  • Deluxe Hero's Handbook Character Generator

I was looking at the Powerhouse Offensive Powers on page 81 there is a power called Density. It is stated that it is Growth 8(-4 Dodge & Parry, +8 Strength, +8 Stamina), Does Not Modify Size,Speed,or Skills: Protection 4. All of that for a low cost of 20 points. When I try to set it up I see it as a 28 point power. Am I wrong and just missing something?

Well Growth only cost 2 points/rank and Does Not Modify Size, Speed, or Skills is a +0 modifier for Growth. So that is 16 points+4 points for the Protection=20.

To be fair, I find Growth to be really unbalanced, since (in this case) you are getting 32p worth of STR and STA minus 8p of Dodge and Parry, plus and minus a few extra skills and a built-in non-Hero Point-awarding Complication for being too big and heavy, all for 16p (2p/rank). The +0 Density modifier that (I think) was introduced in the Power Profiles just makes it more unbalanced, since it removes the "too big" issue and clears out the minor skill changes, leaving the only balancing complication of being too massive.

By rights your GM should have you stuck outside small doors and/or breaking through floors on a pretty regular basis to justify the point break. When possible, I recommend buying the components separately and just getting a "Big Guy" complication so you can get Hero Points when the GM feels like challenging your size.

Errata, page 96: Stealth skill bonus exceeds power level limits. Rolling Awakened and Predator in combination with Avian or Arthropod produces a total skill bonus that is too high. Additionally Pachyderm in combination with awakened and Dominating or predator produces an athletics bonus that is too high.
