      Ursa
      HP: 2

Otso sighed as he navigated the halls of the school on his way to meet with the others. He'd had a small window of time between changing into his uniform and leaving for the mission and he'd elected to spend it talking with Beatrice. She had been less than happy about the news of him going to Uganda once more, and he'd agreed. The place brought up bad memories, but he'd argued their mission was important and that they'd be going in better prepared this time. He'd held off on pointing out that she herself had only just returned from a mission for the school. They'd instead spent the rest of their time talking about how their days had gone, with the feeling of emptiness in the classrooms after the exile of part of the student-body coming up more than once.

NVAA, SOCIAL STUDIES [LEX] (Lex and Martin; NPCs: Eve, Gaspar, Mahdy, Peter, Ryabko, Ryuunosuke, Svetlana, Yuusuke)
Lex shoved a mop into Ryuu's hands, snarking, "Hey, if you're going to drool all over the floor you can clean up after yourself."

Ryuu looked at the broom as though he had just been handed some sort of alien device he had never before encountered.

Putting him out of mind, Lex started to stack chairs. "Yeah, I get you man, but that was an alternate dimension where Kas was evil murderer type--the same Kas who's running around here trying to save the entire world. No telling what this Xun guy is like here. He could be anything from a pacifist to pure evil here, right?"

        "I guess," Gaspar said, pouting.

Lex smiled and made his eyes glow with electricity. "What's the big deal with the eyes and weapons thing? I can do both those things too, and I'm only mostly evil, ya know?"

"I dunno." Gaspar chuckled nervously. "You know what the weird part is? The first time I ever saw Ellen use her powers? You know how the flames come out their eyes and then go up? First time I saw it, I was... I was some ways away. For a second, all I saw were the tips of her flame showing over her head. It looked like devil horns, you know?" The Spaniard shook his head in disbelief. "Yeah, first time I saw her use her powers, I thought she was a demon."

"Anyways, yeah, we can keep an eye open if you're worried."

"Maybe you're right. I mean, our Kas isn't evil, so... maybe this guy is on the level."

NVAA, SOCIAL STUDIES [MARTIN] (Lex and Martin; NPCs: Eve, Gaspar, Mahdy, Peter, Ryabko, Ryuunosuke, Svetlana, Yuusuke)
Peter continued shaking his head. "Nyet spasibo. That won't be necessary." He turned to Martin then, with the glimmer of a sad look in his eye. "I'm sorry, Martin. Thank you for the offer to help, but-"

"Woah, Peter," interrupted Martin, "okay, okay, we are going to try wiz inanimate objects first. If zat does not work we will zink of somezing else. Please let us see it in action first before deciding anyzing. Sorry Svetlana, I jumped too quick. Please Peter, let us at least try."

Peter nodded glumly. "Spasibo," he said. He led him away from Svetlana before continuing. "I know that Svetlana can heal from almost anything, but my powers... They did not simply harm my father, Martin: they killed him. If I use them and kill Svetlana right away? She can't heal from that.

"The same goes for you. The energy I give off could instantly end your existence. I'd rather not have anyone else's blood on my hands."

NVAA, SOCIAL STUDIES [EVE] (Lex and Martin; NPCs: Eve, Gaspar, Mahdy, Peter, Ryabko, Ryuunosuke, Svetlana, Yuusuke)
Lex shoved a mop into Ryuu's hands, snarking, "Hey, if you're going to drool all over the floor you can clean up after yourself."

Ryuu looked at the broom as though he had just been handed some sort of alien device he had never before encountered. With a shrug, he connected the head to the floor and began swinging it back and forth as though it were a broom.

It won a chuckle from Eve. "You have to get it wet, first."

Ryuu shrugged. "That shouldn't be too difficult: I've never had trouble making anything wet." He tossed her a sly grin and delighted in seeing her blush. "How are you enjoying Tokyo?" he asked.

"The school is very nice," Eve said. "It's very... different."

"And the rest of the city? Where all have you been?"

Eve looked away. "Oh, I... I've mostly stuck to the campus."

Ryuu let the mop drop to the floor. "What!?!" he asked in faux astonishment. "You're telling me you... you haven't seen the Meiji Shrine--the Imperial Palace? The view from the top of the Skytree!?!"

Eve tucked her hair behind her ears. "I'm, uh... just trying to get acclimated."

