  • Atlas of Earth Prime

The compiled Atlas of Earth Prime book has been released!

I'd have already grabbed it myself had I not been getting the other PDFs (I'm beginning to wonder if I should've waited) but for those of you who wanted to but haven't well now you have the complete edition!

*wry grin* I also find myself wondering if they're going to offer it in a cheap bundle in another few days. I've been bitten by that on my last few purchases...

I also wonder whether there's anything new, as with prior compilations.

In terms of new content, there's a whole chapter on UNISON who serve as the United Nations' superhuman branch.

Hm... I seem to remember that UNISON got a mention in the smaller Atlas PDF's, but I'll admit I don't remember if they got a section dedicated to them or not.

          Re: Atlas of Earth Prime

I bought all the individual entries, and thought they were of wildly variable quality and utility.

I'll still buy the compiled book just because I'm still up for supporting this game, and it will be far tidier to have just one file on my iPad.

Edit: So, bought it and a couple of comments for anyone on the fence about buying the compiled version.

It looks cleaner, the layout is essentially similar to the individual files with more attractive (to my eyes anyway) colours and adjusted headers.

In terms of added value, a couple of the characters who were shorthanded before have been upgraded to full stat blocks. There's also a brand new villainous Utopian character included as a rival to Sarlyn. There may also be other adjustments to text, but I'd need to give it a further read to know for sure.

There's some art added in, and some has been changed. Lady Mamba in particular has found a skilled plastic surgeon and a new love of botox.

The appendix is basically the UNISON chapter from Agents of Freedom, with stats updated to 3E (basically the same way that the Lost World Atlas section is basically lifted and updated from Worlds of Freedom). I don't have a massive problem with that, there's a lot of 2E content that's perfectly usable with the crunch updated, but it may be a factor for some people who already have the individual Atlas entries and Agents of Freedom.

Overall, the PDF is good value for a big book coming in at around 10c per page, which is perfectly reasonable. Its still a pick n' mix of quality on the individual chapters and could have done with a more coherent vision but there's a ton of gameable content, plot hooks, and characters in here. I'd solidly recommend it to people who didn't pick up the separate chapters (or picked up just a few), while I'd say its less essential for people who bought the separate files religiously like myself.

There's a little character key on the inside as well, telling you who everyone is. It's a really cute touch.

I have been looking forward to the collected, printed version of this book for some time. A luddlite when it comes to PRG publications, I almost exclusively prefer printed books and so have followed this book's development here by reading posts about various PDF segments as they were released. I will be a definite buyer for this print version.

I take it from the price they're not doing the special "everyone gets a big discount for a week as a thank you to the people who bought individual stuff"?

It's not a question of me wanting that discount. It's just that I already feel like I overspent my gaming budget recently and if I don't have to get this Right Now because of a deal I'd like to know.

I see that in the store this has moved from "pre-order" to "now available". Anyone get their copy in the mail yet?

I just called my FLGS today to check whether they had it, but they told me it wasn't released yet. On the other hand, Amazon lists it as "In Stock".

I just got mine last night, but I have a bit of an unfair advantage. That said, we know Alliance has them and can start fulfilling orders immediately, so you should be seeing them at home and on store shelves in the next few days and weeks.

Since you preordered you should be getting an email from Green Ronin when it's finally starting to ship with a tracking code you can click to see its progress. Just got my email for the preorder yesterday around 4 PM.
