  • Terminus After the End

The king is dead. Long live the kings! Two thousand of the mightiest warriors and ten thousand elite troops drawn from five different dimensions finally fell the mighty Omega. Only they know how they did it and those who survived were mere shells of themselves wandering aimlessly through the Terminus. In Omegas place, the Doom Coil came to life on its own, sucking dimensions in seemingly at random and without anyone knowing why. Many try, but none can get to it such is its protective shield. What was once the realm of Omega is now home to an out of control dimension destroying device and a war raging for ultimate control of the Terminus plus potentially the Doom Coil itself.

    Sith Omega Drone

    Description

Standing out from the typical Omega drone, these drones were made from a cast of warriors known as the Sith. While Omega was in power, it took a few years of experiments by Dr. Friendly to tame them and the alterations were relatively minor. All that was required was tweaking a few neural pathways and redirecting the natural tendencies of them to dominate to get them to follow the will of Omega. The source of their power, the force, also helped in that Dr. Friendly managed to pervert the natural biological changes that powered the warriors into fighting for entropy. Serving as elite drones, they were assigned to guard duty, interrogations, and the most critical of missions under Shadivan Steelgrave.

After the fall and Steelgraves demise, their allegiances split between each of the Annhilists remaining. In battle though, they have proven not to fight each other preferring to attack the other followers because despite differing pledges their allegiances to themselves was next in line after Omega and Steelgrave. Among all drones, they are perhaps one of the most feared given their powers above and beyond the typical drone such as telekinesis, force lighting, and a litany of other powers.

      Nihilhor

Once the home of Omega, his drone producing factories, annhislist palaces, and of the the Doom Coil is now drastically changed. The ever hungry Doom Coil, after the fall of Omega, started consuming the planets surface and all on it like it hadn't eaten in centuries. Shadivan Steelgrave, his armies, the survivors of the great battle who could not flee, and all still on the planet when the consumption started became food for the starving Doom Coil. The planets surface, once layered with fallen gods now burns with energies so pwoerful any who try to touch them are decimated. In the ensuing wars after Omega's death, many have tried to claim the planet and many have fallen to the hunger of the heart of the planet hungering after more.

At first, everyone vied for control of the planet and hopefully the Doom Coil with it. The Furions made an attempt at taming the planet, but suffered the devastating loss of half their finest warriors before abandoning their plan. The bodies only fed the fires of entropy. Next Tarvon made a move, but even his shadow forces burned. A few gods with realms of their own tried to conquer the planet, but entropy conquered them instead feeding on their realms for additional insult to injury. Now, instead of trying to conquer the planet, forces wage a constant war in the space around for who gets the right to call the planet their own. Debris from ships has formed around the planet like a fractured shield.

At the heart of the planet is the Doom Coil. Untethered to a master, its raw power screams out for food. Without the aid of Omega's armadas it has resorted to siphoning energy from a dimension until their is nothing left and it comes crashing into the Terminus. Everyone assumes it does this because that is what it was made to do. Only the Throne, inside it, knows the horrible truth. Omega did not just fall. When he fell, all of his anger, hate, drive for power, and will fused with the Doom Coil further corrupting it to the point where the energies spewed out of it to bring all into entropy. Magic spells, technological means, and godly powers have tried to effect it from afar but too much of Omega still burns in the Doom Coil. His body may have fallen, but Omega's destructive will lives on through the awesome energies of the Doom Coil.

        Shadows

        Home Planet

        The Last Shadow.

        Leadership

Taarvon the Undying at the pleasure of the Shadow Lords.

        Overview

Drawing strength from the dark dimensions, they seek to control the ability to destroy all. As part of that, as it was since they empowered Taarvon the Undying, they fight to control the Terminus and the Doom Coil. Their forces are made up of a range of shadow creatures and magical beasts. Lead now by a collection of Shadow Lords with Taarvon as the figure head, they make war on the other factions biding their time until all competition is too weakened to oppose the massive attack being prepared and the gates to the Terminus to be swung opened again for them to enter.

