  • Green Lantern Power Level and Create

Hmm, according to the rules, a Green Lantern (any Lantern for that matter) is impossible to make because the Create power is limited to Power Level, but almost all other powers in the array can be double power level in effect.

Anyone else having trouble with this contradiction?

DC Adventures had a different rule for dropping objects that allowed for a PL tradeoff (which was removed for regular 3e because several players pointed out that it essentially gave every benefit of Ranged Damage at the same cost, plus much more, so they returned it to the 2e rules).
Simply dropping an object on a target or targets requires a ranged attack check against Dodge. The object inflicts damage equal to its Toughness.
This does still potentially allow created objects to exceed PL, but that's something not patched in either system, and somewhat balanced by that created objects tend to be immobile and Defenseless and therefore very easy to Power Attack and also get a Critical hit.

I only noticed this because of Hero Lab pointing it out. So is this in an errata or an edition or...where can I find this to make sure I'm going RAW.

Funny how Mayfair Games didn't have this problem with their Force Manipulation power.

Ah. Hero Lab implements current 3e rules. I don't remember if they have a ruleset seeing for DCA.

Fortunately, you can bypass that. It's jsut a little warning, not a full on "YOU BROKE THE GAME!!!"

OK, and I was wrong. They did release DCA Errata and Create was modified to fit 3E. Unfortunately, they don't seem to have fixed that for Heroes & Villains, and since it's out of print (license expired), it's doubtful that will be fixed.

They didn't even fix it in DCA Errata. Green Lantern and Sinestro still have more than their PL in Create. Oh well.

According to what rules? Nowhere in the rules section for Create does it say anything is limited to the Power Level of the character or campaign. Only area attacks are generally limited to power level directly. Otherwise, things are limited to the constraints of the various trade offs.

Dropping Created objects on people is an area attack ever since the errata came out.

That doesn't limit the amount of Create you can buy. It limits the amount of Create you can drop on someone. You can have Create 15 in a PL 10 game. But when you use the area versions of it, it is limited to campaign PL of 10 ranks.