"You're telling me that you haven't seen Shinjuku Gyoen?"

"I... I don't even know what that is."

"It's a national park," Ryuu offered. "A spawling garden with thousands of cherry trees. You picked the right time to come to Tokyo: late March is when those trees are beginning to bloom. Right now, Shinjuku Gyoen is an amazing hanami spot. It is easily the second most beautiful thing in this city."

        "And what's the first?"

        Ryuu grinned. "You."

Eve's face turned beat red. "I... suppose it would be a shame... to miss an opportunity to see this."

        "I could take you."

        "I'd like that," Eve said.

        "How about now?"

Eve looked around. "B-but, aren't we supposed to be cleaning?" she sputtered.

Ryuu rolled his eyes. "Ryabko-chan lives to clean!"

Ryabko didn't look up from wiping down the desks. "Stop goofing around and get to work, Ryuu."

Ryuu locked eyes with Eve. "The faster we get this place clean, the faster you and I can go to the gardens, right?" The boy bent down and picked up the mop. He plunged it into a bucket and went about cleaning the room like a pro.

Lex nods, "Maybe. Maybe not. Who knows, right?"

          He watches
Ryuu out of the corner of his eye, but since he wasn't getting 'handsy' and Eve wasn't telling him off he just let it go. There was a chance they'd all be there for quite some time, so if Eve wanted a boyfriend..

He shrugged and went to find himself a broom. It wasn't like Eve couldn't break Ryuu in half with her bare hands if she needed to.

He turns his attention back to Gaspar with a big grin,
"Might want to watch the devil talk stuff, they're already flinging crap at us on the news. Say that too loud and they'll start photoshopping on some horns on us."

          He smirks,
"Of course now I'm wondering... what would look best? Goat horns, bull horns or the big curled ram horns? I think I could rock the Ram horns."

              Magnitude
              Kasimir Flaegler
              HP 3

Kas waited patiently through the briefing, knowing he'd have to depend on the others to actually point out specific enemies...at least those that didn't make themselves obvious. Despite his enthusiasm for having a chance to bring General Basenji to justice, he was aware their primary mission was that of rescue. Unlike Otso or Harry, he had no clue as to the historical significance of their target, but he must've been impressive in his day. Kas really should increase his knowledge of general history. He should do alot of things really, but almost all his efforts were dedicated to being a more effective hero.

After the recent issues with Durendal he had to wonder whether if it was worth it.

Shelving those thoughts for another time, he got as complete a description as he could of the known super-humans in the UUB from Newton. He'd be lucky to recognize them if they didn't announce themselves, since features Newton described would only be of nominal use to him. His perception just didn't work that way any longer.

Once that was done, he went to his room to grab some civilian attire suitable for Africa. A loose linen shirt, durable pants (fortunately he had a fondness for BDU style trousers) and boots. He was almost tempted to see if he could find a place to rustle up some jodpurs and a pith helmet, but that would be a little on the nose. Instead, he grabbed a couple pairs of sunglasses (dark, not mirrored) and his foldable cane. There were times when his obvious disability was the greatest possible disguise. You could tell people Magnitude was blind, but the emotional response to a blind person was nearly always the same...vulnerable...weak. It worked to his advantage to be underestimated. A broad brimmed hat was a good idea, since he was fair-skinned.

The last thing he packed for his civilian guise were several kerchiefs to tie around his neck. They would serve the purpose of sweat rag, a way to mop his face when soaked with water and most importantly, to cover the hanging scar on his neck. Intellectually, he knew the scar shouldn't embarrass him, but it did.

He had to remember to speak with Jack about making certain one of the powers he geared up was a polecat's musk. This 'Bluster' character could easily be a mind controller with some sort of vocal component and he wanted to be ready for him.

"Well Kas, that should do it." He said to himself. Zipping up his duffle bag, he went to join the others.

                The Blue Knight

Gwyn left the school grounds, making the brief stroll to the nearby Bank Österreich, a bundle of Euros in his billfold. A few of the tellers recognized him, he was in to do what he always did, exchange currency. Only this time he had something a little more unusual in mind. Luckily they actually carried Ugandan Shillings and he walked out with what sounded like an insane amount of money, but he was reassured was not that much, relatively speaking.