        Post Fall History

After the fall of Omega and evacuation of Nihlor, it took time for word to reach Taarvon the Undying due to his less than popular status with the rest of the Terminus inhabitants. Gleefully, he launched an all out assault on the planet to size control of the Doom Coil only to be drawn into the epic battle raging above Nihlor. His forces were slaughtered. Amazingly though, he made it through with a tiny force to the planet, but when his forces tried to get under the planet they were vaporized by the fires of entropy. All of his vaunted forces were gone and he left to rule The Last Shadow alone.

Quickly enough, he got reinforcements from the Shadow World in the form of a new army headed by several Shadow Lords, powerful sorcerers of the Shadow World. While not enough to make another push for the Doom Coil, they were more than a match for any other single faction. On the promise of harnessing the power of the Doom Coil, the Shadow Lords gave their forces over to Taarvon while they started a ritual to let the full force of the Shadow World into the Terminus. Unlike the energies used to let in the legion of fighters who brought down Omega, this ritual would take time and precision. Taarvon just had to keep everyone busy.

          Re: Terminus After the End

          Independent Alliance

          Homeworld

Planetary ship Ohm. While lacking offensive weapons, it is impregnable, self repairing, and can teleport in case of overwhelming attack. Inside, all of the inhabitants needs are met by the highly advanced internal replication systems capable of generating any nourishment needed.

          Leadership

A council of member race elders under a democratic process with each member getting one vote.

          Overview

The independent Alliance is a collection of a million races that broke free from their servitude after the fall of Omega and the chaos that followed. Alone, each of them is too weak to stand on their own, but by pooling their forces under the banner of the abandoned Ohm planet ship they are a haven for all who wish to rebel against the order of how things used to be. Notably, raiders and mercenaries swear allegiance to the alliance because it provides them safe places in the turbulent Terminus so long as alliance members are not harassed.

          Prefall History

In the early days of Omegas rule, one of the races that got drawn into the Terminus was the Ohm. They were an amazingly advanced race who left their planet in favor of a moon sized ship with little in the way of armaments, but having formidable defenses. Omega and other parties of the Terminus tried to take the planet ship at first, but the combination of it's emergency teleport and impregnable hull made them turn their resources to other ventures. Some kept an eye on the immense planet ship, but no one ever saw the ship leave or enter. There also was not any energy signatures indicating teleportation. For all intents and purposes, they stayed where they were and the rest of the Terminus stayed out. Eventually, the ship drifted into the Warpwold and was thought lost. Centuries went by without a peep and the ship was thought lost by those who remembered it and a story to others.

          Post Fall History

Soon after the fall of Omega, the Ohm ship reappeared out of the Warpwold aimless. Its defenses down, a mass of refugees fleeing their civil war torn planets took refuge in it only to find all of the Ohm dead from infighting and madness based on the damage to the ship internals. Fortunately, the ships defenses were fine and quickly reactivated in time to teleport away from an armada lead by Madigral Martinent. The hundred thousand or so creatures comprising an assortment of races from all across the Terminus spread the word about a safe haven. Other races joined either bringing their planets into the safe haven network or taking up residence on the planet ship. Outside of the Ohm planet ship, an alliance formed around it for mutual defense. The affairs of each member were their own so long as they sheltered people sworn to the alliance.

Some raiders, pirates, and mercenaries soon saw the alliance as a place of connivence. While in it, they had protection and safe harbor. The chaos of the Terminus provided enough places to loot, so not harming alliance members was easy enough. Other forces, while not swearing allegiance agreed to help defend the alliance in return for safe harbor and friendly markets making a second class of membership so to speak. Not bound by all the rules, this second class still derived benefit while helping an offensive arm of the alliance. Currently, they stay neutral in all the wars to the point of letting innocents die. There are rumors of discontent among the membership, but safety trumps getting dragged into a war for now.

