And I forgot to mention, I don't know who's responsible, you or T-man or whether it's a collaboration, but the visuals for the aura reading power are pretty hip.

So Durendal is really Voleur? And he's just gonna brag about all the powers he's stolen?

I love how silly that last one sounds.

Everything else sounds like your standard F.I.S.S. package. Flight, Invicibility, Super Strength... also I can turn into a bear. ;~)

Yeah, well assuming anyone has discussed what happened to Otso at all, then Kas knows who this is...and he allowed him to touch Rose. Urk. I'll wait for michuru to confirm that Kas might know who Voleur is before things get out of hand.

*sigh* And Lexus knocks out Gaspar as that team self-destructs. Ugh. Y'know, on the off chance enough students survive this little escapade I think Kas will let someone else take the lead next time.

Finally, poor Randy. I think his dad might be the most evil person the students have come up against yet... and that's saying something.

It's all Mich who is responsible for the visual descriptions of everyone's auras.

Plus I got a huge laugh out of Durendal, that guy's got some moxy that's for sure.

And he's touched both Kas and Rose, which has not gone well for the heroes in past encounters. I have the feeling that two words are going to be used in describing Kas' performance during this encounter...

                Epic. Fail.

Ah well, at last he'll be able to add more powers to his list of "what I can do".

                  [QUOTE=Michuru81;38820]
I can at least comment on others while waiting to get to my own.

ALLGEMEINES KRANKENHAUS (Current; NPCs: Civilians, Swords)
****dang, Mich, not pulling any punches with the brutality or horror of this set.

                  STEPHANSPLATZ (Magnitude; NPCs: Durendal, Thorn)
"Also, I can fly very, very fast. I am super-strong. I am all but unstoppable once I begin moving and immovable when I stop. I am impervious to 'arm. Oh, and I can transform into a bear."

                  ***uh-hunh, French super-hero.

PRATER (Blue Knight; NPCs: Catargi, Felsic, Mezzanine, Ogre)

******I still think it's that young woman, somehow. Should be strait-up at least.

SCHÖNBRUNN PALACE (Shiver; NPCs: Diamond Dust and Larrikin)

"Wha'ja lookit dat? You mus' be Joseph Cahan's brat, eh?" Out of nowhere, a silvery disc appeared in the air, and out stepped an older man in a bowler hat. "You any be'uh than your old man, or do you scream like a woman when you're dyin', too?"

******Okay, a little thrill of excitement went through me at this one. Though this is not the ideal set for Skew to face off against.

KUNSTISTORISCHES MUSEUM (Greystone; NPCs: Candyman, Maze, Pict)
Blackguard and Caballero. They had pulled Blackguard and Caballero.

******This should be a most interesting encounter.

HUNDERTWASSER HOUSE (NPCs: Fiore, Gae'bolg, Kiln)
"Had," said Robor. "Randy had three little sisters."

****** uhg.... horror dial to 11.

                  JOSEFSTADT (Eiron, Fey, Lluvia, Manticore)
Manticore knocked Lluvia out with a right cross to the face.

*****We weren't thinking straight on this one. Our bad.

NVAE: HALLWAY (Newton, Niloticus, Pachyderm, Sprite, Ursa, Warder)
they would have to go through him first.

****** I'm glad you're continuing to show the places where no PCs are.

                    1) It works.
                    2) It's sort of a massive "up yours" for Rose to embrace what was meant as an insult.

Yup! In my eternal quest to provide better villains, I thought this would make for a cool bad guy: the villain is actually a hero. He's not pretending--he's really a champion of justice--a paragon of peace! He's beloved. He'll become France's own Superman... and only you guys know the truth about how others have to suffer to let him be that great. He's doing a lot of good in his corner of the world... but at the cost of screwing up other people's lives.

Needs of the many, and all that.

I considered having him say it that way: "I can fly, I'm invulnerable, I'm super-strong... I can tear into a bear for some reason..."

