"Works for me." He tapped his comlink and gave Otso and Jack a hearty wave.

"Stay in touch. And be safe, ya?"

          [Jack Rexroth]
          HP: 1

Kas listened to Otso's idea and nodded thoughtfully. "Perhaps we could do both. Otso and Jack could enter the hospital as aides...volunteers come to assist Doctor Bacon and Harry and I could take up a position about a thousand feet up and monitor through our commlinks. That high up, it's highly unlikely anyone will spot us and if they do, without binoculars, it's even more unlikely they would recognize us as human beings."

"The only reason I mention this is.."
He points to his sightless eyes. "...it would take a hell of a liar speaking to one hell of an idiot for anyone to believe I've come to assist a doctor."
Jack's head tilted to the right for a moment as he listened to Kas. He had a point about being a blind assistant, which is one reason why he lead a group on his own. "Works for me."

Gwyn rolled his shoulders, resisting the urge to swat at nearby flies.

            ROW 64
The phone on her desk started to ring. "Applebottom," she said upon answering it. She pinned the receiver between her head and shoulder, continuing to type out her reply to the minister.

"We've a pair of Neo-Sapiens flying up the side of the building. Get on it."

"Bloody 'ell," Applebottom growled, hanging up the phone and dialing another number. "Tell your partner to get back 'ere. Vauxhall's might be under attack." It was an overstatement, but it would spur Hall and Oates to action. Hanging up once more, the middle-aged woman rose up from the seat she was filling and strode out into the hall. "All right," she called, "we're under 'igh alert. MI6 says we've two SPBs flying up the side of the building. Who 'as visual?"

"I do," said a nervous, young man, summoning up the feed from the security cameras on their main screen.

"Alexander Murphy," said another agent, "one of the students at Will's daughter's school."

"It's her bloody boyfriend," said another.

"Tighten security on the chief's dorm," Applebottom commanded. "What else do we know?"

"Si--uh, ma'am," said the nervous agent. "I have video of their arrival."

"I am Martin Curie. I was last here on Monday, October 27, 2008, at 10:37 in the morning. Currently, my companion on zat visit, Mira, is under a specialized form of mind control to free ze woman 'eld on zese premises. She'll be 'ere in moments. I'm 'ere to 'elp minimize damage to zis building and to 'er, and I'm coming in wiz Alex Murphy. You 'ave about six seconds to do your background check."

"A whole six seconds," groaned Applebottom. "'Ow generous. All right, 'oo 'as eyes on Curie now?"

"They went into the side of the building. They're in the top floor, ma'am. We're looking for them now."

A door opened. A soaking wet Hall and Oates came into the room. "I need to get to the roof."

"Well, there's no water on the roof now, is there?" asked Oates. "You want the river? I can get you to the river."

"No, I'd 'ate to keep you from being useless."

"Ma'am?" asked the nervous agent. "Curie and Linden were brought by Chief Arn-."

"To meet Abigail &$^# Cottingwood! I bloody well know that! The 'ole bloody unit knows that! Get me something I don't know, Billingsley!"

"I have visual!" another agent exclaimed. "Murphy and Curie are near the rooftop access and Curie has morphed into Cottingwood."

Applebottom made a face as she looked to the big screen. "Oh."

            "Linden is incoming."

The woman thrust a finger at Hall. "Go magic up some barriers or some $#&! around the dorms. No one gets in. Understood?"

            Hall immediately hurried off.

Turning on his partner, Applebottom grabbed the man by the tie. "I don't bloody care if you dump me in someone's balcony 'ot tub, I want to be able to get eyes on Linden. Now."

"In theory, if the Curie boy were to transmute enough water-"

            "Shut the 'ell up, Billingsley."

            "Yes, ma'am."

Pulling Oates along by his tie, Applebottom lead the way outside, into the fountain. "Do the thing," she commanded him.

Oates put a hand on the back of her head and shoved her into the fountain. A moment later, her head broke the surface of the River Thames. Suddenly, she was thankful she wore her hair short--she didn't have to worry about it being in her eyes. Instead, her only concern was the water.

"Bloody 'ell... This never would 'ave 'appened on Gus' watch..."

As her vision came back into focus, she searched for the SIS Building. She looked to the sky and groaned at the sun's placement behind the building. It was hard to see... but she could see. She could vaguely making out the silhouette of Mira descending.

That was all she needed to use her powers. That was all Applebottom needed to make someone combust.

