael, however, was not allowed to create the race he desired. Azkarael loved to create division and discontent between his brothers and sister. And he was particularly jealous of Anilaya, who he felt The Creator favored over the brothers. After an especially cruel and divisive act, the details of which have been lost to time, The Creator stripped Azkarael of his scepter and forbade Azkarael to use his powers until he had redeemed himself.

This drove Azkarael mad. He stole Anilaya away and tried to use the power of her scepter to make a race of terrible fiends to walk the world. When Anilaya tried to stop him, he flew into a fit of rage and slew her. However, the power of the scepter would not bend to his evil will, and when he tried to complete his task, the scepter destroyed itself and the resulting explosion shook The Heavens.

The explosion also destroyed Azkarael, but it shattered his essence into several separate entities that were thrust into the world and across all dimensions. The entities became the seeds of several different vile races, ranging from the vile goblins and orcs, to the bloodthirsty hyena-people of the deep deserts. Other creatures, such a demons, devils and fiends also sprang from the larger, more powerful remains of Azkarael and were spread out across all the planes of existence.
When The Creator realized what had occurred, he was devastated by the loss of his daughter and the betrayal by his son. Fearing for all the creations of his children, The Creator himself created the Alduvian race, which are now known as dragons by the other races of this world. To my race he gave long life, great knowledge, and great power, but also the burden of a great responsibility. It was the first of our race that built the unreachable mountain city of Szaride as home and sanctuary and began our long vigil.
The Creator then took away the power of creation from His children and the other deities and gave it to the creatures of Gloriant. In memory of his daughter, he blessed the female of all species with ability to bear children, and greater inner strength than a man could imagine.
After he had done this, The Creator rested, and sleep he did for a long time.

                              THE TIME OF TORMENT

After the creation, thousands of years passed. Humans, under the banner of Aer and the pantheon of deities that shared his vision, conquered much of the world. Great empires rose and fell. Across the world, humans and elves dabbled in sorcery and the magical power of creation. They brought about the creation of many more species of animal and humanoid creatures. Giants appeared across the land, with strength that could move mountains and varying from brutish louts to noble intellectuals who lived in castles in the sky.
The mountain folk dug hundreds of strongholds under the ground and fought bloody wars with the blind beast-men of the deeps, the giants and the elves, whose arrogance was growing beyond comprehension.

It is believed that during this time, one of the spawn of Azkarael, a demon whose name remains unknown (but is believed to be Demogorgon himself) gained audience with the high human god Aer and began planting seeds of deceit.

Whether that was actually the reason or not, Aer slowly became dissatisfied with his creation. After its initial conquests and wars, humanity had settled down and split into thousands of small cultures. This did not please him, for Aer wanted a unified humanity, strong and warring, unified under his banner. What he saw was an imperfect creation that had to be tempered like an imperfect blade; in fire…
And so, in what was later called the Year of the Weeping Gods, Aer opened the gates of Hell and set loose the demons therein. The sky became black and rained down tainted water. Great storms ravaged both land and sea. And hordes of fiends, led by three infernal generals, pored out upon the helpless world.

The elves escaped across the seas in their great, enchanted ships, riding on winds of magic. The mountain folk and the little folk burrowed deeper in hopes of avoiding the onslaught. The giants were split into different factions, each of which pursued its own means to survive. But there would be no sanctuary for the human race and they bore the full brunt of Aer’s fury.

When the nature of the impending disaster became apparent, the Alduvians of Szaride did not sit idle. We sent our king, Terzhaen, to look for the sleeping Creator from the furthest reaches of the universe, a journey that would take him over three hundred years. The rest of my kin traveled far and wide, to live up to our responsibility as protectors of Gloriant, desperate to save what little we could. I am ashamed to say it, but many of my kind were captured and corrupted by the demons. The bloated and greedy descendants of those once mighty Alduvians are what cause so many today to curse the name dragon. But I digress…

My kind and the human race fought bravely against the infernal horde, but in vain. The fiends raised the dead to fight on as undead abominations, and destroyed human strongholds with spells of destruction. After 50 years of what became futile battle, the war was over, and the torment truly began.

