  • [3e IC] Injustice Gods Among Us: Aftermath #1

High Councilor Superman is gone. Very few people know where he is, but the heroes of the world - the TRUE heroes - have assured everyone that he will not bother them anymore. As for the rest of his regime members, a few have went peacefully. Others have been resistant to the idea of going quietly. And some are not beholden to man's or mortal laws.

After receiving a generous grant from the deceased Lex Luthor's will, Bruce Wayne retired and uses the combined fortunes to rebuild everything. But he definitely is not out of the picture yet. As he was with Batman, he has plans. Many. Plans. First up was organizing the willing to hunt and root out rogue Regime members. These groups have had various successes and losses. Others, well, some times you can't reason with crazy, as Harley would tell you. Still even more grim are the ones who will not be caged and will break anyone who dares try.

Wonder Woman promised to bring this world back to it's more 'peaceful' state, even if she has to bring about a great war to do so. Ares is conflicted about this sentiment. Raven has not been seen since the victory. No one knows her motives at the moment. Bane wishes for the more peaceful world too, but for different reasons, mainly better to rule than serve. Killer Frost and Solomon Grundy have struck up a partnership and work as mercenaries for the shattered Regime. Black Adam has sealed off Khandaq from the outside world. Aquaman has done similar with Atlantis.

Bringing these people down are not right now things, Batman has said, but you can rest assured that they will be dealt with. Right now, you're taking down a rally for Regime held in an underground bunker in Gotham. There are a crown of regime supporters, some ex-soldiers, some metas and some just generally interested people. Some have even whispered that their might even be 5-U-93-R might have resurfaced. This is what got everyone's attention.

Finding the place was easy enough, but getting inside? that's your job. The building leading to the bunker is in a prominent part of Gotham. The estate of Carmine Falcone. Money and power supports the Regime ideals as much as it opposes it. How you get in there is your choice. Batman wants you to get in there and see if the rumors about the Kryptonian DNA pills are true. Also taking down the Regime a peg won't hurt either.

Jaime half studied the bunker as the Scarab scanned the structure breaking down the dimensions and material composition of the bunker. He couldn't focus though, mostly because he was still in disbelief that he had been allowed on the team. This team had been put together to help repair the damage that had been done by Superman's regime and that included bringing hope back to a populace that had lived in fear for so long. It seemed counterproductive to have one of the instruments through which Superman dealt out that fear on the team. Jaime had actually been prepared to beg and plead for Batman to let him help with the rebuilding, for a chance to make amends, but when he'd asked Batman for that chance to help, he agreed immediately, saying he had just the job for him. And so here he was, next to many heroes more deserving, looking for a way in. The Scarab chirped in his mind to alert him that it had finished it's scans and was ready to relay the information. "What do you got?", Jaime said aloud (a bad habit of his as no one else could hear the Scarab.)

Analytical sight and if there is anything significant to listen to, Analytical hearing. Scanning for a weak point or anything that might give them a way in. Forcefully or otherwise.

Windcaller shrugs to the big blue armored guy. She was pretty new to the whole heroing thing, and her powers didn't give her any special senses...well, they did. They made it easier to see in poor lightening and she could see further than most, but she couldn't see through walls, which would have been pretty handy.

Wylenn was in her Skycaller form, the winged griffon woman, wearing a loose cloak over herself to hide her rather eye-catching form and keep the group from sticking out any more than they already kind of did. The cloak was held with just a clasp though so she could pull it off easily at a moment's notice as she stood by for people with more handy sensory powers to figure out what they were dealing with, and factor in how she could be helpful to the group

        Status: Vengeful

Starfire had been off world when this whole thing happened. She was not there when Dick died. For some reason, Batman would not tell her who killed him, but he convinced her to join in the cause of taking down the Regime remnants. Maybe she could even find the killer. When she does though, it will not be a pretty sight. They will taste all of her rage.

Though now? She was in Gotham. Staring at some rich man's house. A rich man that supports the Regime's return. It would take little to raze this place in a few minutes. But this place is not the target. It's underneath this place. There are people here who possibly killed Dick. She wanted to interrogate them all as brutally as possible until she found the right one.

          NIGHTWING
          HP:1
          CND: Normal

Damien wove his way through the assembled crowd. He was dressed in civilian attire, his costume hidden beneath a heavy hooded jacket, masking his intent. By all appearances, he was just another face in the crowd. The ability to hide in plain sight was something Damian had been taught his entire life; a vital skill for a crimefighter or an assassin.

He had been operating for months on his own since his "early release" from prison. His training had allowed him to remain beyond the reach of the distracted and overstretched Gotham Police but not from his father. Not from the Batman. The reunion had not been a warm one, coming just short of a rematch of their duel on Stryker's Island. In the end, Nightwing had listened. And now here he was among these supporters of the fallen Regime.

The rest of Batman's team was assembling outside the bunker, but it had been Nightwing's job to be the man on the inside. It hadn't been too difficult. A few threats to the right people had been enough to learn the rally's location, and infiltrating the bunker itself had been child's play. Damian was many things, but above all else, he was his father's son.

