    Remember it ?
Nope. Doesn't mean I won't consider making builds. Me knowing anything about a character has never been a detriment to my willingness to stat it.

I think Jab did some builds from there, though.

I told myself I was going to wait until Gencon (which I am attending YIPPEE!) in hopes that I can get Butcher to sign it and therefore I will be reading my personally autographed copy of the book when I first read it. So that I can constantly tell people that I read a personally autographed copy of Skin Game. Because I rarely get to be elitist about anything, so I figure this is my chance!

Once it's done, you can probably expect some builds from there. I'll be start hitting the Dresdenverse fairly soon with standard builds, but I can probably do some updated versions, too. Many of the characters, like Molly, obviously, have changed so much since they were first introduced that some Evolution Of type builds are probably in order.

Relationships: She is close to her brother, Chris, Leon Kennedy and several of theirother teammates in the BSAA.

      Abilities 52 + Skills 20 (40 ranks) + Advantages 8 + Powers 0 + Defenses 10 = 90 / 90

Build Comments: Haven’t seen Claire much, but from the Wiki’s and Claire/Lara’s builds and usage of her, I think I have a good basis to whip her up.

Secret Origins: Claire grew up with her older brother Chris. Eventually, Chris skipped college and joined the US Air Force, while Claire became a student at a university, and took an interest in motorcycles. Claire has been trained in military combat techniques by Chris, and has learned how to handle herself in hand-to-hand combat, as well as being able to wield a multitude of weapons including combat knives and firearms.

The Story so Far: Claire arrived to Raccoon City in search of her brother, but found something much worse. After she is saved from a zombie by Leon, Claire and Leon hatch a plan to get out of Raccoon City as soon as they can. After being separated by a zombified trucker, Claire and Leon headed towards the police station from opposite directions, where they hoped to rendezvous. Claire managed to get into the Raccoon City Police Department.

Claire explores the deserted police station and eventually finds Chris' Diary in the S.T.A.R.S. office, which she reads and finds out that Chris is no longer in Raccoon City, as he went to investigate Umbrella Headquarters in Europe, and asks Claire to forgive him for not informing her as to where he was going. Claire eventually runs into the corrupt Chief Brian Irons, who then attempts to kill her, and twelve-year-old Sherry Birkin, the daughter of two important Umbrella researchers, William Birkin and Annette Birkin. Claire encountered Annette on at least one occasion, during which she accused Claire of being a spy for Umbrella.

As Sherry and Claire looked for a way out of the city, they were stalked by the mutated William Birkin. Whilst inside the sewers, Sherry and Claire were separated, during which time Sherry was found by William and infected with the G-virus. Upon reuniting, Claire attempted to find a cure for Sherry within Umbrella's underground labs. While in the laboratory, Claire ran into Annette one more time, before William arrives and fatally wounds his former wife.

Before dying, Annette gave Claire the instructions for creating the G-virus antidote. Claire contacts Leon to take Sherry to an escape train before the lab self-destruct sequence activated. She manages to create the antidote, and when finished, attempts to flee. However, she was thwarted once again by Birkin, forcing her to fight the monster, Claire then rushed to the train, joined Leon, and successfully administered the vaccine to Sherry. Unfortunately, Birkin, now a gigantic amorphous blob, attacked the train, thus triggering another self-destruct sequence. Claire, Leon, and Sherry escaped moments before the train exploded, destroying William once and for all. Not long after their escape, Leon urged her to leave them and go search for her brother, but goes to the neighboring town first to wash off the nightmares she experienced.

Characterization: She is the quick witted, strong-willed younger sister of Chris Redfield. Claire is very much a tomboy, but she has some traits that make her more girly than she appears, mentioning that she is scared of spiders and cockroaches.

Friends and Foes: Claire also develops very close relationships with other characters like Leon, Steve, Sherry, and Rani to name a few. She is also very close to her older brother; Chris.

Have fun at Gencom, mate. Though, it's good form to be humble (Michael Carpenter sure would say so, wouldn't he?), I get the want for the author to sign it. Good luck in getting that sig!