The fiends enslaved entire human empires, for use as servants, to fulfill their depraved pleasures and even food. And through all this, Aer watched and did nothing, hoping that the adversity would drive men to evolve into something greater. Anvaelar also did nothing. His people, who called him Velar, were safe and that was all that mattered to him. Azzagrath attempted to reason with Aer, but to no avail, and not wanting to risk Aer’s wrath, he too, did nothing. And Aer forbade any of the other deities to intervene; less they tempt battle with him. So the human race continued to suffer.

For over three hundred years, nothing changed. Then, precisely three hundred and thirty-three years after the Torment began, the Alduvian king Terzhaen returned from his great journey. Those of my kin who were there that day recall seeing the king stagger in, bone weary but triumphant as he descended to the great square of Szaride. He looked across the crowd and declared, “HE is coming!” and then fell to the ground, dead.
For two days, all was silent. Then on the third day, He did indeed come.

In human annuals, it would be known as The Night of Falling Stars, as it appeared that the stars themselves fell down upon the earth. It was a cloudless night, and one by one, pillars of searing white light came down from the heavens. There was a host of the Nine Celestials Legions, and at their lead, terrible beyond comprehension, was The Creator.

The battle lasted for two days and nights, although there clearly was no question as to what would be the end result. The Creator could have ended the battle in the blink of an eye, but He let the battle continue because He saw that finally, the human race, inspired by The Creator, began to fight back.

And then it was over. The forces of light had triumphed; driving the demons and fiends back into the darkness. Soon, humankind, though battered, recovered to continue their spread across the land. The giants, mountain folk, dwarves, elves and little folks returned to their native lands and all the races worked to rebuild what they had lost in the time of The Torment. Then the time came for a reckoning in the heavens.
For his shortsightedness and cruelty to his own creation, Aer was stripped of his scepter, which The Creator broke into pieces and cast out across the ends of the universe. Without his scepter and wracked with shame and anger, Aer exiled himself from the heavens to a place unknown.

However, it is said that he remains powerful even without his scepter and that he will one day return to wreak a terrible vengeance on his Father.
The Creator again left the governing of the world to the pantheon of deities, and forbade them all from such similar acts, less they incur a wrath a thousand times greater than what was visited upon the demons in The Night of Falling Stars. And to this day, none in the pantheon has dared challenge The Creator’s decree.

                              THE FIRST GREAT WAR

After the Time of Torment, there was a general sense of peace throughout the land for nearly two hundred and fifty years. This would eventually be known as the First Age of Gloriant. It was during this time that the initial borders of the Gloriant Domains as we know them now were set, although those borders have changed over time. However, there was a great orc king named Grudarc, who believed that the will of the orc god Gruumsh was for the orcs to have lordship over all the lands of Gloriant. As such, he made it his personal crusade to achieve this goal. He began by overrunning the domains of Gordania and Zaranor with his vicious Bloodfang tribe and creating a stronghold in the Gordanian forest now known as Orcwood. Soon after, he began to rally hundreds of orc clans under his banner. Before long they became the dominant humanoid force in the land.

As they began to advance across Gloriant, they eventually came into conflict with my people. At first, we had little problem defending ourselves against the orc armies, repelling them time and again, winning each battle decisively. After several defeats, Grudarc knew he would need more than just large numbers to accomplish his goal. They began to focus on gathering more and better weaponry and magic skills that might give them a better chance at victory. And for good measure, Grudarc forged an alliance with the Mind Flayers, who saw the war as an opportunity to gain control of the lands themselves, once the orcs had done most of the work. With their improved skill and the help of the Mind Flayers, the orcs were finally able to overcome our forces and slaughter many of my kind.