In hindsight, I wish I had saved the bear bit for later--let everyone think Durendal was a decent guy until the reveal that he can also turn into a bear. Suddenly, "Durendal is Voleur!?!"

No one has had the opportunity. Kas came back to this dimension, went to show himself to the city, fought some mages, came back to the school long enough to divvy everyone up, and now we're here. I don't even think he's been made aware of the fact that Otso and Viktor can't stop using their powers.

*sigh* And Lexus knocks out Gaspar as that team self-destructs. Ugh. Y'know, on the off chance enough students survive this little escapade I think Kas will let someone else take the lead next time.
I blame Gaspar. Dude has terrible timing.

Finally, poor Randy. I think his dad might be the most evil person the students have come up against yet... and that's saying something.
This scene would have been better if Manintights were still around. He gave me the whole "dad tried to kill uncle in a ritual thing" (he even gave me the setup of dad being distant from the kids--as if he didn't want to be too attached to them), and I added the rest. I can only imagine how MIT would have responded to the revelation that dad sacrificed the sisters for more power.

I've been pretty eager to get to this, and was wondering who it would be who ended up with him. I was dreading Martin going here (as that would make for a really short conversation).

Actually, at least Kas' is safe.

In raw game terms, if he's going to use his powers, he has to do so right then and there. I'd make a power check, you'd make a save, and we'd see what happened. As that didn't happen, you don't have to worry: he didn't take Kas' powers. Just because he's touched someone once won't let him call up their powers whenever he wants--he has to hold them.

When the idea hit for Cleave, I got very excited. I hope to get a lot of mileage out of him (you'll see), and wanted to really paint the picture that this guy is a villain of the worst order.

At this point, process of elimination would agree with you. You know where Cleave, BG&C, Robor, Haboob, and Skew are: the only ones left are Ogre and the Vitesse brothers. One is at Kas' location, and the other is a rampaging monster.

I like the idea of Juozas being the one who pulled this fight, buuuut I also have a hard time seeing Juozas giving a crap here.

KUNSTISTORISCHES MUSEUM (Greystone; NPCs: Candyman, Maze, Pict)

I was pretty excited back when BK was going to go with Jack. BK vs. BG would be so awesome.

HUNDERTWASSER HOUSE (NPCs: Fiore, Gae'bolg, Kiln)
"Had," said Robor. "Randy had three little sisters."

I take this as a pretty high compliment. I'm glad Randy ended up here, but again: the moment would be so much cooler with a PC.

                    JOSEFSTADT (Eiron, Fey, Lluvia, Manticore)
Manticore knocked Lluvia out with a right cross to the face.

That's what I thought when it came up. I expect Kas was thinking this would help heal Gaspar's soul.

In all fairness, the stuff happening in them has the potential to help change the game.

                        That's fine. He's one in a million.

Over in Story Hour, I started a story called Armada. While the idea of a post-Apocalyptic Oubliette is awesome and I want to run with it, my intention was each chapter would show a different dimension fending off against the titular Armada... which even money says will eventually make its way to you, because I'm a jerk.

Here's one of several unfinished chapters for that story (I have story ADHD at this point):

Felix reacted. He wrapped his arms around Karlina and squatted down. As he sprang up, his feet left the ground. As the couple deftly dodged the shuttle that slammed into the park, he clung to her tightly—tightly, but not too tight. He knew his strength, and knew not to squeeze her with all his might, just as he knew not to evacuate her at his top speed.

It was moments before he landed. Miles away from the city, he could hear again. She was screaming now. Karlina was terrified, and that saddened him. It wasn’t the sudden appearance of the mammoth warship that spontaneously filled the skies over Vienna that frightened her, nor was the deafening whirl of its engines the catalyst behind her fright. No, she hadn’t understood what was happening: she met the ship’s appearance with confusion. Her fear was born from the revelation that the man she’d been seeing was a Neo-Sapien.

Felix Infinity was a Neo-Sapien, who had inherited his powers from his parents: from his father, he had the gift of flight, speed, strength, and durability; from his mother, the curse comprehension. Felix only had to look at something to grasped how it worked—he instinctively understood the inner workings of everything and everyone.