And if you're doing "Evolution Of", Skin Game appears to have quite a few character evolutions. There's a bunch of new characters, and a lot of the old ones have gotten a great deal of upgrades. Molly being the obvious one (she's friggin' Winter Lady now), but there are others...

Here's a teaser: Harry learns Parkour!

Wait. Stop right there. A universe where Thorpacolpyse hasn't played the orgy of bloody mayhem so grandiose that even Nintendo let the blood flow in their version of it DOES NOT COMPUTE.

Up is down, east is west, dogs and cats are living together, Rob Liedfeild is doing art for Gail Simone... The universe doesn't make any sense anymore.

It has a Indian with laser tomahawks and a scimitar wielding skeleton! A cyborg death machine fighting a boxer! A werewolf! A Veliciraptor! The weaponized pointy-points of Black Orchid's breasts!

Hey me too! Now I have the horribly difficult decision of which book to have Butcher sign. I'm leaning towards Changes since it's probably my favorite, but still...

Indeed. There's one person in particular (though you may not have reached that point yet) I'm hoping gets an updated build.

                  Spoilers, I guess.
If he's the local McCoy, then yes. Yes he does. God, I loved that scene.

Personally, I'm still trying to contain my giggles about the 'pregnancy'... ;P

As far as my place in the novel so far, the group has just opened the Gate of Blood, and that scene was just heart-wrenching. I mean, the two are creatures of incredible evil, but it was just... damn.

Though, I'm rather hoping to finally get builds for Nicodemus, Deidre, Valmont, and Binder. Molly, Butters, and (maybe) Murphy need updates. Harry needs the update as well (Parkour!). And we need builds for the newcomers Ascher and the Genoskwa...

                    Abilities 74 + Skills 21 (42 ranks) + Advantages 14 + Powers 13 + Defenses 13 = 135 / 135

Build Comments: The queen of Fanservice herself (get it, FAN-service?!?!? HA! I kill me!), Kitana. She’s another of the iconic members of the cast, being around since MKII and basically bigfooting Sonya Blade out of being the main female character in the game. She become so popular that they pallet swapped Mileena and Jade in short order.

She’s got some wicked capabilities with those fans and is fun to play with her quick hitting style.

Secret Origins: Kitana was introduced as Shao Kahn's daughter and personal assassin. Her true feelings and alignment were a mystery, though they were revealed to the Earthrealm warriors during the tournament. She was not really the daughter of Shao Kahn, but in fact his stepdaughter; she was adopted by Kahn, as an infant, to strengthen his claims to the Edenian throne after he killed its king, Jerrod, and married Jerrod's wife, Queen Sindel, who were Kitana's parents. Suspecting she would someday learn the truth, however, Kahn instructed Shang Tsung to create a twin for Kitana; the monstrous Mileena, who was actually a grotesque and evil clone of Kitana.

Kitana grew up dutifully loyal to Shao Kahn, whom she believed was her real father. She grew up to be one of Shao Kahn's personal assassins, alongside her good friend Jade and her evil "sister" Mileena. Upon learning the truth about her past, she continued to feign loyalty to Kahn whilst she planned and waited for the right time to turn against him openly.
                    WORK IN PROGRESS

The Story so Far: Kitana's chance finally came during the second Mortal Kombat tournament, when Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung lured Earth's heroes into Outworld. Kitana entered the tournament, but secretly began to contact one of Earth's heroes, trying to help them defeat Kahn. However, Kitana's efforts were discovered by her clone Mileena. Mileena attacked her traitorous "sister," forcing Kitana to defend herself. She defeated and killed Mileena, and in so doing revealed that she was no longer loyal to Shao Kahn.

The Earthrealm warriors escaped from Outworld, but Kitana was imprisoned and sentenced to death for killing Mileena. However, after Sindel's resurrection and Shao Kahn's subsequent invasion of Earthrealm, she managed to escape and rejoin her friends from Earth. Her only purpose was to save the resurrected Sindel and remove the evil taint in her soul.