After many years of orc rampages, the elven, dwarven and human races joined with my people to battle the orcs in what would later be known as the First Great War. The war raged for many years, and the unified forces led by the great King of Men Amaes Gloriant, Dwarven King Edrinli Thunderhold and the great elven king Valeridas Sunstar battled Grudarc’s forces tooth and nail but could not gain an advantage. Finally, the great wizard Willard created an army of living constructs called the Warforged who fought with the unified races. It was their help that turned the tide of the war, and after a monumental battle in the Valley of Dread, the unified races defeated the orcs and Mind Flayers, with King Gloriant dealing the final blow by beheading Grudarc on the field of battle.

After the loss of their leader, the orcs were all but defeated and the Mind Flayers fled to their secret cities under the earth, to the place now know as The Underdark. As in all wars, though, the victory came at a great cost. The spoils of the war caused the near elimination of many of the humanoid races and many animal species. Even my people seemed to be sensing the end of our species.

But, as it has long been said, “life finds a way”, and in time, the populations of the humanoid races became plentiful again. Many new and strange species of creatures began to emerge, to coincide with the return of the Alduvians, and also unfortunately, the orcs. It was during this Second Age of Gloriant that our continent was named for the first King Gloriant, who became the first recognized High King of the land.

                              THE SECOND GREAT WAR

For another two hundred years, there was a relative peace throughout the land, as each of the human domains developed their own varying styles of government, but kept a general sense of peace with the other domains. The dwarves, elves, and humans generally kept the orcs at bay, and kept a general sense of peace, however tenuous, with each other. There were many relatively small conflicts, as there has always been and will always be, as good battled evil on a daily basis. But in general, the lands were prosperous and there was a balance between good and evil. It was also known as the first Great Age of Adventure, where the spoils of the last Great War left many ruins to explore, many treasures to claim and drove the bold to seek out new lands to discover.

It was near the end of this civil period that twin brothers were born, Ironious and Teronious. It is said that they were the spawn of a human mother and a great silver Aludvian, Maranog, that often assumed human form, to allow him to seduce females as he pleased. It is believed that their half-dragon lineage gave them great gifts for magic, and they became the two greatest wizards the world had ever known. The two brothers were as different as day and night, though. Teronious was kind and caring man, who used his power for good and to help others. Ironious was a darker, more sullen individual, who delved in dark magic and rarely used his powers for the general good. Each of them was a great teacher, however, and they trained hundreds of wizards, of all races and all alignments, including Tenser, Rary and Mordenkainen. And it was one of their students who would bring an end to the civil period and bring about the next Great War.

Montarrio, a Drow elf who came from a family of wizards, was Ironious’ greatest student. Despite his arrogance and cruel nature, he became of favorite of Ironious nearly from the first day he arrived and he worked closely with him for years. In short time, it became glaringly obvious to Montarrio that Ironious was immensely jealous of Teronious. At every opportunity, he played on that jealousy to help stoke the flames of dissension between the two brothers. After many years of studying with Ironious, learning everything he could from him, even thing that Ironious taught no other students, Montarrio felt he had he become nearly the equal of the brothers; and he knew it was time for him to eliminate his competition. Accounts vary as to what he actually did, but Montarrio orchestrated an incident that brought Ironious’ jealousy to the boiling point. It made Ironious fly into a murderous rage and he engaged in a deadly wizard’s duel with his brother. The battle raged for hours, each of them unable to gain an advantage over the other. Finally, with both wizards exhausted and near collapse, Montarrio unleashed a fury of evil magic upon them and killed him them both. After finishing off several of the brothers’ other students, he became the supreme wizard of the land.
Now that he was the supreme wizard, Montarrio felt he should be the ruler of all of Gloriant. He spent many years creating an empire in Gordania, building a great castle deep within the Morgath Mountains and gathering great wealth and many followers. Over time, he gathered a massive army of evil and then he began to wage war against all the domains of Gilthorian. Nearly all the domains fell quickly, leaving only the combined forces of the domains of Xania and Gloriant to fight Montarrio’s army. Eventually, Montarrio’s armies pushed the opposing force to within a few miles of the Gloriant capital of Thorgilliath.

