AE: Enhanced Strength: +10 Strength (1pt)

    Complications:
Motivation - Sense of Duty. Dara tried out the suit out of curiosity. But she understands what being a superhero is all about--helping those who need it.
Relationship - Aunt Sabrina, the co-inventor of the Dragonfly suit, and Dara's mentor. Possibly also one or 2 techie friends who helped get it working again.
Enemy - Whoever broke into the lab, or ordered the break-in. (For GM to create)
Medical Condition - Dara needs a custom drug cocktail and sometimes other medical treatment to keep her "hyper-energized" biochemistry from becoming dangerously "destabilized."

Backstory: The Dragonfly Battlesuit, co-designed and originally worn by Sabrina Roberts from the '80s through the Dark Age - augments strength and some senses, but its main functions are greatly amplifying the wearer's natural neuro-electric fields. This effect seems to work with some human biochemistries but not all, which is why governments and private security were uninterested at the time. Caught up in the spell, Sabrina lost her power; the Dragonfly suit no longer worked with her biochem. Unlike many of her contemporary supers, Sabrina retained her memories of what the world was like and what she could do. She often told her young niece, Dara Sommers, about her adventures--to the dismay of the little girl's parents.

Dara thought they were just exciting stories, as good as the Harry Potter or the Ranger's Apprentice series, and better than most other fiction in the school library. Some months ago, after they saw some internet videos of purported supers, Aunt Sabrina told her the truth and showed her the suit and her old lab. Intrigued, Dara decided to try it out.

All went well for the first few test runs, then there was a break-in at the lab while Sabrina, Dara and a couple scientist friends were testing an upgrade. During the ensuing fight, as Dara defended the others, she was hit more than once with an "odd high-tech energy or stun weapon" which reacted badly with the Dragonfly suit field! This "hyper-energized"--as far as the neurologists can tell--her biochemistry and nervous system, which were already boosted from exposure to the suit's neuro-electric fields.

The SDO learned about Dara from news accounts of her locating a pair of lost youngsters, after the normal searchers had to be called in due to badly worsening weather. Some of those searchers, as they reluctantly left off, saw Dragonfly forced down, apparently out of control, by high winds. Just as everyone thought all 3 were gone, Dragonfly hiked out with them. Her suit's sensors had enabled her to find them after she crash landed! SDO members contacted Sabrina, thinking she was active again and she put them in contact with Dara.

Public Perception - Popular for her search & rescue assistance, as well as crimefighting. Because of her willingness to do charity appearances and interviews, authorities view her as a "damned thrillseeker, in it for glory" rather than a vigilante.

Paulo, just to be clear, feel free to improve and modify and create more villains for the Dynamo's Gallery of Villains. This is a beautiful opportunity for both of us to go crazy on cheesy villainw from the golden and silver age, like The Human Rat, Lady Matter-Eatet and Doctor Destructor!

          Galatea

Name: Galatea, Doll (real name unknown)
Age: 5 (apparent age: mid twenties)
          Height: 5'4"
Weight: 300 pounds (made of magically sculpted stone turned into flesh)
          Hair: Blonde with black roots
          Eyes: Green

Galatea was 'born' recently. She was made five years ago by a spellcaster that didn't have many friendly acquaintances. So he made himself golem. It would serve two purposes in his life. One as a bodyguard, two as a play toy for his enjoyment. He made it to his specification, beautiful, unwillingly loyal and playful to a fault. After a year or so, he was bored with the magical statue and decided the thing needed a true spark of life.

Galatea was awoken to her master with a few of the memories he placed for her. Her 'name' was Doll. Her past was a bit muddy but she 'knew' she grew up in a bad neighborhood and her master saved her from it. They were a perfect couple for a while. She knew of her superpowers and still served him as a bodyguard. That was the fail safe he put in. Her loyalty was still with her master.

Though the feeling of the spark of life didn't take well with Galatea. She questioned her master more than she did things for him. Even her vaunted loyalty to him began to slip after a while. She still had to do what he said, but she didn't have to like it. It came to a head when they began to argue with each other. One night he forgot to put her to sleep and she had free reign to do whatever she wished. She squished his head like a grape.