Kitana also had to contend with her friend Jade, who was sent by Kahn to capture her. Kitana seemingly managed to convince her to turn against Kahn and join the forces of good. Jade then helped the Princess defeat Reptile, another assassin sent by Kahn to capture Kitana. However, Jade remained loyal to Kahn and the two battled, with Kitana eventually emergining victorious. Eventually, Kitana reached through to her mother and freed her from Kahn's grasp. Shao Kahn's reign over Earthrealm was short-lived, as he and his elite forces were ultimately defeated. In the wake of these events, Kitana and Sindel freed Edenia as well. Before leaving Earthrealm, Kitana thanked Liu Kang for all he had done.

Earthrealm had barely recovered from its violent merger with Outworld, however, as a new threat presented itself in the form of Shinnok. He and his grand vizier Quan Chi invaded Edenia from the forbidden Netherrealm and imprisoned its legitimate rulers.

No novice to escaping from prisons, Kitana broke loose once more, only to encounter a resurrected Mileena now in the service of Shinnok. She defeated Mileena in battle before locking her in a jail cell in the prisons of the Edenian Palace. The forces of darkness were soon defeated by Raiden and his comrades, and Edenia was free once more. It is after these events that Kitana finally proposed to Liu Kang and offered to rule Edenia together as King and Queen. Liu Kang reluctantly denied her offer, saying his place was as Champion of Earth.

After Shinnok's defeat, Kitana learned that Shao Kahn had survived his defeat in Earthrealm and was trying to regain his strength in Outworld. Realizing the vulnerable position of her realm, however, Kitana hastily formed an alliance with the Shokan, a powerful and ancient race that had fallen in disgrace with the weakened Emperor. After having mediated a peace accord between the two mortal enemies of Shokan and Centaur after Shinnok's defeat, Kitana and her forces prepared for battle.

The combined armies, led by Prince Goro and Kitana herself, marched against Outworld's armies a few years later, with much initial success. However, in the decisive moments, Goro was mortally wounded by the mysterious Noob Saibot, ending the battle with a draw.

Shortly thereafter, Kitana learned that Shao Kahn had been slain by unknown assassins. Thinking her fight was finally over, Kitana began to journey back to Edenia, hoping she could finally live in peace. However, she then encountered her old ally Kung Lao and he told her of a new threat: the "Deadly Alliance" of Quan Chi and Shang Tsung.

Characterization: Princess Kitana is 10,000 years old, but is considered young in her realm of Edenia and only appears to be in her early twenties. Throughout the years, she rose to great importance; first as the loyal stepdaughter of Shao Kahn, then as his enemy, tearing herself away from his grasp and freeing her home realm of Edenia. She also led an army into Outworld to combat any chance of Shao Kahn rising to power again.

Friends and Foes: Kitana is still close to her mother, Queen Sindel, and has had romantic feelings for Liu Kang for some time. She and her former best friend Jade, have a complicated relationship, each still trying to bring the other to their side of the battle for Outworld. She has a heated rivalry with her clone “sister” Mileena and their “father” Shao Kahn.

                      KOMPLIKATIONS:
Konflicted: Jade was best friends with Kitana for years, but she is also bound to Shao Kahn deeper reasons than we know. She aids both, but is conflicted about her true purpose.
Enemy: She has a great enmity towards Mileena and Reptile wants revenge on her as well.
Relationships: She has a komplicated relationship with her former best friend Kitana.
                      Responsibility: To serve Shao Kahn.

                      Abilities 70 + Skills 20 (40 ranks) + Advantages 16 + Powers 16 + Defenses 13 = 135 / 135

Build Comments: I had a good fight or two with Jade back in the day, but I haven’t used her recently during the MK revival at Thorpe’s Deep. In my setting, I am using her as more of a villain, or at least as a pawn that might make a face turn at some point.

Secret Origins: Jade is a childhood friend of Princess Kitana. Like Kitana, Jade's origins were not from Outworld. She originated from the realm of Edenia, a realm conquered many years ago by the emperor, Shao Kahn. A longtime ally of the Edenian crown, and a close friend to Princess Kitana, Shao Kahn had her trained to be a proficient and formidable assassin under his command.