            Overriders

            Home Planet

            None, they are nomads.

            Leadership

            Transformed Hard Mama

            Overview

Once the rebels of the Terminus, they are now the demons. Like hellish vikings, they are the stuff of nightmares for those in the Terminus. Unlike the other factions, their agenda is destruction and raiding. Driven on by Hard Mama, they swoop in on ships traveling the Terminus and aim only for the destruction they can bring. They can't be reasoned with or talked out of it. Like their leader, Hard Mama, they are now a force who desire only see the Terminus burn. Luckily, the group is only half a dozen riders, so their impact is limited.

            Post Fall History

During the battle, Hard Mama and her Overriders watched from a distance. They were content to let the attackers fight it out until they wore each other out. Once done, she would come in and claim the planet as her own along with the awesome power of the Doom Coil. The battle was fierce and all sides worse themselves out, but she wasn't counting on the planet becoming burning energy. Still, she thought she was protected because of her head band. To a degree she was correct. Instead of incinerating her, the energies drove her insane and engulfed her in a constant fiery glow. No longer caring about claiming the planet she flew back to her assembled group and fought all of them until only a few remained transformed into creatures as hellish as her.

In the initial battles that followed, they thrived on making passes through the battling ships indiscriminately assaulting them all with their now found wrath and energies. Eventually, those fighting realized they needed to have a truce when the Overriders appeared making them one of the few forces capable of uniting sworn blood enemies. Of course, once the combatants fought off the Overriders the turrets went right back to the enemies. Many have tried to reach out to the Overriders who now prey on any stupid enough to enter the Warpwold, but the people who go out always come back insane or not at all. Whispers spread throughout the Terminus of the faction and are now used as ghost stories to scare little kids into behaving. Many have tried to reason out their attack patterns, but all are equal victims and all are prey for the Overriders.

              The Carrion Queen Cult

              Home Planet

None, scattered across many factions and locations

              Leadership

              Emissary Jenko

              Overview

Merely passed around as a joke, "everyone and the Carrion Queen is coming to the Terminus", the cult's existence is doubted by most who hear about it. It has no centralized location or organizational structure known outside of the cult. While real, its members share a mystical bond allowing them to communicate across vast distances lead by someone who the members only know as Emissary Jenko. None have seen her, but all were recruited by her. Scattered, the cults goal is to let the Terminus inhabitants eat itself alive by infighting and flame the fighting if need be at times. Once everyone is weakened, they will summon their mistress the Carrion Queen.

              Post Fall History

Before Omegas fall, the Carrion Queen was only known as someone else in her own realm. Omega respected her and she respected Omega. When Omega was taken down, one of the many rumors was that the Carrion Queen provided the attacking forces passage. The claim was never substantiated and none of the attacking forces remain alive or sane enough to be coherent as far as anyone knows. In honor of the Carrion Queen, various creatures throughout the Terminus started feeling the call of someone calling herself Emissary Jenko. She kept herself hidden on express orders from the Carrion Queen herself, but was sent to the Terminus to stir fighting and cause all who might oppose her conquering of the Terminus to devour each other.

At first, real credence was given to the existence of the cult, but as more people got mocked for believing it exists and more drunkards started preaching it's existence the Carrion Queen cult became a running joke. If a munition dump blew up, it must have been the Carrion Queen cult worshiping its mistress. Children go missing, it was the Carrion Queen Cult messing with everyone. No one took it seriously and said it more as a joke to lighten tensions. In the shadows though, agents of the cult were stirring discontent and war influencing leaders to fight through any means necessary. It was the members themselves who started making the cult a joke. After all, it was better for everyone to know and think it was a joke rather than speculate and believe it a true threat.

