    Magnitude
    Kasimir Flaegler
    HP 3

Kas listened to the transmission and shook his head.

"While it could have been a teleporter, I'm not certain it was. Besides, Skew is not the only option. Quintessence can teleport. The American Vindicator, Portal can teleport and from what I understand, his ability is technological. There is another former student of the American Academy...Anomoly, who can teleport using gravity based singularities. Then there are mages who possess spells which allow for teleportation. Teleportation seems to be a fairly common result in the super-power lottery."

Kas shrugs and gestures toward Blue Knight. "Your paramour possesses an artifact that allows her to teleport, plus negotiate dimensions, including time. Ellen could send an entire plane full of people to her Maze potentially. Blue Knight, you and I both have been to alternate earths and unearthly alternate dimensions such as the Astral Plane or Limbo or whatever we're calling it. Despite the fact that all those effects have a sentient or semi-sentient being as the motivating force, for all we know this could be a natural phenomenon we haven't identified before."

"Face it, when push comes to shove we don't know enough about what happened to make any sort of educated guess. Beatrice spotted where the plane vanished and either she...or my uniforms' gps can identify the location again. So, now we need to identify if there is any lingering, abnormal energy signature that might provide a clue."

Nodding at Hubris, he asks; "I don't suppose spectrographic analysis is included in your invincibility, sir?"

After that Kas lapsed into silence. They were at too great an altitude for Vestige or Prodigy to tolerate for long and if he'd learned anything, it was pride could cause people to endanger themselves needlessly. He needed to pay attention to the pair for signs of physical collapse.

      Alex "Current" Murphy
      HP: 2 CND: Normal

Lex wasn't acclimatizing well to the Japanese school.

"Cult," He said snapping his fingers, "That's what this was reminding me of."

"Think about it. Everybody has to wear the same clothes, doing anything different is frowned on, you're forced to do menial labor and spend all your time locked in a small compound,"
He snapped shut his binder which had more to do with music and lyrics than his class assignment, "Who I am is a man locked in a cult."

He wasn't looking forward to the essay, which he had no interest in. Fleshing out why delivering things or powering an electrical grid was useful was a gigantic waste of his time. Just like the chores they dumped on the students.

Not that he had much to do any more since they'd shuffled himself off to the ass end of nowhere. His limited experience with anime, manga and video games had led him to believe the place would be far more interesting. His frequent trips as far away from the school as he could get hadn't gone over very well. Apparently the entire country liked him about as much as his old school had. It made it difficult to learn the language when most of the people actively pretended he wasn't there when he was asking for directions.

"Seriously, all this introspection bull@*#( is starting to drive me insane. And I've only been here a week!" He sighed, "How about we stop worrying about who we are, why we're here, and actually do... anything for a change?"

He sighed, as he looked around the room. He'd made himself a promise that if anybody was dumb enough to start a fight he was going to "accidentally" do some serious collateral damage to all the crap they were expected to clean. The challenge would be not smiling afterwards.

He raised an eyebrow as Gaspar explained the situation to him about Xun.

"So he was a bad guy in the other dimension, right?" He pauses as he was still a little hazy on what had happened over there, "Wasn't Kas the evil duke?"

        The Blue Knight

Gwyn shook his head "She's not my paramour."

At least people weren't assuming he was a poof anymore.

"But you make a good point. If the plane left, it had to go somewhere. Another dimension?"

Martin will approach the young man. "I wanted to zank you for ze sentiment of reuniting us wiz our loved ones. Ze symazies are appreciated. I also wanted to inform you, for good or ill, zat we know of an Englishman wiz a powerset similar to yours. 'E may be a relative. ***Piotyr***
When Martin learns of the mans powers his eyes widen in alarm and he takes a step back.

"I'm sorry, I am remarkably sensitive to olfactory stimulus if I am caught unawares. Ummm... I do not 'ave any knowledge of 'ow 'fully functional' Anne is in ze matter of relationships. You can ask, but don't get your 'opes too 'igh, just in case."