Then he walked into town and picked up some sun-screen and bug spray-two things Gwyn had very little experience with in Wales-before returning to the school.

Once there he dressed in a pair of white pants that for the life of him, he could not remember why he had bought them, a light yellow V-neck and of course, his usual sunglasses. He figured he should wear a hat but he didn't. Gwyn was too vain about his hair.

Meeting the others he smiled a bit and pulled out one of his new banknotes. "What yew wanna bet this ain't gonna be easy as finding Bacon, walking him back to the plane and taking off? Five thou shillings say we run into trouble of some kind, ya?"

"And your boyfriend follows you around because you dress like a tart and wave your knockers at him. If I wanted to act like a slag and take him up to my room right now, he'd be right behind me."

After they finished cleaning the school, the boys headed down to begin the laundry. "All right," Yuusuke said, "Ryuu and I will work on sorting. Peter and Martin can get the washers ready. Mahdy, Gaspar, and Lex? You three are folding what we hung out to dry yesterday."

It didn't take them long at all. Once they had finished folding, it was time to hang what they'd just washed. "Mahdy will deliver everything," Yuusuke said. "Thank you, everyone."

Ryuu nearly ran from the room--it was the most energetic the Vienna group had ever seen him.

"All right," Gaspar said to Lex, "it's still early in Vienna. What do you want to do?"

Peter, meanwhile, cupped a hand on Martin's shoulder. "So, what do you have in mind?" he asked.

"The only reason anyone sits with you at lunch is to watch the geek show. They can't wait to see how much you're going to stuff in your gob each day."

                    "Says jiggle jowels!"

"And your boyfriend follows you around because you dress like a tart and wave your knockers at him. If I wanted to act like a slag and take him up to my room right now, he'd be right behind me."

"Oh, honey..." Rose was a master of faux sympathy. "Maybe if you weren't so flat-chested, he blorthax." Rose's eyes bulged at the realization of what had just happened. "Inbedemba lubby-yurp gorn demigh yoop?"

Sarah couldn't contain her laughed. "Derfid vabulley-" She cut off, realizing whatever had just affected Rose was affecting her too.

                    "Mondibois jarbley darf!" shouted Lexus.

"Me," Finn said, glaring back at everyone. "I'm using my power right now. No one in this room can understand anyone except me. I can understand all of you, and you can understand me!"

                    "Varnack!" Mike protested.

"Shut up, and listen!" Finn snapped. "Last period, I had composition with Mister Sonck! Elle used to be in that class! So did Anne! They're gone, now! They're gone... Anne was sent to Tokyo, and Elle's... Elle's apparently working with the terrorists who killed Alina and Cornelis--the people who possessed Matt and made him shoot up a classroom and you people want to fight with each other? Over what? Who dresses better or who's prettier or more popular?

"A week ago, three separate groups of nutcases came here intending to kill us or our headmaster or... or whatever... Do you all think maybe that's what we should be a little more focused on? Not this petty stupid stuff?"

There was a knock at the door. Everyone looked up to see Miss Zlatkovski and Miss Catargi standing there.

                    "Sorry," Finn said. "I'll stop."

"Thank you," Catargi said before making her way back to her own classroom.

                          [Jack Rexroth]
                          HP: 1

Following the end of the meeting with Newton, Jack headed back to his room. It didn't take him too long to put on his school uniform followed by a pair of jeans and a t-shirt and topped off with one of a leather vest, he saw no point in not being ready in case things went sideways (like a lot of these kind of missions did in his mind) and made sure he placed a lighter and a pack of cigarettes in the left side front pocket and some money in his right inside pocket.

After that he went out to the bank where he had an account and exchanged it for Ugandan currency, not that he really understood the exchange rate and was irritated when he got back a lot of coins, but figured it'd be a good idea to have some local money even if he hated carrying change even if he had no clue how Ugandan's money value worked. On his way back to the school Jack made sure to stop by a couple spots he knew the streets kids he checked on once a week and as usual gave them a large handful of Euros each (which is where his change always ended up going once he'd stopped by the bank to convert it to paper money that is). He talked to them too, making sure they were being safe, getting food, watching out for each other, trying to help them without being too pushy about it because he knew that if he pushed too hard then they'd avoid him.

Then realizing he was cutting it close Jack hurried back to the school just before the time they were supposed to meet up.

