  • Energy Master

So I've made a villain character who supposed to be a dynakinetic, like Behemoth from Worm, thogh I'm basing the actual character on Lucifer from Lucifer. I'm using Variable Descriptor to show me changing my energy type, and my GM is requiring me to have to experience an energy type before I can use it. I started with Light and Electricity, and have gotten Cold. My problem is that my sheet is staring to get cluttered with all the AEs I have right now on top of my other abilties. So i'm wondering if it would be better to do a Nested Array and have the Enrgy type as the AE with specific abilities granted under that energy type, like how Electricity gives me Move Object and Taser effect, but I can't use those when using Cold enery, but get something like Create and Weaken Toughness instead. Help please?

Nested Arrays are not a good idea. But I'm confused are you using dynamic arrays? Normally you can only use one power in an array at a time. So you would not have Move Object and Taser effect at the same time anyway. What determines when you can switch descriptors? It's kind of silly to spend the entire 1 PP on variable descriptor and to have the GM put additional limitations on it. (I don't know either of your sources so I don't know how they work.)

Even with that weirdness, just add a note note next each power in the single array that says "Can only be used with X" or group them under the array by descriptor. But nested Arrays are too easy to abuse. Just avoid them.

I think this is a perfectly good case for nested arrays, with each form having distinct abilities that are grouped together. When in Fire Form, you're stuck with your Immunity (Fire effects), Blast (Fire), Teleport (Medium: Fire), etc, and can't mix and match that with being able to use Burrowing from your Earth form, or Flight from your Air form. Nested arrays only tend to be abusive when they're used to let one player be just as good at each niche as their teammates, or they use them to get multiple cheaper AEs within an array.

He didn't say there were forms. If he meant alternate forms each having arrays, that's less of a problem. I thought he was putting an array directly into an array.

Yeah, I'm not using Alternate forms, just trying to clean up my Array. And I meant that the Electricity power nested array would have stuff like move object, and the Cold nested array would have create. I know how AE works, I'm just figuring it how to clean up my sheet.

I still good that it may be a valid use. But that is up to his GM. The rules don't prohibit it, but like anything else rules legal, the GM might have a different idea.