Kas shrugged. "I really don't know. It could be another dimension or another geographic location or even another time. Hell, for all I know the entire thing could have been digitized and projected into a virtual world, like Tron."

"We need information or at the very least a way to start excluding possibilities by way of mathematical probability or something. Hubris, is there a way we can check if any satellites had a real time view of this area at or near the time in question? Was telecommunications nearby interrupted or disturbed? If they ended up in another dimension, perhaps the doorway allowed radio or radiation emissions from the destination leak through? Honestly, I'm grasping at straws, but we need to find some way to start sifting facts from theories."

NVAE: MODERN WESTERN CIVILIZATION (Violet; NPCs: Ashworth, Doug, Finn, Herta, Kelly, Lexus, Mike, Mouloud, Rose, Sarah, Steven)
Violet made her way to her second period class--Modern Western Civilization, with Mister Ashworth. It was a larger class, which helped her: with that many students in the room, she had places to hide. Ashworth had a propensity for droning on endlessly anyway--he treated his classes like story time, animatedly telling his pupils about the events of the past--and had never busted Violet and Eve for texting back and forth.

Second period was another class she'd shared with Eve--another reminder that her best friend was gone. Anne had also been in this class. So had Elle. Today, another seat was empty: Harry was gone.

As she waited for Jakob's reply, Herta slipped into the room. Herta was another one who'd been moping as of late. No one knew why, but a few people had theories. The rumors were circulating that the new kids--Ilena, Adam, Iosef, Simon, and Vlad were Herta's siblings. Maybe she'd enjoyed having the school to herself, and the thought of sharing it with her family was a suffocating notion?

Whatever it was, it made the young girl a target for Rose's aggression. "Oh, my God," she whispered to Kelly as the morose Romanian walked in. "Look at what she's wearing. You'd think with the stipend the school gives us she could afford to buy something that doesn't look like she got it from a homeless shelter."

NIJMEGEN (Blue Knight and Magnitude; NPCs: Hubris, Prodigy and Vestige)
"While it could have been a teleporter, I'm not certain it was. Besides, Skew is not the only option. Quintessence can teleport. The American Vindicator, Portal, can teleport, and from what I understand, his ability is technological. There is another former student of the American Academy... Anomoly, who can teleport using gravity based singularities. Then there are mages who possess spells which allow for teleportation. Teleportation seems to be a fairly common result in the super-power lottery."

"Maybe," said Prodigy, "but there's more than simple teleportation. The wingspan of a Boeing 777 is a little over sixty meters. If it was someone like Skew or Quintessence, a portal capable of taking the whole place would be monstrous. That no one on the ground would have seen it?

"Plus, look at how high up we are. Teleportation alone couldn't have done this. The fact that ground control never heard a distress call from Flight 220 is troubling. It implies that whatever took them took them before they could even register it was there. If a portal did suddenly appear in front of them? Someone would have had to have been up here to do something so surgical and precise... I'll concede that Quintessence could have done both, but..."

Magnitude shrugged before looking to the Blue Knight. "Your paramour possesses an artifact that allows her to teleport, plus negotiate dimensions, including time."

The Blue Knight shook his head. "She's not my paramour."

"Ellen could send an entire plane full of people to her Maze, potentially. Blue Knight, you and I both have been to alternate earths and unearthly alternate dimensions such as the Astral Plane, or Limbo, or whatever we're calling it. "You make a good point," the Blue Knight said. "If the plane left, it had to go somewhere. Another dimension?"

"I really don't know," Magnitude confessed. "It could be another dimension or another geographic location or even another time. Hell, for all I know the entire thing could have been digitized and projected into a virtual world, like Tron."

"So, we're going to eliminate the possibility of this being the work of a grue?" Prodigy joked.

