  • "Debut Issue" - Define a Superhero

No idea why this hasn't shown up on the board, or on either the Green Ronin site's news or the Mutants and Masterminds site, but they have a "Debut Issue" feature on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/GreenRonin/...type=3&theater) where they've given an image of a superhero and are asking for tips on the power and background.

Welcome to Debut Issue, the weekly event where we ask you, our fans, to help us design a new Mutants & Masterminds superhero. This character has no identity yet. But over the next few weeks, we'll be taking your suggestions and letting you vote on polls to help turn this illustration into a fully-realized team leader!

This week, comment on this post with what kind of powers you would want this character to have. Then, developer Crystal will sift through the responses and we'll post a poll to vote for the final decision!

with the prism motif and the blank looks on the crowd behind him, I'm thinking mind controller. not exactly a villain, but while this guy genuinely means well, his 'heroics' have a nasty habit of making things worse as he "takes charge"

Is it Superhero Pride Month again? Already? Wow, time flies...

I'm think he has some of light-based powers. Perhaps able to manipulate a broad spectrum of light (and radiation?). Maybe he can emit some kind of LASER from himself. Just off the top of my head here.

Re: "Debut Issue" - Define a Superhero

Most of the explanations on Facebook do seem to come back to some sort of "gay pride" thing, one way or another. I guess it's inevitable between Green Ronin's politics and the desire for more representation.

I do like Kreuzritter's suggestion and I'm tempted to post it to the Facebook post, except that I don't want to plagiarize.

I already posted an origin and power-synopsis for the character on their FB page, but I admit Kreuzritter's idea is a novel one, and picks up on the details of the crowd scene behind him-I thought of it as a hero standing amidst allies who had been afflicted by a villain, but the concept of a do-gooder whose powers target friends and foes alike is intriguing.

          All my best!