                Furions

                Home Planet

                Silverwood

                Leadership

Max Muscle and Scarvos the Scarred

                Overview

Still on their own, despite the overtures of the Independent Alliance, they are known throughout the Terminus as a force for good standing up for the little guy and trying to fight back against the splintered forces of Omega. Not powerful enough for outright offenses, they are known for their hit and run tactics or hit and let others get out to be more precise. Leaderless after the death of Freedom Bird, they are lead by the to most prominent members left Max Muscle and Scarvos the Scarred. Unable to come to agreement on a proper battle plan to marshal what remains of their forces, they compromise on missions to further helping the various inhabitants of the Terminus.

                Post Fall History

Freedom Bird and his fellow Furions joined in the assault on Omega near the end, once they heard about it. It was almost too good to be true. Someone had managed to pierce the formidable defenses of Omega. Why they weren't included, they didn't know. They didn't care no one had invited them though. After all the millennia's of fighting Omega they were going to be part of the force that took down the tyrant if they were asked to help or not. Upon arrival, the battle was raging below on the planet and the orbit was getting filled with debris from the ships either arriving or fleeing that got caught up in the assault. Half of the Furions almost made it down to the planet in time to take part in the death of Omega. Unfortunately, they arrived just after lead by Freedom Bird. All of the landing group was annihilated as the planet erupted in flames. Horrified, but not deterred, half of the remaining Furions went down to secure the Doom Coil, but they too were destroyed. Max Muscle was going to lead the remaining Furions down, but was wisely held back by Scarvos.

More and more ships arrived to try and claim the Doom Coil as their own, but the Furions were spent. Three fourth of them were wiped out. So, unable to hold their own in a foolish fight to claim the Doomcoil, they retreated back to Silverwood. While others fought over how to fill the power vacuum, the Furions fought amongst themselves. Some, under the leadership of Max Muscle, wanted to fight and take the Terminus back for the Furions eventualy getting control of the Doomcoil. Others, under the leadership of Scarvos the Scarred anted to gather more strength and regroup before a big assault. At the same time, a newly formed alliance reached out to the Furions to bring them in only to be rebuffed as too focused on survival.

Unable to agree on a course of action, the Furions met in the middle. They would make war and not cower, but at the same time, the splintered factions of Omega would not be allowed to go unchecked. Max Muscle took up the lead of the military wing focused on raids and freeing prisoners. Scarvos the Scarred took up the lead on rebuilding the Furions for a major offensive push. Neither liked each other, but they had to work together or die.

                  Meridean Astroid Lab

                  Leadership

                  Physician Friendly

                  Overview

Consumed with the quest for knowledge of various anatomies and transformations without the moral compass to prevent the worst of atrocities, they take their orders from the disembodied brain of Physician Friendly. While not the most powerful of groups, they provide variations of drones and soldiers to whichever force can give them what they want. Usually what they want is more subjects for their experiments or some enemy taken out. Throughout the Terminus, the mere mention of being one of Professor Nice's subjects sends shutters down the spine of most creatures and disgust from those with any sense of a code. Still, they stay a force because someone needs to provide the armies and drones for the endless wars to fill the power vacuum.

                  Post Fall History

When Nihilor became an all consuming planet of death, Physician Friendly was in a lab off planet perfecting new drone technology for transferring consciousness from one person to the next or even clones made in a lab. He was so consumed with his work that he had to be alerted by one of his nurses about Omega's fall. Not one to leave a potential wealth of knowledge on the planet, he transferred his mind into a freshly grown brain in his lab. Sadly, depending who you ask, he didn't survive getting even 10 miles from Nihilor's surface before his body and his Nightmare Nurses were consumed by the planet.

Knowledge and skills like his though attract people far and wide. First, while the factions fought for power, students came. Students became assistants when former Annihilists and new factions came to him for custom drones. Money or credits not having any value he took payment for favors in kind. Curious about all the creatures in the Terminus, he asked for a wealth of specimens for his students to study and rebranded himself as Professor Nice. Once subjects went into his labs, few came out and those who did resembled nothing like they what they entered. A few were simply limbs sewn together without a torso. Word quickly spread and Professor Nice became even more feared as a place to go than Physician friendly ever did. Instead of drones, the subjects came out freaks.