"Beatrice spotted where the plane vanished and either she... or my uniforms' gps can identify the location again. So, now we need to identify if there is any lingering, abnormal energy signature that might provide a clue." The leader of the Volunteers turned to their chaperon. "I don't suppose spectrographic analysis is included in your invincibility, sir?"

Hubris frowned. "It's not included with the standard package, no."

"We need information, or at the very least a way to start excluding possibilities by way of mathematical probability or something."

"We can rule one idea out pretty quickly," Prodigy said. He turned to Vestige. "When a wizard casts a spell, they have to move their hands in a certain way. Watch me." He began to gesticulate strangely. "See? Like that. If a magus was up here and cast a spell, you'd see someone doing something like that, right?"

The freshman girl scanned their surroundings. "I don't see anyzing like zat, no."

Prodigy looked to Magnitude. "We can reasonably rule out magic... which is a shame, because being able to legitimately say 'a wizard did it' would be just..."

"Hubris," Magnitude said, "is there a way we can check if any satellites had a real time view of this area at or near the time in question? Was telecommunications nearby interrupted or disturbed? If they ended up in another dimension, perhaps the doorway allowed radio or radiation emissions from the destination leak through? Honestly, I'm grasping at straws, but we need to find some way to start sifting facts from theories."

"Agreed," Prodigy said. "So, if we're not needed this high up, I'm all for us making out next move safely on the ground."

NVAA, SOCIAL STUDIES (Lex and Martin; NPCs: Eve, Gaspar, Inoue, Mahdy, Peter, Ryabko, Ryuunosuke, Svetlana, Yuusuke)
“You can go ahead and start cleaning the classroom now, get a head start on your toban, and use the day to reflect on who it is you are.”

As the man left the room, Gaspar rounded on Lex. “I know who Xun is,” he whispered.

"So, he was a bad guy in the other dimension, right?" Lex paused as he tried to reconcile everything he'd been told about that universe. "Wasn't Kas the evil duke?"

              "Yeah, and gay," Gaspar said.

"Is there something wrong with being gay?" Ryuu asked. He had turned around on his seat to eavesdrop on their conversation. It wasn't surprising: Ryuu rarely bothered to help clean the classroom.

In the short time they had been here, Ryuu had hit on both Eve and Gaspar. It was an aspect of his personality that seemed to annoy Ryabko more than anyone. Most of the others just accepted Ryuu for who he was.

"Ryuu doesn't really have a sexual preference," Mahdy had explained once. "He just enjoys attractive people."

NVAA, SOCIAL STUDIES (Lex and Martin; NPCs: Eve, Gaspar, Inoue, Mahdy, Peter, Ryabko, Ryuunosuke, Svetlana, Yuusuke)
As Martin worked to clean the classroom, he saw Lex, Gaspar, and Ryuunosuke huddled together. Before he could devote another moment of thought to it, Peter saddled up beside him. "Do you have plans after this?" he asked quietly. "I gave some thought to what you said--about my powers? Do... do you think it is possible to refine them without hurting anyone? I know I'll have to use them, but I... I'd rather not have to test them with anyone in the vicinity."

Sometimes, I wondered if... if he knew about me, would he have been part of my life? I always had hope that I'd reunite with him somewhere, but now..." The young boy shook his head sadly. "I suppose I'm better off for having never met him, right?" Mahdy didn't wait for an answer: he just turned and walked away. "Good riddance."

              Isaac
Martin had given Isaac hope for adding Anne to his roster. He walked away, debating out loud which colour would best suit Anne: "Binjuketa White? No, what would the uniform be? A white 'V' on a field of white? Maybe Gold? Binjuketa Gold! Gold would be cooler than Red, though... What about white with a black and gold aegis? No, that'd definitely be cooler than red..."

Piotyr didn't seem to hear anything Martin said beyond "you can ask". His warning went unheard by a boy able to hope once again.

I mean our class has done a lot of things that would get any “normal” student bounced outta school: stole a plane, assaulted a couple members of the teaching staff or insinuated we did a few times, went off into dangerous situations in the city despite the fact the staff had specifically told us not too….well you get my point. They’ve always give us a lot of leeway because of the stuff that keeps happening to us.