After that Galatea felt something she'd never felt before. Actual freedom. Not the freedom she had before which was just 'wait hand and foot over some lonely guy'. To do what she wanted without the orders of someone else. She still had some blind spots in her memory. She wants to find out about her true past.

She ought to add some interest to the spectacle. How does she feel about shape shifters? :P

Re: Superhuman Defense Organisation - America (Recruiting)

              Neat setting.

Reminds me (a little) of Fred Saberhagen`s vision of the future that shaped Empires of the East and the Book of Swords.
The Sorcerer that rewrote history reminds me of ARDNEH...

Anyhoot, i have an idea for a character that is (or was) a herald (or member of the vanguard) of the big bad that invaded Earth. At one point he either turned against his master (yawn), or was left as sentinel/ custodian of the Earth and with the rewrite of History he became a part of this world.

-He Can Move the Mountains: Enhanced Strength 18 (Limited to Lifting)
                Complications:
Accident: Caleb is very powerful and many of his abilities have substantial potential for collateral damage.
Responsibility: Caleb feels that because others would horribly abuse the powers they’ve been given, he needs to set an example for others by being a superhuman who uses his powers responsibly.
Relationships: Caleb frequently consults with his parents, both former superheroes depowered by the great spell. They remember the time before the spell, and as such he frequently consults them for their great experience. He also has a younger brother, David, and his girlfriend Cassandra. He has nightmares revolving around harm coming to those he cares about.
Identity Only Caleb's parents and his girlfriend know that Savior is actually Caleb Anderson, apprentice plumber.
Temper: Caleb is usually quite level-headed, but he can get angry, and when he does he may forget his other priorities...

                Height: 6'4"
                Weight: 210 lbs
                Eyes: Blue
                Hair: Medium Brown
                Skin: White (Germanic Ancestry)
                Age: 20

Caleb Anderson has powers beyond what most people can imagine. He can lift over twenty megatons. He can fly. He can run faster than most people can perceive. He can shoot rays of heat from his eyes. He wasn't always this way. He was an ordinary boy up until he was sixteen. A girl he was crushing on was crying, her 'friends' were mocking her for something she'd done. Caleb was enraged and stormed up to them. Truth be told, Caleb didn't actually have a plan for what he was going to do when he got their attention, but he was blindsided when the girls ran shrieking in terror. He was confused but pleasantly surprised nonetheless. He turned to the girl and asked her if she was alright, to which she screamed "Please don't hurt me... I'm begging you, I don't want to die..." Caleb was taken totally aback by this. What did he do to scare her so bad? Then he caught his reflection in a window pane, which he could see with incredible clarity. His eyes were glowing red, like he was channeling some internal fire and could let it out at any moment. No wonder the girl was afraid. Caleb's confusion turned to guilt and as his emotions softened, so to did his eyes fade back to their typical blue. It took some doing, but he managed to calm the girl, named Cassandra, down. After taking her home, Caleb decided to experiment, to see the extent of his power. He was not disappointed. He could crush rocks with ease, he could fly, and other things besides. After confiding with his parents, both depowered heroes, he saw two options. He could suppress the urge to use his powers and try to live a normal life, or he could exercise them for the betterment of humanity. He chose the latter, and worked as a freelance hero until he received an invitation from the SDO to join their ranks. Caleb is now 20, and although he is considerably more mature than he was four years ago, he still has much to learn.

Public Perception: The general public generally views Savior in a good light, since he's pretty good about being a good guy and not abusing his powers. Some people may not like him, perhaps because they're intimidated by him, perhaps in part because he's inexperienced, but most people find him the inspirational figure he wants to be.
Savior was invited to join the SDO after he saved numerous naval personnel from a sinking aircraft carrier by holding it afloat until all lifeboats were launched.