The Story so Far: During the Earthrealm invasion by Shao Kahn's army, Kitana was sentenced to death after pleading guilty for treason and murdering Mileena during the events of the second tournament. She escaped Outworld and fled to Earthrealm. Enraged, Shao Kahn appointed Jade and Reptile to venture into Earthrealm and capture the princess. Jade was assured that Kahn wanted Kitana back alive, but Reptile was secretly told to bring Kitana back by any means necessary including death.

The two ventured into Earth to find Kitana. However, Jade found herself torn between loyally carrying out Kahn's orders and betraying her friend. She thwarted Reptile's assassination attempt, but proceeded to fight Kitana with the goal of defeating her and completing her mission for her master without the death of her friend. However, Kitana managed to defeat her and joined Raiden and his Earthrealm combatants in the battle against Shao Kahn and his forces. Of immediate importance, however, was Kitana's personal mission to reach and warn the resurrected Queen Sindel about their true past together. Jade's assistance made that possible, with Sindel's memories recovered, she turned against the emperor. Shortly afterward, Shao Kahn was defeated by Liu Kang and Kitana went on to free Edenia from Outworld. Jade left with her master, much to Kitana’s dismay.

Characterization: Jade's confident and sassy personality belies her conflicted nature as a lifelong friend of Kitana, but loyal to her master Shao Kahn. She is sarcastic, patronizing and cocky towards her opponents, and incredibly ruthless towards those she considers a personal enemy (at one point splashing Tarkatan essence on the Edenian traitor, Tanya, and allowing her to be torn to pieces by Baraka's militia).

Friends and Foes: Despite their rivalry, she still has a loyalty Kitana but also to Shao Kahn.

                        KOMPLIKATIONS:
                        Hatred: Kitana.
Monstrous Appearance: She loses her Attraktive advantage if she removes her veil and exposes her large mouth with jagged teeth.
Motivation: Gaining power and eventually ruling in her "sister's” stead.

                        Abilities 70 + Skills 20 (40 ranks) + Advantages 17 + Powers 15 + Defenses 13 = 135 / 135

Build Comments: I was thinking of more villains I could add to the Thorpacoverse so I figured I would grab a few from different media than comics. So I’m adding to my MK line with good old Mileena. She’s one of my faves from the game, even though my godson would always my ass with her.

Secret Origins: Mileena is a clone of Kitana, created by Shang Tsung's sorcery in his flesh pits for Shao Kahn, using Tarkatan physiology.

The Story so Far: Mileena was first introduced during the second tournament. Meant to be a loyal replacement for Kitana, she is physically and mentally damaged, her animalistic rage controlled only by Shao Kahn as she uses her lascivious behavior to lure victims and then slaughter and devour them. She is referred to by Shao Kahn as his "true daughter" and when Kahn appeared to be killed, his minions even discussed making her new ruler of Outworld. However, her very immature personality and behaviour gives them pause.

When Kahn reappeared, she remained his loyal second and is one of the key players in his alliance with (not saying yet…) in their plans to rule Earth.

Characterization: Mileena is a vicious foe, although she can be moody and immature at times. She despises Kitana, and feels that it is her own right to rule Edenia as Princess in her place. Her fondest wish is to kill her "sister", and claim her existence for her own.

Friends and Foes: Her greatest rival is Kitana, although she has fought many opponents in Outworld. She is loyal to Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung and has an uneasy alliance with Baraka.

                          KOMPLIKATIONS:
Bloodlust: Skarlet can fall prey to her own bloodlust, kausing her to become overaggressive and leave herself vulnerable to her foes.
Responsibility: To her master, Shao Kahn.

                          Abilities 60 + Skills 13 (26 ranks) + Advantages 20 + Powers 16 + Defenses 11 = 120 / 120

Build Comments: Skarlet is a new DLC character for MK9, that I haven’t gotten a hold of yet. But from watching her walkthroughs and reading her stats, she deseveres the full PL8. She’s as fast as her other pallet swap sisters and her Blood Ball attack hits really hard, but comes at a cost. It drains her health meter in the game a lot, so replicating that with giving her a point of damage per use seems fair. I may go back and add some Healing with blood ingestion or something to give her a better chance to use it, but considering how hard it hits for a new character, leaving it as it might be fairest.