Just tell her why you want to transfer, I mean the worst she can do is tell you no. Right?

Martin nods with something akin to enthusiasm. He welcomes a chance to possibly make a difference through the application of scientific theory.

"First we need to determine ze range your wave goes out to, but zat is pretty easy, zen we need to see if you can affect groups of inanimate objects. Kas nods at Jason's pronouncement. "To the ground it is. One quick question...exactly where on the ground? Do we have a destination in mind?"

Kas's first instinct was to head for the school, but he wasn't certain they would find anything of value there. Not valuable to their current dilemma anyway. Then again, he didn't have any clear idea on where else to head. A detective he was not.

Plus, with his luck he'd plop them all down in the courtyard in the middle of Agnes and Astrid. Thinking of the pair brought another question to mind. It wasn't long ago when he couldn't turn a corner without bumping into Astrid and Agnes' level of...admiration... didn't normally respond well to a polite rebuff, but he hadn't seen or heard from either since recent events. Were they okay? Was it weird he was concerned about two girls he was trying to avoid? Was it weird it was just crossing his mind now?

Pushing it aside as a concern for another time...when he could simply ask Dr. Yavorshak to check up on them...he waited for someone to give him some directions about where to land.

Otso let out a sigh as he stood to gather his things at the end of their first period. Even with the new students brought into the school, the place felt empty. Even more so because the transfer of his fellow students to the Asian Academy felt so unjust. Otso just hoped that Sir Newton and Doctor Fischer could indeed overturn the decision. They'd brought in Voleur and freed Viktor and the others from the effects of the criminal's powers but he wondered about the price that had to be paid for it. He hated to think what Viktor was going through, having regained control of his powers only to have to leave Mira behind because of the French governments decision. He wasn't sure how he would have reacted himself, they'd just started to get things back together with Beatrice.

Otso was snapped out of his introspective thoughts as he noticed Gus. Must be even harder barely knowing anybody. He remembered arriving at the school himself and meeting Vlad on his first day there. He approached the older boy as they both moved to leave their classroom and move to the next one they shared. "Hey, how have you been settling in here?"

Gaspar let out an annoyed grunt. "A couple of weeks ago, a girl calling herself the Drifter showed up at our old school, and took me and some of my classmates to another dimension where the first World War never took place because some Neo-Sapien saved that guy who got shot. While we were, that guy Xun? He was totally evil. Right hand man for the big bad, you know?"

"Imps," corrected Ryuu. When the two boys looked at him, Ryuu shrugged. "In this dimension, Xun calls them imps. So, parallel timelines actually exist? I mean, for real?"

"Siento que te pego. Me imaginé que lo haría, y... bueno, yo sabía que podría tomar el golpe mejor que Randy."

"We might as well head for the school," Prodigy said. "There doesn't seem to be anything we can test for here. At the moment, our best theory seems to be another dimension. Given how little we know about these other universes?

"Besides, at the school, we do have something we can test. We can give Sir Newton the list and see if he can contact anyone aboard the plane."

He didn't have to explain what that would prove: if Newton could communicate with anyone who had been aboard the plane, they were no longer counted among the living.

As Kelly fought back a giggle, Steven turned around in his seat. His slow applause made called their attention to him. "Thank you," he told Rose. "Really, thank you. I mean, since I got to this cesspool of crazy it's felt like... Well, when I'm around you, I'm not the most hated person in the room. You never fail to brighten my day by being such an unlikable bitch.

                            "Sincerely, thank you."

Gus hesitated before answering. "It's a very... the facilities are..." He sighed, defeated. "The only Neo-Sapien I ever met before this was my father. It's very strange to suddenly be around so many of you--us, I guess." A frown touched his lips. "Factor in that I don't know if those people made me hurt some of you... I don't know who I can approach."