Hidden from the rest of the Terminus, inside his labs the pet project only Professor Nice and a chosen few students knows about grows. In truth, he never gave up on the idea of taking Nihilor as his own planet. Controlling the Doom Coil and and the vast knowledge held on the planet is too enticing. The best way to get to it in his mind is to control an Omega clone who is created to do its creators bidding. So far, the experiments have failed and may never work. That isn't stopping Professor Nice from trying.

                        Background

Asking when Ka was born is like asking "What came first? The chicken or the egg?". Time has such little meaning to him that not even he knows his true timeline anymore. His was one of the first dimensions devoured by Omega. He fought to keep his domain, but all timelines and all actions pointed to being devoured, so he had to submit. No match for Omega or his forces, he kept a low profile in the Terminus while Omega reigned slowly building up his power base and assembling forces in the Warp Wold away from Omegas attentions. His ship itself became a sort of myth by those who inhabited the Warp Wold, but no one was sane enough to have enough credibility to spread it very far. He also found a baby space dragon egg and took it as his own to be his guard dog in a sense. Simple in nature, he bent it to his will and made it fiercely loyal to the point where he had his own gigantic space dragon as big as any capital ship at his command. Still, it wasn't enough to challenge to Omega in any scenario he tried.

After Omega's fall, he knew that he wouldn't be a major power, but he could be a power player and king maker for various factions. Several forces tried to take his ship and dragon as their own, but he was always one step ahead of them either not being in the expected spot or having a trap planned. Eventually the other inhabitants of the Terminus stopped trying to defeat him and let him be. Some of the factions tried to recruit him to their side, but he refused everyone. His ship was seen around Nihilor for a short while, but slowly crept away seemingly without doing anything. In reality, he tried every possible way imaginable short of him going close to the planet to master the Doom Coil. Upon all the millions of possibilities failing he decided to stew on it.

Through all his frequent victories and mastery of time, he developed an arrogance to rival the biggest egos of all time while still knowing his limits. A common target of his is the various factions to recruit them by coercion to follow him. He saw a future where with a big enough force he could take Nihilor, but getting that force was hazy. Something much more powerful than him, maybe entropy itself, was blocking him. So, he tries and is soundly defeated mostly by his own arrogance every time. One of the curses of his power is that each time line allows his foes to also reset their choices. As a consequence, he lets it play out for fun sometimes and to break the boredom that comes with immortality.

                        Character Sheet

Refer to Cosmic Handbook 3E Time Master.

                        Personality

Arrogant beyond belief, he could make everything impossible to defeat for his foes, but instead always gives a chance for them to get ahead a little. This is mostly done because he loves to see his foes squirm and is entertained by them thinking they are close to victory only to lose in the end. On the rare occasion he can't reset time quick enough and falls in a battle, he just comes back to life a short while later. In many ways, he is like a child who plays with his food instead of eating it.

                        Motivations

His ultimate goal is to gain mastery of the Doom Coil and thus the Terminus so he can rule all. He longs to be the master of space and time instead of just time like he currently is.

                        Ship

Ka's shipis a massive and heavily armored ship with the inner core being time dilated such that it can be any size or configuration. The external part is mainly for show and used for the machinery that powers the spherical drone ship creation.

                        Fido

Fido is Ka's pet space dragon, with the same stat block as the Cosmic Handbook 3E. Kept dumb on purpose, it was only trained to fight and devour Ka's enemies.

                              Description

Not content to build just drones, Professor Nice also experimented with fusing sentient creatures with machines by transplanting the minds of subjects into fighters. It was so succesfull and more powerful than any drone or AI powered force so it became a common request which was gladly obliged as long as the subjects came in still.
