Re: Clever ideas for destroying buildings?

Right, but that whole section on damaging objects is a holdover from d20, where particular saves are very closely* monitored for what affects have those saves. It doesn't need to be here in this system, and causes problems like this one - why DON'T vibratory attacks hurt a wall? Why CAN'T I melt a wall? What rationale is behind that?

*Obviously this is the ideal, not necessarily the reality.

Vibration attacks make sense to hurt a wall. Poison attacks do not. Generally, walls should have Immunity: Life Support, and generally, they don't need anything beyond that. Most other descriptors ought to affect a wall, whether they target fortitude, or will, or toughness.
Vibration as a descriptor should hurt walls, sure. In the abstract.

But it's the base effect and the Affects Objects Extra that's going to determine to what degree (if any). If you "mental blast" has a concussive aspect to it, then you'll most likely need an array to build two effects: the Will save Extra and another slot for the concussive descriptor. You can't turn Extras off, so if it has Alternate Resistance: Will then it won't do anything to a wall.

Actually, lacking a Will save makes you immune to mental affects, not Will saves. So if that concussive affect is not a mental affect, then even if its resisted by Will, the wall could be affected by it (and auto fail its save against it to boot.)