The turning point of the war came during the Battle of Ainar’Din, where the members of the greatest party of adventurers in the land; Xander Daellion, the mighty warrior and leader of the party; Maradak the Mysterious, the powerful mage; Sian the Cleric; Pergathon, the halfing thief; and Kalen, the dwarven fighter, were able to join the battle after returning from imprisonment many lands away thanks to the trickery of Montarrio. Their onslaught brought out Montarrio himself and his greatest warrior, the general of his armies, the legendary blackguard, Ethirios the Cruel. After a monumental battle, that legend says made thousands of warriors stop life and death battle to watch, Xander Daellion eventually slew Ethirios. Then Montarrio joined the battle and he nearly defeated the entire Great Party by himself. Just as Montarrio was about to finish them off, two lightning bolts came out of the heavens to strike Montarrio. Most believe it came from the spirits of Teronious and Ironious, who sent them to exact their revenge on their treacherous former student. It did not kill the evil Montarrio but it stunned him long enough for Daellion summon enough strength to rise and cut off Montarrio’s head. Then quickly and wisely, Maradak captured Montarrio’s soul and imprisoned it in a soul stone to keep him from returning ever again. Without Montarrio’s power and Ethiros’ leadership, the allied forces were able to rout the remaining forces of Montarrio’s army and within a few days, the war was over.

It has been nearly 25 years since that day and the continent is still in a state of recovery. Once again, the lands were razed and many species were near extinction after the ravages of the war. But as mentioned before, life is resilient and the lands are slowly again becoming prosperous. Xander Daellion is now the High King of Gilthorian and he and his wife, Queen Diiva Daellion, have given their resources to restore many of the communities that were destroyed during the war, not just in their own domain, but also across the continent. They have helped strengthen the union among the peoples of all domains and along with the other retired members of the Great Party, and the X Knights, King Xander Daellion’s special guard, they have kept the peace in the land and have given all the races hope for a bright future. King Daellion’s reign has signaled the dawn of the Third Age of Gilthorian.

And there you have the history of Gloriant so far. What happens next, nobody knows except The Creator himself. But this much I can tell you, reader: the Alduvians will be there, watching it and recording what transpires to enlighten the future generations of Gilthorian. I bid you farewell, and may The Creator watch over you.

And as such begins a new great age of adventure for any who are bold enough to seek it.

                              • Gloriant Information

Some key information about the land of Gloriant (constant work in progress...):

                                • The exact size of the continent of Gloriant is unknown, but the explored portion is approximately 2 million square miles in size. However, many Lorekeepers and scholars feel that the land is probably at least 10 times that large. The weather varies from region to region, with the northern regions of the land trending colder and the southern and western coastal regions being warmer. There are 5 known domains of Gloriant: Lothos, located on the northwest coast of the continent; Musthias, in the far southwest; Gordania, to the north; Kanai, in the known center of the continent; and the largely unexplored mysterious land to the far east, Xania.

Days of the Week (in Common tongue):

                                Jaie (Winter)

                                • As stated in the history of Gloriant, the land is a state of renewal and recovery. The population of all the humanoid races is increasing steadily and most animal (magical or otherwise) species are gaining in numbers also. The two races that seem to be increasing the most rapidly, though, are goblins (as would be expected) and strangely, Drow elves, which normally were rarely encountered outside of a few areas, but have been showing up in all the regions lately. The one species that seems to be struggling to gain its former strength are the dragons, which comes as a surprise, given their power and revered status.

