  • A UK Campaign

I've been running a small face-to-face campaign set in the UK since Christmas. To help the players I write up the adventures afterwards and we fill in the period between sessions by Bluebooking (a sort of PBM extension) see https://wiki.rpg.net/index.php/Bluebooking.

I thought I'd share their adventures to date in London and Wessex. There have been four players in total: Banshee (a ghost possessed by a mystic), Chrono (a speedster who uses time control), Young Sam (a dragon/human hybrid) and Akira (Mystical psychic) who have now come together as The Balance.

Chrono and Banshee arrived from another alternate Earth first. By the time of their third adventure they had met Young Sam (who believed he'd been chosen by a Dragon) and then were joined by Akira only for Chrono to vanish (his player was no longer able to continue due to real world issues...)

They have faced Death Metal (Death Magnetic by a different name so one of my players couldn't easily identify her), members of the Cybertribe and a very different Labyrinth and Foundry. They have meet the Challenger-Wildeman Family (based on the 2e version of the Atom Family) and the descendants of several literary characters and a version of a character mentioned in these forums.

Their adventures can be found at https://mm3e.wordpress.com with episode 1 - 7 listed on https://mm3e.wordpress.com/guide-to-episodes/

Let me know what you think...

I might have to borrow some of this stuff like the HCP for my stories... just like you borrowed some stuff from me, sir. And I'm glad it's being put to good use!

Borrowed from multiple sources as I'm sure you are aware (and subsequently adapted to better suit my particular campaign background) - Re HCP that too is borrowed - from the superpowered series by Drew Hayes but altered to better match the type of training given to volunteer specials (part-time police officers in the UK).

      Hope you enjoyed?

Latest session from last night's game is now live on the website - https://mm3e.wordpress.com/2017/04/0...ndons-calling/

The players Characters meet the big bad, rescue the kidnapped people (well, some of them anyway) and meet Tangleweb (a variation of the Xion Studios character) next door to the Battersea Dogs Home...

Love to hear your opinion on the campaign so far.

          No comments, thoughts?

We've recently held our 9th face-to-face session and the players are starting to confront some of their characters back-stories. I'd love to hear what people think. For a full list of sessions and bluebooking write-ups go to https://mm3e.wordpress.com/guide-to-episodes/

Between sessions (generally held fortnightly) we have been doing a lot of bluebooking which is often very soap-opera'sh and is a way of filling out the characters of NPCs. Is this something a lot of other GM's do and if so, how has it changed your campaigns?

I'm curious to go through these myself, but this is my busy time of year. I've only heard of blue-booking from your campaign, so I'd like to see how that works out.

Just read Episode 8. That's an excellent alternative take on the Silver Storm. And an brilliant example of superhuman tactics.

Thanks for that. I'll pass on your comments to the players and yes despite this being the first superhero RPG they've ever played they do work together very well.

                  For anyone following this campaign;

Latest episode (from Monday night's game) is now posted on the http://mm3e.wordpress.com site - specifically at https://mm3e.wordpress.com/2017/05/1...e-walrus-said/

The players find themselves having a meet and greet with my take on the Looking Glass Gang whilst also facing maniacal clowns, a book golem, a sentient tree (returning soon as the Green Knight), a Shakespeare-quoting pink rhino, The Red Queen and a suite of mono-filament robotic cards, jam tart dopplegangers, an old enemy or two (including one who wanted to thank them) oh and the return of Abyss.

It saw two of the players try out some new powers (from experience spends) in new and interesting ways and includes my favourite line so far; "A fluffy cloud suddenly crashed into the ground and bounced off with a loud Bong and a “Sorry!” It was that kind of day."

It was also their first encounter with a Librarian (Lillian Sherman from Vigilance Press' Black Chapter supplement)... Oh and Puck makes a guest appearance.

It was definitely that kind of day... Hope you enjoy (we did!)

                    Re: A UK Campaign

Next face-to-face session is next Monday but in the meantime one of the player characters visits Dublin and learns about the origins of Abyss (https://mm3e.wordpress.com/2017/05/1...ing-genealogy/) and another investigates an amulet he picked up (https://mm3e.wordpress.com/2017/05/1...holly-the-ivy/) and discovers a gift and a curse.

Not sure if anyone is actually following this campaign but - how do other GMs deal with player character improvements due to PP spend? My players have recently been awarded some points and have started to upgrade their characters - now I like to roleplay any changes or increase in powers or skills within the game itself. In the previous face-to-face episode Mary roleplayed gaining an alternate identity (the glamour of a younger Mary) and the addition of "affect others" to her insubstantuality. This episode covered the addition of another power gained by Akira and a climax to an issue that has been outstanding since the first episode...

Warning: there was a lot of hero points gained and used in this session.

                        Re: A UK Campaign

I was wondering, would a registered hero be able to apply to be an anonymous elector?

In Britain, anonymous registration is available to people meeting certain statutory requirements where, if their name or address were listed on the electoral register, their safety would be at risk.

I reckon that a registered hero would be considered "at risk".

Any other person in the same household as a person at risk is also qualified to register as an anonymous elector. Their family for example.

betterwatchit, Totally agree about right to anonymity - I have always assumed that registration guarantees anonymity UNLESS they break the law in which case their sealed records can be opened by court order... This is my source for why that would work under British law - http://www.cps.gov.uk/legal/v_to_z/w...and_anonymity/ in particular sections 74 to 85 of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 subsection 4. "the person in respect of whom the order would be made has reasonable grounds to fear intimidation or harm if they were identified as assisting the investigation."

As for The Balance - they have finally visited the Library and are forced to deal with an assault by the Green Knight and the hybrid elemental/meta-human called Calypso (who turns out to be the kidnapped Angelique St. Marie from Episode 1 and like Young Sam a mystical hybrid). They also learn about the Scrolls of Ch’Andarra (a tribute to the champions adventure the Coriolis Effect).

                          Latest episode at: https://mm3e.wordpress.com/2017/06/1...ing-the-storm/

A couple of bluebooking sessions are currently ongoing whereby Mary returns to the BASEment to determine how to free Jeeves from his curse and Akira learns more about his ancestry...

                          Posting in a few weeks.

                            Re: A UK Campaign

Following the attack on the Library, the members of the Balance explore the Library, discover more about the curse on Jeeves, discover more about their family and have a discussion about shape-changing followed by an After-Dinner Conversation...

Three new bluebooking sessions listed on the website - go to https://mm3e.wordpress.com/guide-to-episodes/
and read 'French Lessons', 'A Life Changing Conversation?' and 'Jeeves, the Unseelie Sidhe & an After-Dinner Conversation'
                            amd finally 'Intermission revisited.'

                            Hope you enjoy.

Latest face-to-face session (with a continuing homage to the Coriolis Effect) in which the Balance travel to France, have a nice cuppa with Dr Avery and Dementia.

                              https://mm3e.wordpress.com/2017/07/0...ce-cup-of-tea/

Instead of the Black Enchantress the big bad is Lady Dementia - great grand niece of Banshee, assisted by Sam's Black Dragonkin. Cups of tea, hissy fits and the Ghost of Doctor Arcane all make an entrance in this episode - oh and the team meet the French Connection, le Nouveau Chevaliers de Paris...