"What yew wanna bet this ain't gonna be easy as finding Bacon, walking him back to the plane and taking off? Five thou shillings say we run into trouble of some kind, ya?"
"I ain't taking that one cause I've got the same feeling." The American answered.

"I'm sorry, Finn, but you are almost entirely wrong. You can't stop fighting small battles just because there are bigger ones around. That's how we ended up with Durendal. Because the Vindicators were too busy to stop smaller crime."

Violet glared at Rose a moment before continuing. "This isn't about who's prettier or more popular. It's about Rose throwing out insults anytime she gets her knickers twisted. Who here hasn't she targeted, unprovoked?" Violet locked eyes with Finn, knowing he'd been on the receiving end more than once. "And I'm not going to let it go just because she's not as dangerous as Laputa was."

                              TOKYO (Lex; NPCs: Gaspar)
"Personally, though, I kind of want to get out of this place for awhile. Want to go for a walk?"

"Sounds like a plan," Gaspar said. "Can we change out of these clothes first, though?"

A quick change later, the two headed out to explore the city. The New Vindicators Academy of Asia resided in Tokyo's Shibuya ward--in the shadow of United Nations University. The pair headed east, and soon found themselves facing an ocean of people larger than anything they were used to. "Yuusuke told me about this place," Gaspar said. "There's this statue of a dog I want to see..."

NVAA: DOJO (Martin; NPCs: Mira, Peter)
Peter took Martin to the dojo, where the students of the New Vindicators Academy of Asia were trained. Here, they were taught to fight. Here, they were taught to control their powers. It seemed strange at first: there was nothing special about this room. A stray blast from Lex, Mira, or Anne would take out a wall. If someone dodged a downward punch from Eve, the floor would be sundered. Then again, maybe that was how they learned control: the students of the school were made to do chores and take care of the school. According to Peter, they were made to repair any damage they caused--and to do so without the use of their powers. That was how they learned control: they were taught that there were consequences each and every time they used their abilities.

The two boys set up several colored cups around the room and then Peter made Martin leave the area. Standing in the middle of the room, Peter looked around to make sure no one was within his area... and then it happened: the cup he was told to effect was shot across the room.

There was no flash of energy that Martin could see. There was no shimmer of light around Peter or cascading power emanating from him. Peter had simply stood in the middle of the room and the cup had shot away from him as though it had been kicked.

"What's all this, then?" Mira asked, making her way to Martin's side.

NVAE: MODERN WESTERN CIVILIZATION (Violet; NPCs: Doug, Finn, Herta, Kelly, Lexus, Mike, Mouloud, Rose, Sarah)
"I'm sorry, Finn," Violet said, "but you are almost entirely wrong. You can't stop fighting small battles just because there are bigger ones around. That's how we ended up with Durendal: because the Vindicators were too busy to stop smaller crime."

Finn sighed away from Violet's gaze. That surge of confidence was gone now.

"And I'm not going to let it go just because she's not as dangerous as Laputa was."

"Oh, please." Rose rolled her eyes before rising to her feet. "Comparing me to criminal? Calling me dangerous? It's a tad over-dramatic, don't you think? Especially when you consider that everyone here knows what this is really about: you're obsessed with my boyfriend."

KIKYUSA (Blue Knight, Greystone, Magnitude, Ursa)
Within an hour, the New Vindicators had readied themselves and congregated on the front lawn. Gathered around Magnitude, they all rose up into the air and headed east, following the directions of Magnitude's GPS device.

It wasn't long before they lost sight of land and were soaring over the Mediterranean. Soon, they were rocketing over the Sahara. Not long after, they were coming in for a landing. They'd picked a remote region away from prying eyes--not a difficult feat, considering how small this village was...

Kikyusa was a sub-county of Bamunanika, a town in Central Uganda's Luweero District. It was a change from what the New Vindicators were used to: dirt roads and undeveloped land--a skyline devoid of towering monoliths made of steel and glass.

Violet popped out of her chair. "I am bloody well NOT obsessed. I don't care one whit about your boyfriend!" Violet thrust her arm out to point at Mike. When she turned her head to follow where she was pointing and caught sight of Mike, she realized what she'd just said. "Damn. You- You know what I mean. Nevermind." Defeated, Violet turned bright red and sank back into her seat, staring straight down at her desk.