                                • While the animal populations in general are showing signs of recovery, it should be noted that many creatures have been found wandering in areas that are not their natural habitat. Most Rangers and Druids believe this is an after effect of the war, caused by numerous forest fires and fallout from dark magic spells that either destroyed certain creatures’ natural habitats, or drove off the animals that were their food sources, forcing them to wander into uncommon terroritories.

                                • In his quest for power, Montarrio made it a point to destroy as many wizards, sorcerers and clerics of all alignments as he could throughout the war. As such, there are few of their kind left in the Gloriant lands. Clerics have begun to appear more frequently due to the people’s reliance on their faith to get them through the dark times. However, wizards and sorcerers are rare in all are races, save the elven races and a few other races that have strong magical roots, such as ogre mages. As such, many younger people in the outlying areas of the domains have never even seen a magic user of any sort. One interesting side effect of this mass elimination of mages is that there are a number of extra-planar creatures wandering the continent that were summoned but never returned to their home plane.

                                • The region of Gloriant where I will be focusing in the Daellion Monarchy in the country of Lothos. The capital city of Thorgilliath and the delta cities of Heltonford and Alabaster Shoals have been growing very quickly over the past 10 years. Pretty much all the major trade and resources for the domain outside of agriculture and mining originate from those cities.

                                • The outlying settlements in the domain have been slower to repopulate. News from the further reaches of the country Lothos has been very infrequent and information about the other domains has been practically non-existent for people outside of the larger settlements and cities for years.

                                • The Royal Hierarchy in Lothos fairly similar to most traditional kingdoms. King Xander Daellion and his wife, Queen Diiva Olias Daellion are the High King and Queen of the domain of Lothos, and in most people’s eyes, the highest royal family of Gloriant. Next in line are their sons, Jaxx and Jacade, and their daughters, Tishana, Alispeth, Danea and Arisema. Most of the outlying cities and townships are overseen by the Olias Family Grand Dukes and Duchesses (too many to name here), or the Barons, who rank just below the Grand Dukes and Duchesses, due their lineage from other great families of Lothos. The X Knights are the next highest ranking class, and their status is derived not from their family lineage, but their acceptance and training as a member of this elite royal knighthood.

                                GLORIANT RACIAL INFORMATION

There are five main human races on the continent of Gloriant. They are described below:

Lothosian – They are the most prevalent human race on the continent. They are generally fair-skinned, and have hair ranging from light blonde to dark black and eye colors of green, blue, brown, red, and hazel.

Musthian – Musthians are well known throughout the continent as being great warriors. As their domain borders the dark lands of Gordania, it was a must for their survival. Their skin color is brown, with many degrees of lightness and darkness, and they have dark brown or black hair and eyes. They tend to have a great dislike for Gordanians due to the constant conflict between the two lands and the destruction reaped upon their land by Montarrio during the Second Great War.

Kanaian – Kanaians are an olive-skinned race with dark hair and eyes. They are a people that place great emphasis on spirituality and the acquisition of knowledge. Few of their kind are warriors, although the ones that are, are quite crafty and ingenious in battle.

Gordanian – It is rare that Gordanians stray far from their domain but there are a few that have set up settlements in the other areas of the continent. They have dark blue skin of slightly varying degrees and most of them, male and female, are bald. Those few that are not have striking jet-black or bright red hair. They have eye colors of black, blue, and green. Coming from the dark lands of Gordania, they are generally untrusted by the other races of Gloriant and their trademark aloofness does little to dissuade others from that prejudice.

Xanian - Very little is known about the Xanians other than they are olive-skinned, with dark hair and dark, narrow eyes. The few that have been encountered have been noted as incredible martial warriors and gifted with magic.

                                OTHER RACES:

                                Dwarves -

                                Elves -

                                Halflings -

                                Gnomes -

                                Brownies -

                                Giants -

                                Goblinoids -

                                Orcs -

                                Dragons (Alduvians) -

Devils/Demons - (Note: I am not splitting devils and demons like they are in D&D, they are all basically the same thing from slightly different levels of Hell).
