  • The Mightyverse!

    Greetings and salutations!

With the shutting down of the old board, it looks as though my old work on The Mightyverse will be lost to the fickle winds of online fate. That said I will post a link to the old thread anyway, to reference for as long as the old board remains active.

    http://www.atomicthinktank.com/viewt...hp?f=3&t=32855

The question now however is do I continue where I left off or start anew with a hopefully more coherent setting? Either way it will contain elements of the Freedomverse, Halt Evil Doer, Bedlam City and various things from Charles Phipps' excellent Black Hole Galaxy setting.

      Re: The Mightyverse!

I'm there Charles, just haven't spoken up yet. I'm considering starting over the Mightyverse from scratch, what do you think of that idea? Also, I'm accepting ideas and suggestions from anybody who cares to make them. It worked well for the Age of Wonders thread and I'm hoping it'll be a boon to the Mightyverse as well.

I'd love to see the Mightyverse 2.0.

Will it be solely you or accepting submissions?

I'm accepting submissions, though naturally I have the final word. I'm quite happy to have help putting the Mightyverse together from whomever is willing to provide it. That was true of original version Mightyverse too by the way.

Cool! I can't wait to see both your insights into both HED! and your intro post for MV 2.0.

Awesome. Hopefully we can get the rest of the old gang to pop by to provide their insight too.

                  Re: The Mightyverse!

Welcome aboard Enigmatic One. I hope to do as well on this thread as I did on the previous one, though naturally I hope to procrastinate less this time and perhaps put the Mightyverse 2.0 together a bit more coherently this time then I did the previous time. The big question of course is where to begin?

I figured a good place to start might be a brief discussion of the Multiverse, since like all superhero universes interdimensional travel happens quite a bit and threats like the One Above All and the Crusade of Darkness threaten more then one dimension.

Earth M is of course the main setting for the Mightyverse, though in universe nobody's quite sure just why their home dimension was labelled that. Some believe it's just a weird Grigori thing and leave it at that.

Earth DC is the DC Universe, pre-Flashpoint and without crappy storylines like Identity Crisis and Cry for Justice.

Anti-Earth is the universe where the heroes of the main universe are villains and vice versa. Not to be confused with Ani-Earth, which is where all the inhabitants are funny animals.

Earth Gestalt is the universe from the Gestalt setting and Earth Paragon is the universe from the Paragon setting.

The Age of Wonders setting shall be designated Earth W, unless Charles wishes to step in and have it designated as something else. Naturally the Star Kingdom of Camelot, the Sovius Empire, Middle-Zoth, the Satrap Empire, the Caliphate and the Celestial Commerce Guild all exist in this setting as well. Oh and the Dragon Empire and Earth-1938, as well as any other Age of Wonders Earths I might have forgotten.

In addition to all that, and various supernatural type worlds I've not covered yet, there's the world of Danu. Danu is similar to Earth, though the nations are all quite different due to the large amounts of werecreatures in the population.

                    Sounds awesome!

Thanks for incorporating the Age of Wonders.

The fact the old DCU exists here is also a great boon.

Agreed Charles and you're welcome. I love the Age of Wonders setting (and not just because everybody involved loved Dr. Justice) and hope it gets revived on this board.

Danu, I should add, is a creation of a friend of mine and mentioned with his permission.

                        Re: The Mightyverse!

Doctor Justice should totally be defender of the Mightyverse.

                            Re: The Mightyverse!

                            The Foundation of World Harmony.

Founded just after the end of World War 2 in order to watch over WMDs and the fastly growing metahuman populace, over the years the Foundation of World Harmony has become one of the greatest bastions of law and order the world had ever seen. Over the years they battled threats like PHANTOM, SHADOW and Unitrol and were responsible for eliminating global threats like the Legion of the Damned. Agents like Jacob Hunter, Daffyd Hughes and Everyman II while mostly unknown to most of the world, though both Jacob Hunter and Everyman II would become fairly famous in their own right, were heroes to those in the know and counted as staunch allies to the superheroes they worked with. Under the leadership of Dame Michelle Holmes, it seemed that the Foundation would be an incorruptible force for goodness for years to come.

Sadly, that was not the case.

The first indication that something was very wrong, was when a PHANTOM agent named Michael Spector was revealed to be the head of the Foundation's American branch. Not only did this cause friction between the Foundation and America's own super agency, AEGIS, but it made Holmes look bad since this had all happened under her watch. Reeling from the scandal Michelle Holmes was made a scapegoat and before she could do much damage control, the various government officials that oversaw the Foundation as well as the mysterious Council that ran it had replaced her as Director with a man by the name of John Hepburn. Immediately Holmes realized the man was incompetent and became suspicious.

Then Foundation agents tried to kill her.

The keyword being tried, as Michelle Holmes was not the only member of the Foundation who smelled a rat. As Michelle Holmes led the men who were trying to kill her on a cat and mouse chase through the back alleys of Paris, Jacob Hunter and Daffyd Hughes would appear to even the odds and between the three of them the killers were themselves killed and Michelle Holmes was taken to safety. Contacting her Uncles, Ulysses and Alexander Steele, Michelle began to investigate the apparent corruption within the Foundation as she began a cat and mouse game with John Hepburn. The more she investigated, the more Holmes was horrified by what she discovered.

By the time she shot Hepburn at Niagara Falls, she realized the situation was far worse then she imagined. Jack Washington III was involved but though he believed he was in charge, he too was being manipulated. There was a conspiracy to co-opt the Foundation of World Harmony and it was clear that the Council was either compromised or actually involved. As she gathered her most loyal agents and retreated into the shadows, Michelle Holmes knew she would be in for the fight of her life. It was at this point that one of her contacts gave her a possible name for this conspiracy, just before he was slain by assassins.

                            Labyrinth.

                              Nicely adapted.

And yes, the Labryinth would make an excellent ultimate foe. After all, an international law enforcement agency that specializes in the superhuman, is well acquainted with black ops and is run by very incorruptible people? Pretty much a bit threat down the road. I mean, Taurus knows it's Dame Michelle Holmes.

He's seen the RDJ movies. He knows where that would lead.
