Oh yeah, I forgot Kas could do that.

Unless we want to modify a vehicle large enough to carry all of us inside it or maybe have Jack produce an image of one for Pict to animate to use or just let Kas share his flight power with the non-flier (aka Otso) and we be on our way.

Do you guys know how tempting it was to do the anti-climactic thing, brief you on the UUB, and then not have you run into any threats along the way? I can picture the group on edge as they inch along, expecting an attack at any moment... The tension continues as they head home, anticipating an ambush. Even when they touchdown back in Vienna, they await an assault.

Soon, weeks go by with nary a sign of danger. Paranoia takes Magnitude first. Ursa is committed soon after that. Greystone begins sleeping in his uniform, while Blue Knight walks around in his armor--soul-weapon at the ready. Both begin drinking obscene amounts of coffee in a desperate attempt to stave off sleep. Then, one day, Presto attacks a little cafe down the road. "I knew it!" Greystone shouts, one eye twitching as he races to the scene. "I knew this couldn't be that easy!"

In this situation, the most strife-inducing move I could make may be to do nothing.

Okay, that's what I wasn't looking at. I was thinking more along the lines of Kas towing them behind him as he flies and was thinking that... even at 250 MPH, that's going to be insane--winds beating on them. Birds or bugs who don't get out of the way in time... You're right, sir! I apologize.

Also, if Kas and the group move all-out, they can be there even quicker. BK can fly faster, yes, and Greystone can fly if he wants to, but Otso... I'm eager to see McGuffin's take on how Otso handles flying.

True, but Magnitude's power will let the group get there much faster.

Yeah moving all out, Kas' flight is what, 4 times as fast? That's past the speed of sound, and can cover 3,000+ miles in a few hours. Gwyn, even faster-although you can only move all-out for a number of rounds equal to your con score, so for Gwyn, going by a round is 6 seconds, that's a minute, 48 seconds. I think.

Moving "all-out" would burn Kas out pretty quickly...though Otso could carry him, because technically, the way the power is written, since Otso gets flight, he can fly while carrying the less durable Kasimir with him. That's still only possible for Otso's Con score in rounds. Making double moves is a better idea, since you can move at an accelerated rate for as long as the GM allows it.

As for not being the fastest flier...Kas was never meant to be. He's the team bus. The current group contains only one non-flier, but there have been many instances where having that 30' radius sphere of shareable flight was pretty important. Push come to shove, Kas isn't the fastest, the toughest, the most flexible or the hardest hitting character in the group, but he's pretty comfortable in his niche. He's flexible enough to act solo comfortably and well-balanced enough to provide decent support capability in group situations.

If I'm not mistaken you can move all out equal to a number of rounds until you match your Con. If you try to exceed that you start having to do DC10 Con checks or become fatigued.
So it would be possible to move all out for at least a little while before dropping down to double moves.

Admittedly if you pushed it right to the limit before dropping down the GM would be well within their rights to request a DC10 check the next time you try to move all out without having actually taken time to rest since the last time.

Well anyway we want to play it is fine with me. If we're going to take a jet, I'm fine with it, though the likelihood of it landing and not being discovered is fairly remote. If we take a "Pict-Jet" doesn't that mean Pict has to come with us? It would suck if the jet disappeared once we were out of Pict's perception range or if something disrupted his concentration.

Hell, we can even take a commercial flight into Nigeria, Ethiopia or South Africa or something and go from there. It's all the same to me.

Mich, if you haven't run across it yet, this site is awfully fun and could be useful where Finn is concerned.

I'm not 100% sure what comparing relative flight speeds between pc's has to do with anything in our current circumstance however, unless Harry is volunteering to be team bus for the non-fliers. It's always a given that the faster fliers are going to have to slow down if the group is going to arrive together. The question at hand was "do we fly in under our own power or do we use some other transportation?". It was never a dick swingin' contest. Kas'll lose just about every one of those with just just about every pc in the group...I mean, he's not damage shifted and he just recently got Power Attack...and I really struggled with that as opposed to Set-Up or Teamwork or even another rank of Inspire...but the characters have enough solo adventures that I figured he shouldn't be totally geared as a support character.

Anyway, I'm not concerned with whether he can "fly faster, hit harder, be tougher, have every skill"...that's other people's issue, not mine. He does pretty much what he was designed for and inhabits a niche (move objects guy/team bus) with very little overlap in the group, so I could care less about dick swingin' contests when it comes to raw power.

                    Um...ok.

I was just pointing out speed as it connects to the distances involved. Gwyn might indeed want to get there first and scout out-and he can, that's all.

It's more a question of math-how fast, for how many rounds, how that translates into MPH and so on.

Well, I'm pretty certain both BK and Greystone could outfly Magnitude and Ursa if they chose to. As for scouting out the area...we're all going to look somewhat out of place. Honestly, I'm not certain how much Magnitude is going to be able to contribute to this little adventure. He doesn't speak the local language, (though French might be helpful), he doesn't know what anyone involved actually looks like (either Bacon or the villains) and he doesn't possess any extra sensory powers that would help track down the UUB camp.

Mostly he's good for making Ursa and (when we find him) Bacon able to fly without encumbering anyone else.

Well played Mich. ;} Backed Violet into a corner with no way to respond without coming out looking bad.

                        You win this round Rose

I'm pretty sure a housefly could outfly Ursa. Eh? Eh!?! Yeah, I'm trying to turn semantics into a bad joke... I'll show myself out...

Vienna to Kampala is about 3,500 Miles (it's a little less but bear with me) as a straight line.

If Kas picks up the crew and flies as a double move (which should be about 500 MPH) it'll be a seven hour flight there.
It'll be a long time to be in the air, but nothing that couldn't be made reasonable with a break or two along the way to eat and rest.

The crazy part is that this appears to be faster than taking a commercial flight by at least six hours minimum.

So if time is a concern Kas' flight is the best option.

I originally wrote more, but dumped it because I was monolouging and couldn't see Violet just sitting there taking it. It was more or less her insinuating that Violet had toyed with Finn's emotions in order to try and make Mike jealous, then coerced Wolf into getting rid of Rose.

I'm also having a difficult time with not having Sarah stop this. Violet and Sarah have acted friendly towards each other in the past--I could see Sarah standing up for Violet. I just don't want to turn this into hot NPC on NPC action. I don't wanna steal the scene from Violet.

Not that Sarah's ever been timid but I think by now most of the school would probably rather not get in between Violet and Rose when they get going.