                  BACKGROUND
Like so many others, John Olson's birth took place during a "baby boom" directly related to the Dark Age of superhumans. His father, David "Tempest" Olson, was a superhuman with the ability to control the weather and an active agent serving with the Superhuman Defense Organization. His mother, Lisa, had no special abilities of her own and was afraid that Galaxor would destroy everything she ever loved. John was only an infant when the sorcerer's spell wiped out almost all superhuman abilities and memories of that time, saving the world but at an incredible cost.

The world survived. For most, life went on as if nothing strange had ever happened. For David Olson, however, the world had changed forever. He remembered having incredible powers, but found that he no longer had those abilities. Worse, Lisa and everyone else he knew -- family, friends, even fellow SDO agents who had fought so hard to protect the world from Galaxor – assumed that he had had a psychotic break and lost touch with reality. John's earliest memories were confused, scattered recollections of his parents fighting, of his father throwing and breaking things, of him going in and out of the hospital for extended periods of time.

During his childhood years, John was very much affected by his family's stress. Although his parents remained together, mostly out of Lisa's love for her husband and sheer determination to keep their family intact, he was disgusted by his father for being a drunken crazy man. How could anyone really believe they used to be able to control the weather?

John was picked on by kids at school, and he struggled to succeed academically. He joined the wrong crowds in high school, tried not to let his parents find out that he was bullied, and began stealing for quick cash and the thrill of not getting caught. He was arrested multiple times for vandalism and petty theft. John found himself just not caring about how his life turned out.

When John turned 16, his life radically changed. His genes held latent abilities that were somehow not affected by the sorcerer’s spell that changed the world. As his abilities suddenly became active, John gained the ability to control electricity. After spending a lifetime writing his father off as a drunk schizophrenic, John realized that he had been telling the truth all along.

Rather than reveal his abilities to his family and vindicate his father, John kept his powers completely secret. He didn't know how to face his father after a lifetime of anger and bitterness, so he simply tried to ignore it. For a while, he gave in to temptation and used his electrical control abilities for more theft, but it left a sour taste in his mouth. Not only had he lost the thrill, but he began to realize that his dad and so many other SDO agents had sworn themselves to meaningful lives focused on protecting the welfare of others. In comparison, stealing cash from an ATM machine felt so...cheap. His criminal behavior didn't stop altogether, however. He picked up a grand larceny charge for stealing a Mustang. Although he argued that he just wanted to take it around the block for a spin, he was charged with a felony that he is still trying to plead down to a misdemeanor.

John adopted the name of Spark and became a vigilante hero. Ironically, he spent a lot of time stopping petty thefts and even bank robberies, until his vigilante efforts led him to cross paths with a superhuman bank robber. Their resulting brawl left half a commercial city block in rubble, with several fatalities and a large number of wounded bystanders. He never stopped to think that another superhuman could be out there, not after this spell that took superhumans away. It shattered his confidence and nearly cost him his life.

John, now 18 years old, has temporarily stopped his vigilante efforts. He is trying to work up the courage to reveal his secret to his family, or at least his father. David Olson is desperate to confront this "Spark," believing that he may somehow know the secret to restoring his power to control the weather. The public doesn't know much about Spark, especially his secret identity, but they blame him for the damage he caused during the fight. The police are looking for Spark to question him about the fight, but they also know that he has stopped several important heists around the city and wonder if he might be on their side.

Shortly after the fight against the unknown superhuman villain, John was contacted by a man claiming to be an agent of the SDO and extended an invitation to join, including a chance to clean his slate and remove his juvenile criminal records. He reluctantly accepted, knowing that it was too good of an offer to pass up. Now he just needs to figure out how to explain his situation to his father, or whether he should say anything.

                  PERSONALITY
John is a scrappy, resilient kid who hates being taken advantage of or controlled. He inherited his mother's optimism and his father's stubbornness, but life circumstances have made him more cynical, and his life is in another major upheaval now that his latent super powers have activated. He has a blurry sense of right and wrong, and won't hesitate to do something illegal if it's for a cause he believes in (including hedonism). He has always believed that the ends justify the means, but he might be starting to question that philosophy.

