famed comic relief character of Renaissance romantic epic poetry, Astolfo was among the 12 paladins of King Charlamagne, and friend to the hero Roland (or Orlando, as known in other works). however, in 2012, Astolfo was among the main characters in the light novel series Fate/Apocrypha, and its subsequent manga and anime adaptations catapulting god's perfect idiot hero into pop culture immortality, such that Astolfo is almost as emblematic of the Fate franchise as the various Sabers.

that said, this is not exactly a 1-1 build. this is meant for a more setting-agnostic version of him, to drop yon ditzy goofball yet-no-less-worthy paladin into your high fantasy campaign

an exorbitantly wealthy man, Curtiss Jackson first appeared as a high-ranking member of the Corporation, a criminal cartel that organized itself like a major business. when the Corporation was exposed and destroyed by the efforts of both Captain America and the Incredible Hulk, Jackson's armies of lawyers kept him out of prison, and not long after he was in busness for himself as the titular head of Power Broker Inc., a black market company that would grant people super powers for fees that typically required working for PBI as either part of the Unlimited Class Wrestling Federation, or as costumed henchmen to be rented out to wealthy criminals. What Power Broker kept secret however was that his process was highly flawed, leaving his 'clients' with crippling physical deformities, brain damage or even killing them outright as often as it succeeded, while also keeping the successes in line with addictive drugs and the lie that they were required to 'stabilize' their enhancements. and despite losing the UCWF due to the efforts of the Thing and Captain America, Power Broker remained in business.

that is, until he was targeted by the self-styled Scourge of The Underworld, and in a bid to survive the attack, Jackson subjected himself to his own process, turning him into a hideously deformed creature of superhuman size and strength, his grotesquely excessive liefeldian physique leaving him a nigh-invulnerable invalid, and only the intervention of the USAgent saved his life. afterwards and undaunted, Jackson resumed operations, but now with a persoal project of de-powering former clients as part of a bid to undo his own transformation, before it too was foiled by the USAgent, and to keep his fortune, Power Broker Inc. became a subsidiary of the Red Skull's own criminal cartel.

much later, jackson would return, inexplicably normal again, with a scheme to exploit Earth's brief status as a galactic prison planet, again foiled by the USAgent.

at last mention, Jackson has probably been killed off-page by the Punisher to use his idenity to infiltrate a criminal gathering, and since then a new Power Broker has taken his place as the Marvel universe's one-stop-shop for super-henchmen

an underconfident and failing private investigator, Lester Fegman ultimately tried to shoot himself, only to bungle that too, such that he was rushed to the hospital and surgeons were able to save his life. But, the brain damage had been done, and when he awoke, Lester wholly believed himself to be Emperor Caligula, among the most infamously tyrannical of ancient Roman rulers. with the supreme confidence and strength of madness, Caligula escaped his asylum once he'd regained his strength, and set about uniting numerous street gangs as his 'imperial legion', an army with which to seize power, but more importantly, surround himself with wealth, wine, women and song to sate his every basest impulse. Eventually, superheroes routed Caligula's henchmen, and he himself was sentenced to life in the Gramercy Island supermax prison. Under his delusion, Caligula believes he's victim to a coup, and is currently exiled to his winter palace where he can write his memoirs in peace and comfort, while his legions will come to rescue him and restore him to the throne any day now. the reality is that Caligula's forces fell apart without his leadership, leaving them no way to even think of freeing their boss.

A violent young man but a natural-born street fighter, Bruno Wayamon was facing jailtime when he was offered a way out, to become superhero-in-training under Century Station's resident superhero team, the Centurions, who were desperate to save the city from the urban war zone it was becoming. But it quickly became clear that recruiting Raptor Red was a mistake. Not only did he resist any real training and constantly resent any authority, he was such a poor fit that he was even bringing his fellow trainee heroes down with him. When Raptor ignored orders to help save bystanders so that he could beat fleeing supervillains half-to-death, his membership was revoked and he was sent directly back to prison.

outraged, Bruno broke out of jail soon after and used his life savings on an experimental procedure to give himself superpowers, and the reborn Raptor Red then twice attacked the Centurions before being defeated and sent to the Gramercy Island super-prison, where he remains under near-constant sedation

to escape the drudgery of his life as an IT guy, Simon Strane embraced the online persona of the most bitter, opinionated and argumentive internet tough guy to ever catch a permaban, getting into incredibly hostile debates on every topic and insulting anybody who so much as entered a forum he was in. eventually, Simon's antics got the wrong attention, as one of his opponents was a formerly convicted arsonist, and when he got a hold of Simon's IRL location, sent him a deadly firebomb that literally blew up in simon's face.

But simon didn't die. instead, some genetic x-factor mutated him in response, giving him the power to turn into a monster of living fire. drunk on his transformation, Simon took his revenge on his would-be killer, then upon anybody else who'd ever hurt, mocked or otherwise was against him, a list best summarized as "the entire world". after several rampages and defeats, the so called "Flamebait" is currently being held at the Gramercy Island super-prison under chemical inhibition, but its only a matter of time before somebody messes with the dosage and Flamebait starts another flame war

from Champions Online, Valiant is a bright blue teddy bear with the power of flight and strength to match your typical flying brick hero. nobody's sure what he is, if he's a rogue creation of Black Harlequin who decided they'd rather help than hurt, a child's toy brought to life by Christmas magic, or perhaps some stuffy sentinel from realms beyond. What is clear though is that Valiant is a friend to all children and protectors of children

Seiba doesn't know much about her augmentation other than that her heart was replaced with some sort of advanced technology, but the results were obvious, granting her such powers as flight and energy blasts.

However, things took an unexpected turn, when she learned that Shirin, her significant other, was in fact secretly a Skrull, but enough truth about the Kree to ask herself "Are we the baddies?"

In the resulting events, Seiba, in her own words, "May have committed some... light treason," and then hand in hand with Shirin, flew their stolen shuttle through an unstable wormhole ahead of a pursuing Accuser fleet.

                          • I love the artwork for Raptor Red, Coppertop, etc. down to Flamebait. Nice clean black and white.

Flamebait's backstory is a riot. The ultimate victim of a 'flame war' that got too hot IRL. (Now I kind of want to see someone else who spent too much time 'trolling' online and pissed off some witch who cursed him to become an *actual* troll! As an added bother, he can only rest and recuperate from his wounds when under a bridge...)

Ah, that Chaoticus art. Champions Online has such a distinctive style, I recognized it even before reading the backstory. I like that the mace is summonable, and has a significant amount of range, helping him overcome some of the traditional limitations of being a melee weapon-using superhero.

a technician, Mark Scarlotti just snapped one day, created his first cyber whip and became the supervillain Whiplash, fighting Iron Man at first but quickly carving out a journeyman supervillain niche, working for whichever mastermind would pay the bills, usually Justin Hammer or the Maggia. in the 80's, Scarlotti changed his handle to Blacklash, and in 2000, finally tried to upgrade his kit with a hover skiff and long-ranged energy lash, before he was murdered in battle by Iron Man's sentient armor

Isnt' the Cyber-Whip priced wrong? To me, it's:

(the improved stuff were bought as enhanced trait, I presume)

                              - penetrating +1 [flat, 1pp per rank]
                              - precise [flat 1pp]

                              flaw: easily removable (8+3+3+1+1+1+1+1=19 / 5 = 3,8 x 2 [because it's easily removable, not just removable] = 7,6, rounded up to 8, which means it's final cost is 19-8 = 11 PP

I'm new to the game and would like to understand if I did the math correctly (sorry for polluting your awesome thread)