Felix knew that, right now, his girlfriend feared him more than she did the mysterious attack they now faced.

                        “You—you’re a…?”

Felix nodded glumly. He hadn’t told her yet—he was working up to it. He’d hoped to tell her today, but doubted that he’d find the courage.

Karlina backed away slowly, and Felix sighed. “Get to safety,” he said. “I’ve got a city to save.”

Crouching down once more, the twenty-three-year-old rocketed back into the sky, flying towards the ship blotting the sky with its hideous visage. He could have plunged his fists out front and picked up speed. He could have rammed it. He was impervious to harm, and colliding with the ship would do more harm to it than him. Instinctively he knew, however, that such an act would help to bring the ship crashing down, destroying Vienna, and killing hundreds of thousands of people.

No, he couldn’t bring the ship down—he had to make it leave. It had appeared suddenly, it should be able to disappear suddenly too.

As he flew, Felix could see more shuttles like the one that had nearly squashed them. They had created massive craters where they landed, and men were climbing out, setting up equipment. Felix landed and glared at the pair of men: one was tall and lean; the other was mustachioed and muscular. At the sight of him, both men abandoned their project and charged him.

Felix watched as the tall man summoned a sword from thin air. It wasn’t too impressive: his father could do something similar. “All Nephilim can conjure a soul-weapon,” his father had long ago told him. “Mine is a whip, but the others could be anything—a spectral sword, staff, spear… Whatever weapon most resonates with their essence is what they will call.”

This man, however, was not a Nephilim. His eyes gave him away: missing was the tell-tale sign of flaming eyes; those same solid, heatless flames did not compose his sword, but rather solid steel swept through the air. The sword was an ornate blade with nary a nick along its edge. It looked newly forged, and led Felix to believe that it had never been used in combat.

He would have thought the man inexperienced, were it not for his stance. The movement of his feet—the way his fingers closed around the hilt… It all served to announce that the man was an expert swordsman, and not to be taken lightly by anyone whose skin was breakable.

Felix let the man bring the sword down over his chest. It cut his shirt, but not his flesh. Curiously, the man let go of his sword then, and the sword continued to hang in the air. As he summoned a second sword, his partner lunged for Felix.

His body was covered in quills, like a human porcupine.

He tried to tackle Felix—to pull him to the ground. Felix simply grabbed the man by the neck and threw him twenty meters away. He looked to the other man then—the swordsman—and regarded him the way anyone else would a fly buzzing about. He watched as the man continued to slash at him, let go of his sword, and summon another. Each sword hung in the air, moving of their own volition. He understood then: if he could summon an infinite number of animated blades, why not do it? The man’s power let him summon a sword one at a time and animate it by swinging it.

Felix reached up and grabbed the man’s neck, then flew straight into the air. Two hundred meters above their shuttle, Felix regarded the man with a warning glare. The man responded by summoning yet another sword, and swinging it down into Felix’s arm.

Shaking his head sadly at the man, Felix let go of the swordsman and raced him to the ground. Under him, Felix thrust his fist skyward and into the plummeting man’s spine.

Bucking the swordsman’s corpse off his knuckles, Felix walked over to the machinery the two men were unloading.
Long story short? The Armada are an army of inter-dimensional pirates. They recruit from the rogues of the dimensions they visit. One chapter actually has a hero taking on the team of Paragon and Paragon. Basically, in their travels, they have picked up a couple versions of some villains--Cleave among them.

You can kill this Cleave, but I'll just make more.

Three-fourths of my job is finding nice ways to tell ad execs to screw themselves. Every newspaper in the area calls daily about a new deal they're running. Every middle school, junior high school, high school, and college calls about some sports program or poster or T-shirt. Every greasy spoon is redoing their menu and wants to feature us. They are the second most annoying thing I deal with on a daily basis. The only thing worse than them are realtors.

There is a special place in hell for realtors.