Slipping behind a large pillar, away from the thickest part of the crowd, Damian raised a finger to the small communicator hidden in his ear. "Zero One to team. I am in position. Over"

Damian narrowed his eyes, scanning to crowd for any signs of the Kryptonian Super Pills.

            Flash
            HP: 1
            Condition: Normal

My name is Wally West, and I am the fastest man alive. Or at least the fastest man not behind bars. Years ago I used to hang out with a group called the Teen Titans. We were a junior Justice League dedicated to fighting crime, protecting democracy, listening to rock and roll... and trying to score with Wonder Girl.

Since Superman and the Regime, things had certainly changed. Now the Flash was working with a new team, and the only familiar face was Starfire. And boy, did she look angry. Maybe she wasn't happy with working with a former member of the Regime using the same alias and costume of the late Dick Grayson. Wally and Dick were best friends and the speedster missed him everyday, but there was a time when Star and him were something more. If that was the reason she was upset, Wally didn't get it. He chose to carry on the name of the Flash because he respected Barry and wanted to uphold his legacy. Wally knew that his former mentor always believed he was doing what was right up until he left the Reigme and ACTUALLY started doing what was right. The new Nightwing deserved the same chance for redemption. Heck, even Harley Quinn was here, as well as a pretty face he had only met recently.

"Zero One?" Flash responded. "What kind of codename is that?" He paused. "Oh, over."

Once you get into the bunker, you find that there's only a few dozen people in attendance. Some of these are just punks with rich family connections, others are actualcriminals you have taken down before. Luckily they don't seem to know you without the mask. While you don't see any of the pills passed around, you do hear talk of the new batch and who's going to be in the New Army.

Ever since the reprogramming of the Scarab, Jaime notices it's a bit too eager. Even after the Regime's programming was removed. It conveys the places of each weak spot of the mansion and a direct course to the bunker... which is inside the mansion. It also shows you every guard and how easy it would be to take them out. "That's what I have."

"This is, uh...Big Blue?" Jamie says with a shrug. He wished someone would have told him they needed code names. If Flash thought Zero One was lame her could only guess what kind of response Big Blue would illicit. "I've identified several possible entry points, do you have eyes on the objective yet Zero One?"

The Tameranean hears Damien's voice fine. It is him that is wearing Dick's costume now. He took up the mantle after Dick died. Now he wears it like a badge of honor. Starfire has mixed feelings about the whole thing. She knows Damien and Batman are not on the best of terms because of the younger's Regime stint. Before she left, Dick and Damien were Batman and Robin. So Dick must have trusted him. All said, she's glad that Damien is working to mend bridges and supports him if she feels like she needs to.

"This is Sunflower," she says tensely, "I can hear you. Is it time to do busting heads?" Damien picked the name for her. She doesn't know why they need code names on top of code names.

"Our best options are either the south wall of the compound right there," point to where he was referring, "or the entrance at the top of that fire escape there. The wall is structurally weak so we should be able to blast through it fairly easily. Building layout suggests that it would be a more direct route to our destination, but we would attract a lot of attention doing so. The fire escape appears to have remnants of chemical residue that suggests it's probably a popular place for guards to take a smoke break. If we time it right we could slip in without anyone being alerted, but we'd be further from our target and risk being discovered before we're close enough to stop anyone from escaping with the suspected goods." He paused to let the options sink in before asking, "So, what do we want to do?"

Omnipetent, hope you don't mind took some liberties here to get the ball rolling again. All of this seemed like information that could have been provided by the Scarab during his scan of the building. Let me know if you need me to make any edits to this (or delete the post entirely.)

Windcaller shrugs her shoulders slightly, ruffling her wings lightly under the cloak she wears. "I'm afraid I probably won't be very good at sneaky stuff, but maybe I could do a distraction of some sort...draw attention away from an area to help you all get in?" she suggests.

Moving back into the thick of the crowd, Damian cast his gaze around the room. Turning his extensive training in investigation he checked for possible entrances and exits, and how to best exploit the situation. His fist clenched as he examined the rally. Every part of him wanted to simply launch into an attack, to grab someone and beat an answer out of them. But now wasn't the time yet. What they needed was a distraction to provide the rest of the team with an opportunity to enter the room.

Tapping the communicator in his ear, Nightwing contacted Blue Beetle. He seemed to be one of the few members of the team that wasn't totally worthless.

"Zero One to....Big Blue", Damian grumbled the ridiculous callsign that Beetle had chosen. Nightwing could not understand how he had come to work with such amateurs. "I will attempt to find a way to temporarily cut the power. It will cause confusion that can be exploited to allow the team to assault the compound. The plan is to break up the rally, grab one of the organizers and get some intel. Once the fighting begins, the rats may start to scatter. Make sure they don't get far. Be ready to move out on my word. Over."

While digging for the flashbang, Nightwing finds a gadget that Batman slipped to him without his notice. It's a localized EMP emitter for just in case of situations like this. It would short out any electronics within 120 feet. More than enough to jack the light source from this room. Though he seems to find the fuse box easily. This would shut down the whole complex! The mansion above, the bunker below, anything outside. Nightwing reckons there will be a bit of chaos before the generators kick in, but enough time for the crew to get down to the meeting place.

This device will short out at the end of the scene. All for the price of 1 HP