Secret Origins/The Story so Far: The female kombatant known as Skarlet is actually a being made by Shao Kahn himself, due to the fact that he trusted very few people. Shao Kahn created Skarlet by collecting the blood of countless warriors, and infusing them with sorcery. A literally bloodthirsty warrior, Skarlet gained strength from the blood of her opponents, which meant that she was only released by her master as a last resort. As such, she is typically kept chained until he had a need of her services. During the last Mortal Kombat Tournament, he released her on a mission: to uncover Quan Chi's true intentions. Should she discover any plot to destroy her creator, she is tasked with eliminating any such threats.

Toughness +5 (+3 without Defensive Roll), Fortitude +6, Will +5

                            KOMPLIKATIONS:
Arrogance: Frost is very overkonfident in her abilities and quite self-obsessed. Enemy: She believes her former mentor, Sub-Zero, betrayed her so she seeks vengeance.
Motivation: Becoming the Grand Mistress of the Lin Kuei.

                            Abilities 54 + Skills 18 (36 ranks) + Advantages 12 + Powers 25 + Defenses 11 = 120 / 120

Build Comments: Frost is pretty much what she looks like, a female Sub-Zero. I thought she might be a good foe for Batgirl or Huntress.

Secret Origins: After Sub-Zero became Grand Master of the Lin Kuei clan, he held a tournament in order to recruit strong warriors. The victor was Frost, whose exceptional skills impressed him. Her dedication to fighting and learning is overshadowed by her arrogance and hostility towards anyone she perceives to be greater than her, including her own sifu, and Sonya.

The Story so Far: Breaking Lin Kuei tradition, Sub-Zero took her as his protegée and personally trained her. With his assistance, her ability to focus her freezing power increased. However, as her skills grew, so did her arrogance. Sub-Zero was unable to teach her humility.

When Raiden requested Sub-Zero's assistance in defeating the sorcerers Quan Chi and Shang Tsung, Frost's training was cut short. Sub-Zero brought her along with him for assistance, hoping at the same time she would attain perspective and enlightenment through the experience of actual battle. After meeting with the other Earthrealm warriors, she accompanied Sub-Zero into Outworld.

Once there, her true intentions for joining the Lin Kuei became apparent. Desiring to become Grand Master of the clan herself, she immobilized Sub-Zero with a freezing blast, and tore the Dragon Medallion, an artifact which enhanced Sub-Zero's abilities, as well as the symbol of Lin Kuei leadership, from his chest. Without the strength and discipline required to control the medallion's power, she was consumed by her own freezing ability, seemingly killing her.

Forgiving her for her betrayal, Sub-Zero searched for a suitable place to bury her remains. He discovered the ancient ruins of a holy structure erected by the long-lost race of Cryomancers. After careful study of the building, Sub-Zero came to believe that both he and Frost were their descendants, and laid her body to rest in a sarcophagus before leaving.

However, Frost awoke some time after Sub-Zero's departure, miraculously alive after all. Realizing she was still in Outworld and thinking that Sub-Zero had left her for dead, she swore to make him pay. Frost then returned to the Lin Kuei temple, hearing Sub-Zero was still in Outworld and hoping to kill him.

Recently, it appears she has become one of the leaders of the Lin Kuei, who, after Sub-Zero’s departure, have gone back to their villainous ways.

Characterization: While she is a gifted warrior, her arrogance and hostility keep her from achieving the greatness she could truly attain.

Friends and Foes: She has a great enmity for Sonya Blade, who she fought in an MK Tourney and her former mentor, Sub-Zero.

                              OFFENSE:
                              Initiative +3

                              COMPLICATIONS:
Obsession: Only extreme heat can sustain her, and Firestorm's particular heat is perfect for her
Weakness: Caitlin needs to absorb heat to not only fuel her powers, to sustain herself. Without it, she can become impaired, disabled and eventually die

                              Abilities 44 + Skills 13 (26 ranks) + Advantages 1 + Powers 59 + Defenses 19 = 136 / 136

Build Comments: I always liked ice themed heroes and villains and Killer Frost is one of my faves. In the comics she was OK, but in JLU, she rocked. I think it was the punk/goth makeover that did it for me. Regardless, I felt the need to do my own version with some Power Profile updates to her cold powers.