VAUXHALL CROSS: TOP FLOOR (Current and Fluxx; NPCs: Sprite)
On the top floor, Fluxx adopted Abigail's appearance. Now, they needed to ensure Mira found them.

With Lex knowing the plan, he moved to have Lex go meet her on the roof...

Jakob leaned in. "I like watching you dance. The way you move... it's mesmeric."

Violet's blush deepened. "I just do what feels right. You should dance with me. It's more fun with a partner."

"I'd like to dance vith you," Jakob said as the cake was set down. "I'd like to do anything vith you." He grinned dopily... and then looked alarmed when their server set down two fresh drinks and a slice of black forest cake with two forks.

"Fräulein?" Jakob asked. "Wir nicht bestellt..."

"Komplimente des hauses," she said before continuing with her rounds.

"Well, this is splendid," Violet said. "Do you come here often? Maybe one of the staff recognized you."

"Nein," Jakob said, perplexed by the treat. "I think the last time I vas here, I vas a little boy..." He shrugged, and took one of the forks. Before eating, he tapped the tines of his forks against Violet's. "Cheers," he said, grinning cheekily at her.

As they ate and drank, their conversation turned to Mat. Jakob told her all about meeting him in kindergarten--on not knowing about his autism until years later, and even then not understanding what it meant. "Mat vas always just Mat to me. I didn't matter vat anyone said he was--that vasn't vat he vas. It didn't really define him.

"He struggles vith so much, though... Honestly? Growing up vith him? I think it's the reason I vant to vork vith kids like him, you know? Like a special needs teacher."

A pair of men took the table next to Violet and Jakob. Both were wearing the same dark green overalls, with a white armband...

BOMBO (Blue Knight, Greystone, Magnitude, Ursa)
As Greystone and Ursa strode up to the front entrance, Ursa spotted another Caucasian: leaning against the building, was a short, portly man. He had long, stringy hair with a baseball cap over it. He wore a dingy white shirt under his tactical vest. His legs were stuffed into baggy cargo pants worn under his beer belly. In his hand was a cigarette which, fortunately, he was more interested in that the New Vindicators.

It was Larry Harrison, the first member of the UUB Ursa had met, and if he saw and if he remembered them, it was likely that no one would buy their story about working with Bacon...

Violet nodded along with Jakob's assessment of Mat. "He's so sweet. I can't imagine him any other way. And it's wonderful that you want to help kids who have more trouble with it than he does. I think you'd be great at it." She smiled warmly, oblivious to anyone else at the cafe.

Martin had seen Mira flare with fire around herself before, but he looked again to see it [presumably] wasn't the normal color she produced. He struggled to remember if her powers rendered her immune to flames as well but he didn't recall it ever coming up in their working together.

He winces as the flying woman conflagrates.

Since he didn't see any projectile he had to assume it was a neo-sapian ability. "Lex, someone did zat to 'er. I don't know if it will sway Mira's course or even 'ave an effect on 'er but I need to stay 'ere to enact ze ruse in case she continues wiz 'er promise. Could you look around to see 'oo might be focused on Mira. Try to persuade zem not to interfere, wiz words if possible. It could be some twitchy Londoner for all we know."

"By the way guys," he says addressing the air, "my comm channel is currently set to 71.8 Mhz if we want to coordinate efforts." he offers. "Is Mira's immolation of your doing?"
he asks the building, hoping they did, indeed, have cameras and audio.

There was a clatter behind her, followed by Mike exclaiming, "Rose!?!"

He watched as Jakob went down. Rose was the next to fall. Then Violet and Mike. <<"You know what to do.">>

His companion rose up and raised his arms. <<"Attention, please!">> He flashed everyone his a license. <<"I'm with the Agency for Health and Food Safety! Sure enough, most of the cafe's patrons vacated the building.

Only the other members of Crux remained inside.

<<"The girls are the most dangerous,">> the youngest one said. <<"Be careful with the brunette--she's the one who took my hand. The blonde controls plants. Gag Frenchie--he can control your thoughts if he can sing or hum. Don't let him make any music.">>

The men of Crux moved to start restraining the unconscious teens, but their one-armed brother continued to stare down at Jakob.

If I can make her believe her that I, Abigail, escaped... Lex, do you think you can help me convince Mira? say you rescued me and you need her to fly me to safety? Or do you think it best just to stay out of it? I just need to get close enough, I'll work to sedate her. That means not firing at her, please. Just let her get to the roof. If our deception doesn't work..." S/He pauses and swallows hard. "Lex and I will subdue her." S/He looks for a nod of agreement from Lex.
