Hi there,

I was wondering, does anyone know if it would be possible that Green Ronin would be willing to allow for us to write stories based on our M&M Characters & Campaigns that are set in the Freedom-verse under the Kindle Worlds banner over on Amazon?

I'd be interested in seeing more Cape & Cowl fiction and could further raise the profile of M&M as a system.

Back in 2E, I seem to remember they had a contact address for such queries. Now, you'd probably have to send something through their website. Worse comes to worse, you can always "file the serial numbers off" much like how Freedom City is basically other comic book cities with the serial numbers removed. A number of authors have gotten their start that way. But, then again, as SignalGK indicated, this could be a feather in Green Ronin's cap although they'd probably also request some degree of approval rights, and with their small staff, that could be a long time coming.

Hmmmmmm, I don't see it happening. See the idea behind the Kindle Worlds is that it allows Amazon to make money off of fan fiction of popular series or properties based on the characterisation of that property without developing any original characters of your own. Where as the M&M setting is pretty empty of that characterisation since there are no published narrative fiction for the universe; though wouldn't it be cool if there were some official novelizations.

So if you were to write a novel based on Freedom City, you'd actually be building the characterisations entirely from scratch, since there would be no older material or adventures to base it on.... At which point you pretty much realise you are writing about long standing pastiche characters & one pallet swap later you have an "original" IP.

That's probably why I could find no fan fiction for M&M, but a whole heap of creepy fetish material for original comic universe fiction in places like deviantart. (and one truly offensive Champions RPG piece of fan fiction which was just straight up porn of the worst sort)

*shudders*

I can't unsee what I have seen.

So to answer your question no its unlikely that Green Ronin will sign up for the Kindle Worlds project, though you can always ask them directly.... Who knows, I might be wrong.

License holders don't get approval rights, instead each world licensor (amazons term for IP rights holders such as Green Ronin) get to write their own ground rules, which has changed from the original pitch of the idea a year ago when everyone had to play by the same rules (which included things like no sex scenes).

But its a bit of a jip still because you as the author only receive 38% of the profits which Ii'll tell you now is digital highway robbery.

Actually here's an idea: Ask this question on the Google+ page. You are more likely to get an answer there since there is less traffic & I'm going to guess that J.L uses it more frequently than the forum board & checks it daily becauses its hooked into youtube. That's how I usually contact the guys, that's how the recent youtube review ended up on the facebook page (because I posted it on the google+ page & then they reposted it on the facebook page).

Here (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=google%2B+green+ronin&l=1).

Does not look very well updated. The Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/MutantsAndMasterminds) is a little more current.

Its usually a faster turn around time than the forum is for official answers, but there's much less traffic so it looks less up to date.