I wanted a younger Killer Frost, more focused on power so I am doing a JLU/New 52 hybrid type of thing.

Secret Origins: As the one of the youngest and brightest scientists S.T.A.R. has ever recruited, Caitlin Snow began working with other scientists at S.T.A.R. labs outpost #72: The Thermodynamics Division. She was greeted and welcomed by the staff, but behind closed doors they wanted her gone. She took the place of another scientist, Dr. Louise Lincoln, and began studying her work on creating a self-sustaining thermodynamic engine which can create a perpetual motion of solar energy which would change the world’s idea of conducting energy.

On the verge of finishing the machine, her fellow scientists locked her in the chamber. They wanted the engine to explode with her in it, but things didn't go according to plan. The ultra conductor started feeding back into itself, and a bright light flashed before their eyes. Caitlin had rearranged the super-coolant wiring right before they turned the machine on, and it overloaded allowing the chamber to be flooded with cold air. The combination changed her completely.

The Story so Far: She emerged from the giant block of ice, grabbing the person nearest to her and draining him of his life. She felt so empty, that his warmth fed her, and thats when she knew she needed warmth to feel alive. One by one each of the scientists fell prey to her cold hands. From then on her life was never the same.

Three years later, her intellect allowed her to design a suit that could retain the heat she took from others yet she still needed to take the life of another. The one day she had her first fight with Firestorm, and she knew that his power was the only power that could make her normal again.

Try after try, she would get energy from him, but it never lasted long enough. From here on out she would try to either defeat him, or come up with something similar.

Characterization: Killer Frost has a heart as cold as her powers.

Friends and Foes: She remains a foe of Firestorm.

                                COMPLICATIONS:
Doom of Damocles: For her role in the Identity Crisis, Zatanna is under the Doom of Damocles of the White Council of Wizards.
Guilt: Zatanna feels guilt over the death of her father, Zatara, who sacrificed himself to save her.
Power Loss: Zatanna needs to speak aloud (and backwards) to cast her spells.

                                Abilities 52 + Skills 34 (68 ranks) + Advantages 17 + Powers 62 + Defenses 21 = 186 / 186

Build Comments: Zatanna is a mainstay of the DC mystical universe. There’s something timelessly fun about the speaking backward for her spells that will keep her cool for years to come. And her hotness doesn’t hurt either…

I really liked the take Young Justice did of her as a younger hero and getting the legendary Zatara into the mix for a bit, but I’m sticking closer to classic Z for this build.

Secret Origins: Zatanna Zatara is the daughter of magician Giovanni “John” Zatara and Sindella, a member of the mystical Homo Magi race. Zatanna is a direct descendant of the artist and magician Leonardo da Vinci, and is related to Nostradamus; Alessandro Cagliostro; the noted alchemists Nicholas Flamel and Evan Fulcanelli; and Lord Arion of Atlantis. Her cousin, Zachary Zatara, is also a magician.

Zatanna was a successful stage illusionist before she discovered her true magical powers while investigating the disappearance of her father. With the help of Batman, the Atom, Elongated Man and others, she was successfully reunited with him. Their time together was short, and unfortunately, both of her parents were killed on separate occasions while saving her life.

The Story so Far: Zatanna assisted the Justice League of America on a number of cases before being elected to full membership. During her tenure with the group her power levels diminished briefly, so that she could only control the four elements: earth, air, fire, and water. It should be noted that this limitation was only temporary and that her magical ability was fully restored. Later Zatanna was worried about her lack of focus while using magic. She decided that her father's style of magic was wrong for her, and explored her mother's mystical heritage.