                  COMPLICATIONS
                  • Enemy: Spark has created an enemy of the super villain who fought him. John doesn't know his code name or whether they will cross paths again. All he knows is that next time, Spark intends to win that fight. (Intentionally left vague for now, for GM to weave into the story as needed.)
                  • Motivation (Guilt): John has nursed a grudge against his father and the world for so long, but now he is coming to terms with the realization that his actions, good or bad, have an impact on others. He feels guilty for judging his father and wants to make sure that he makes amends for his past actions, even if that is never truly possible. Related to his guilt, John has a growing sense of responsibility, recognizing that his powers can enable him to do great things that might actually help other people.
                  • Relationship (Parents): John has rocky relationships with both of his parents. It will take considerable effort to overcome his mother's sadness about his juvenile delinquency and his father's general bitterness towards the world. John isn't convinced that he can mend either relationship, but he wants to try.
                  • Reputation: John is well-known by his family and the police for his extensive history of criminal behavior. Although most of his arrests were for misdemeanors, people who know him well may tend to disbelieve him or make negative judgments about him. As Spark, the public also currently view him as a liability and a danger to their security, which may make it difficult to go public as an SDO agent. Even other SDO officials may question his motives, given the deal he was offered to have his juvenile records expunged.
                  • Temper: John's buttons can be pushed pretty easily, mostly when he is pushed or challenged by someone he doesn’t like. He is especially likely to retaliate if someone insults or threatens him. He is trying to work better at keeping himself in check, but sometimes he just can't seem to help it.
                  • Weakness (Water): John’s electricity powers will not work as expected when he or his target are very wet, especially if he is submerged underwater. For example, his lightning might arc out and cause collateral damage, or fizzle out altogether. As a result, his powers are either less effective or uncontrollable in these situations.

-Power-Lifting: Enhanced Strength 13 (Limited to Lifting)
                      Complications:
Accident: Caleb is very powerful and many of his abilities have substantial potential for collateral damage.
Responsibility: Caleb feels that because others would horribly abuse the powers they’ve been given, he needs to set an example for others by being a superhuman who uses his powers responsibly.
Relationships: Caleb frequently consults with his parents, both former superheroes depowered by the great spell. They remember the time before the spell, and as such he frequently consults them for their great experience. He also has a younger brother, David, and his girlfriend Cassandra.

Caleb Anderson has powers beyond what most people can imagine. He can lift over a megaton. He can fly. He can run faster than most people can perceive.

He's a legacy hero, following the steps of his grandfather, his father and his deceased older brother. I'm thinking the Dynamo Legacy as a mix between the Atom family and the Hourman family from JSA. His grandfather discovered a formula for a drug that reinforced his body and as consequence turned his biochemical system into a living generator of energy. Anyone who takes the Dynamo Pills gains peak human level physique, superb martial reflexes, bulletproof skin, and the ability to infuse explosive energy into his hands or any inorganic matter touched by the user (so he can thrown energized objects just like grenades).

My character is a doctor, and I'm heavily basing him on Doctor Mid-Nite from JSA as well (you may notice that I'm a big fan of the team) as a more mature and level-headed guy. He has a stranded family, and I believe the regular use of the Dynamo Pills will grant him an Addiction in the near future.
I Was always a Fan of the JSA(Even when they did them in that special two-Part Smallville Episode, and I personally Detest that Show!),with my personal favs being Hawkman(I actually like the Actor they had for him in Smallville better than the one they're Currently using,in point of fact.)and Wildcat(I personally disliked how they've handled him in TV:A base Supporting Character in Arrow and Killing him Off-Screen in a Prison Riot in Smallville...OK,the last one was a Good Send off,but still...).Which is why I made Vigilante the way I did...

I hope this is still open...my pitch is a psychic crimefighter, sort of like a cross between The Shadow and Batman, although more on the former side. Will put up the stats when I get home in the evening.

Recruiting will close on Friday, so if anyone else wants to submit a character, have at least the stats for your character up by then.