While Zatanna was a member of the Justice League, the villain Dr. Light stole aboard the Watch Tower and raped the Elongated Man's wife Sue Dibny. When Zatanna and several others Leaguers returned, they saw what Dr. Light had done. A fight broke out and when they finally managed to subdue him, he began to threaten them and their families. Zatanna was prepared to erase Light's memories of the incident, but his terrible brutality and his promises to do it again sparked a debate among the present League members on whether or not to tamper with his personality and prevent him from repeating his crime. Zatanna, Hawkman, and The Atom voted for such action, while Green Arrow, Black Canary, and Green Lantern voted against. The Flash broke the tie and voted to tamper with Light's mind. Zatanna used her magic to do so, but the difficulty of the process resulted in her accidentally lowering his intellect. In the midst of her spell, Batman appeared and tried to stop them. Zatanna froze him, and they voted to have her erase his memories of the incident as well.

Zatanna and Batman’s friendship degraded once Batman discovered what she had done. He began to distrust her and his other friends in the super hero community. When Zatanna helped Batman with reconnaissance at a Lazarus Pit, she asked him why he came to her. "I needed someone I can trust," Batman said, "but I had to settle for you." This must have been especially hard for her to hear, seeing that she and Bruce Wayne had been close friends since childhood.

Recently, however, their relationship appears to have warmed; sometime later he called her for information on a card-counter involved in scamming the Penguin. He makes no mention of their conflict, and casually calls her by her nickname, "Zee".

They also investigated the murder of one of Zatanna's former employees, who died while performing in one of Loxias's shows. When they find Loxias, he revealed that he is not, in fact, who they think he is. He's the Joker. The Joker shot Zatanna and locked her in a tank of water. He managed to get the upper hand on Zatanna and Bruce at first, but Bruce broke the stage chair he was tied to in order to free Zatanna from the tank Joker put her in. Afterwards, Bruce stayed alongside her while she rested through the night. This suggested he still has feelings for her. When Zatanna asks why they didn't start a deeper relationship, Batman stated while he did want to open everything to her, he didn't want to bring her into his dark world. They both depart in a friendly state.

Eventually, news of the mind wiping incident reached the White Council of Wizards and Zatanna was tried as a warlock for breaking the 3rd law. The case seemed clear cut and Zatanna even plead guilty. However, due to the intervention of her friend, Harry Dresden, ex-lover John Constantine and several members of the Justice League, her life was spared and she was put under the Doom of Damocles, meaning that any other infractions against the Seven Laws of Magic would lead her being put to death.

After departing from the League, Zatanna continued her stage career and her vocation as a defender against mystical threats, becoming a member of the Sentinels of Magic. She is also the author of the hugely successful Hex Appeal: The Modern Girl's Guide to Magic.

Zatanna acts as a reserve member of the Justice League, aiding them from time to time when her magical expertise is needed. She declined an offer for full membership, stating her need to take a break from heroics. She is still a regular guardian against mystical threats.

Characterization: Zatanna is one of the most powerful sorceresses in the world. As a tribute to her father and as a focal point, she usually casts spells by speaking verbal commands backwards.

Zatanna is a skilled illusionist, showgirl and stage magician even without resorting to her innate magical powers. In fact she considers part of her "training" exercising sleight of hand tricks, and she claims to have invented a variation of the three card shuffle game called the "Zatara shuffle", in which she's so fast and precise that, even without resorting to cheating, only skilled gamblers like Selina Kyle are able to follow the movements of her hands.

Friends and Foes: Zatanna has had various romantic relationships, including John Constantine (with whom she practiced tantra) and Doctor Thirteen. Zatanna also had a brief flirtational relationship with Harry Dresden, but things never progressed any further than that.

She also has a strong friendship with Batman due to their shared pasts. Catwoman, however, appears to consider Zatanna a more dangerous contender for Bruce's attentions than Jezebel Jet, his fiancée at the time. A pep talk between the two women confirmed how Zatanna really meant, during the fateful discussion with Bruce, to explore the possibility of a true romance, but turned out quietly resigned to the role of best friend and confidant. Claiming to act on Bruce's best interest, she pushed Selina into confessing her feelings to Bruce, thus stealing him from Jezebel Jet before it's too late.
